Definitions
- the present invention relates to a hydraulically controlled diaphragm pump and more specifically to a diaphragm pump with a high suction capacity.
- the diaphragm pumps known to date and subject to series production generally have a suction capacity of the order of 4 meters of water column (or up to 7 meters of column of water in particular designs). This capacity can be increased by careful production that comes out of the standards of mass production, so that they are special devices distinct from conventional pumps, particularly in terms of price.
- the invention is a response to this need in that it relates to a diaphragm pump, whose architecture is modified to limit or even eliminate some of the elements for which manufacturing tolerances must be very tight to achieve the performance of suction required.
- the controlled mobile wall of the working chamber also comprises at least a second membrane, integral with the piston head and the pump body, which seals the hydraulic working chamber.
- This second membrane for sealing the movable wall has the function of eliminating leakage of the oil from the working chamber along the piston in its sliding cooperation with the body, irrespective of the seals set. implemented.
- the second membrane used is of the type of the mechanically actuated type described in the document FR 2,697,589 . The elimination of these leaks therefore reduces the need for replenishment of the working chamber, and therefore the volume of compensation fluid required for this feed.
- a third membrane is disposed between the piston and the body of the pump to form in the pump body, with the second membrane integral with the piston head, a closed chamber filled with oil in which the piston and the body slide together. So, the second front membrane is able to collect the discharge pressure of the pump, while the third rear membrane can accept a large depression value corresponding to a large suction capacity.
- the safety valve to protect the pump from overpressure, is a device that also limits the suction capacity of a pump. Indeed, its release purges the working chamber of a certain amount of oil which requires the establishment of an oil replenishment valve. These two safety valves and pump refilling are all the more important that the displacement of this pump is important and possible leaks and uncontrolled fluid in the working chamber, when it is under negative pressure .
- the piston is in two telescopic parts held in extension by a calibrated spring to a value corresponding to a safety instruction. The safety valve is then removed and thus the drawback that arises from its existence, with regard to the suction capacity.
- the working chamber is connected to a sealed reserve capacity for the supply and degassing of the working chamber by means of a pipe having two channels in parallel with one of the the other, the first degassing channel being equipped with a unidirectional valve in series with a section restriction whose direction is in the direction of the reserve capacity, the second feedback channel being equipped with a calibrated unidirectional valve whose passing direction is in the direction of the working chamber.
- This reserve capacity can be very small because the need for replenishment has been reduced. This small size allows it to reign in this capacity, without inconvenience, an important pressure which is that of repression of the pump that it is easy to isolate from the working chamber by a unidirectional valve when the working chamber is under a negative pressure at the suction.
- This capacity can accommodate the gas contained in the circuit and the oil in the working chamber which will accumulate above the reserve oil. To do this, the reserve capacity is located above the working chamber when the pump is in operation and the unidirectional degassing valve is a heavy body.
- the refeeding channel is formed in the body of the unidirectional degassing valve while the reserve capacity is formed in the form of an assembly attached to the body of the pump, this assembly comprising a transparent cap for monitoring the oil level in the capacity.
- a pump head 1 which forms the fixed wall of a pumping chamber 2 in which suction ducts 3 and discharge ducts 4 open. These ducts are equipped, in known manner, with valve boxes. not shown through which fluid is sucked into the chamber pumping and is pressurized out of this chamber.
- the other wall of this pumping chamber is formed by a first deformable membrane 5, known in itself, tightly sealed on its periphery between the head 1 and a pump body 6.
- the face 5a of the first membrane 5 is turned towards the pumping chamber 2 while the opposite face 5b or rear face is exposed to the fluid pressure that prevails in a hydraulic working chamber 7.
- This hydraulic chamber 7 is formed in the pump body with channels 7a of passage of the fluid to reach the rear face 5b of the first membrane 5. It accommodates the head of a piston 8 driven by a reciprocating rectilinear movement by means of a mechanical transmission known in itself and which acts on the piston to the opposite of his head.
- a third membrane 10 similar to the second membrane 9, comprises a peripheral portion A substantially planar interior which is sealed between the spacer 8c and the rear bead 8b of the piston head 8 and a substantially planar outer peripheral portion 64 which is sealed between the ring 6a and the body 6.
- third membrane 10 has between its outer peripheral portion 64 and its inner peripheral portion 63, an intermediate portion 65 concave concavity facing the rear heel 8b.
- the spacer 8 and the ring 6a there is a sealed chamber 11 which is filled with oil by means of the conduit 12 plugged by a plug 13.
- the fluid of this chamber provides the hydraulic coupling between the second membrane 9 and the third membrane 10, which allows the third membrane 10 to transmit to the second membrane 9 its ability to draw vacuum, the second membrane 9 having a design allowing it to cash the discharge pressure.
- the two membranes thus coupled constitute the movable wall of the chamber 7. Since the sealing of the working chamber 7 at the piston 8 is perfect thanks to the second and third membranes 9 and 10, it is not necessary to ensure tight tolerances between the two parts in relative motion.
- the volume of the chamber 11 is very small, thanks in particular to the shape of the second and third membranes 9 and 10, which prevents air from being trapped in the chamber 11 at the time of filling.
- the piston 8 comprises a rod 8d which is slidably mounted in the rear heel 8b of the head, with a shoulder end 14 which can take bearing on a shoulder 15 of the internal bore of the heel 8b which receives the rod 8d.
- the other end of the rod 8d carries a nut 16 which adjusts the compression of a spring 17 whose effect is to apply the stepped end 14 of the rod 8d on the shoulder 15 of the heel 8b.
- the setting of the spring 17 is therefore set to a value corresponding to a safety instruction representative of the maximum discharge pressure that the pump or the pumping installation can withstand without degradation. A safety is thus ensured without using a discharge valve of the working chamber, therefore without the need for an oil replenishment, thus eliminating the imperfections of sealing that necessarily presents such a valve and its replenishment system. associated.
- a final provision of the invention is represented by the detail view of the figure 2 .
- the members shown in this figure are installed at the external outlet of a channel 20 which comes from the working chamber 7 (see FIG. figure 1 ) and which passes through the pump body 6.
- a tubular nozzle 21 is attached by sealingly screwing to the end of this channel 20.
- the tubular jacket which forms this nozzle is divided into two sections.
- a first section 22 carries a lower seat 23 traversed by the fluid from the channel 20 and defines a cylindrical bore 24 in which is mounted with a calibrated clearance 25 a valve 26.
- a second section 27 which delimits above the valve 26 a capacity 28 of fluid reserve and gas accumulation. This ability is closed sealed by a cap 29 here transparent.
- the valve 26 is a heavy body which under the effect of gravity, tends to rest on the seat 23. Indeed, in use, the pump is in a position such that the channel 20 is from the upper part of the chamber working 7 and is vertical.
- This valve 26 is itself equipped with a through channel 30 from the channel 20 to the capacity 28, which passes through a seat 31 and which has a valve 32, normally returned to the seat 31 by a return spring 33 whose force is adjustable.
- the valve 32 leaves its seat 31 only when the difference in the pressures which prevail respectively in the capacity 28 and in the channel 20 is greater than the calibration of the spring 33.
- the figure 3 is the block diagram of the elements represented in the figure 2 with the same references.
- the pressure in the channel 20 varies between the discharge pressure of the pump and its suction pressure.
- the pressure in this chamber is such that the holding force of the valve 32 on its seat 31 (which is typically equal to a value able to withstand the value the discharge pressure increased by the value of the suction vacuum) is exceeded and this valve opens, allowing a refilling of the working chamber 7 by a complement of fluid contained in the capacity 28, under the gas bag 34. Compensation for leaks which, if they are small because of the construction of the pump, necessarily exist as in any moving mechanical system, is thus permanently ensured.
- the initial feeding of the circuit of the working fluid allows the constitution of this surplus of fluid necessary for the compensation.
- the consumption of the working oil by the leaks is apparent through the transparent plug 29.
- the level of the bath in the capacity 28 can indeed be monitored there (for example emergence of the end of the stem of the valve 32 to the surface of this bath).
- the figure 4 illustrates an alternative embodiment of the means described with regard to Figures 2 and 3 .
- This variant embodiment makes it possible to preset the calibration of the degassing and replenishing valve, independently of the operating conditions of the pump and in particular of its maximum discharge pressure, to a value directly related to the desired suction height.
- a tubular end piece 40 is sealed, by screwing into the pump body 6, at the outlet of the channel 20.
- This end piece defines an inner chamber 40a which communicates with the channel 20 through a seat 41 formed at its base and turned towards the channel 20.
- a valve 42 is returned to this seat by a spring 43.
- the valve 42 is guided in a tubular liner 44 reported sealingly, by screwing, on the top of the nozzle 40.
- This valve 42 has an internal channel 45 which also communicates with the channel 20 through a seat 46 on which a ball valve 47 is recalled by the effect of its own weight or with the help of a very weak return spring.
- the ball defines with the channel 45 a degassing passage 48.
- the channel 45 opens into the chamber 40a of the nozzle.
- the valve 42 has a sealed capacity 49 which communicates with the chamber 40a. This sealed capacity is closed by a transparent top cap 50. It will be noted that the spring 43 is mounted in an interior space 44a of the jacket 44 for guiding the valve 42, this space being closed by a cap 51, also transparent, for protecting the this space remains at atmospheric pressure.
- the pressure in this chamber is such that the holding force of the valve 42 on its seat 41 by the spring 43 (which is typically equal to a value suitable for resisting the value of the suction vacuum increased resistance to sliding due to the seal between the liner 44 and the valve 42)) is exceeded and this valve opens, allowing a refeeding of the working chamber 7 by a complement of fluid contained in the chamber 40a and the capacitor 49, under the gas bag 52.
- the compensation of leaks is thus ensured permanently.
- the initial feeding of the circuit of the working fluid allows the constitution of this surplus of fluid necessary for the compensation.
- the consumption of the working oil by the leaks is apparent through the transparent plugs 50 and 51.
- the level of the bath in the capacity 49 can indeed be monitored there.
- capacitors 28, 49 are extremely advantageous in combination with the membrane integral with the piston head, they can be omitted and replaced by another oil leakage compensation system.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a hydraulically controlled diaphragm pump and more specifically to a diaphragm pump with a high suction capacity.
The diaphragm pumps known to date and subject to series production, generally have a suction capacity of the order of 4 meters of water column (or up to 7 meters of column of water in particular designs). This capacity can be increased by careful production that comes out of the standards of mass production, so that they are special devices distinct from conventional pumps, particularly in terms of price. These "special pumps" remain in a usual architecture, with a hydraulic oil leakage compensation valve (transmission oil leaking between a mechanically actuated piston back and forth and the diaphragm), a safety valve tared to allow the hydraulic oil to escape in case of overpressure, and a device for degassing and purging air to evacuate, usually continuously, air or gas which, on the one hand, is present in the circuit at moment of the start of the pump and, secondly, comes from the gases dissolved in the oil itself which return to the gaseous state due to the pressure variations of the medium which contains them in solution. The increase of the suction capacity in these "special pumps" results from the care taken in the manufacture and assembly of each of the parts that constitute the mobile crews of the pump so as to optimize the games and the adjustments between these different components.
There is a need for pumps with a high suction capacity (of the order of 9 meters of water column), which can be manufactured in series, thus with manufacturing and assembly constraints which are included in the tolerances. usual series manufacturing in the field, in order to stay in the market prices.
The invention is a response to this need in that it relates to a diaphragm pump, whose architecture is modified to limit or even eliminate some of the elements for which manufacturing tolerances must be very tight to achieve the performance of suction required.
- a pump head in which a first deformable membrane delimits a pumping chamber,
- a pump body which delimits with the first membrane a hydraulic working chamber,
- a piston movably movable back and forth in the pump body to form a controlled movable wall of the working chamber.
The controlled mobile wall of the working chamber also comprises at least a second membrane, integral with the piston head and the pump body, which seals the hydraulic working chamber.
To complete this seal, a third membrane is disposed between the piston and the body of the pump to form in the pump body, with the second membrane integral with the piston head, a closed chamber filled with oil in which the piston and the body slide together. So, the second front membrane is able to collect the discharge pressure of the pump, while the third rear membrane can accept a large depression value corresponding to a large suction capacity.
The safety valve, to protect the pump from overpressure, is a device that also limits the suction capacity of a pump. In the pump according to the invention, the piston is in two telescopic parts held in extension by a calibrated spring to a value corresponding to a safety instruction. The safety valve is then removed and thus the drawback that arises from its existence, with regard to the suction capacity.
Furthermore, in the pump of the invention, the working chamber is connected to a sealed reserve capacity for the supply and degassing of the working chamber by means of a pipe having two channels in parallel with one of the the other, the first degassing channel being equipped with a unidirectional valve in series with a section restriction whose direction is in the direction of the reserve capacity, the second feedback channel being equipped with a calibrated unidirectional valve whose passing direction is in the direction of the working chamber. This reserve capacity can be very small because the need for replenishment has been reduced. This small size allows it to reign in this capacity, without inconvenience, an important pressure which is that of repression of the pump that it is easy to isolate from the working chamber by a unidirectional valve when the working chamber is under a negative pressure at the suction. This capacity can accommodate the gas contained in the circuit and the oil in the working chamber which will accumulate above the reserve oil. To do this, the reserve capacity is located above the working chamber when the pump is in operation and the unidirectional degassing valve is a heavy body.
Finally, advantageously, the refeeding channel is formed in the body of the unidirectional degassing valve while the reserve capacity is formed in the form of an assembly attached to the body of the pump, this assembly comprising a transparent cap for monitoring the oil level in the capacity.
Other features and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description given below of an exemplary embodiment of the invention.

The other wall of this pumping chamber is formed by a first deformable membrane 5, known in itself, tightly sealed on its periphery between the head 1 and a
In the same way, a
In this way, the intermediate portion of the second membrane 9 and the intermediate portion of the
Thus between the second membrane 9 and the
Opposite the head, the

In the case where a lack of oil occurs in the
