Abstract

The glove (1) has a glove effectiveness monitoring device provided with an independent label (10) e.g. textile part, having an elapsed time visual indicator. The indicator includes a set of signs that are modifiable by hand such that the user modifies the signs at predetermined deadlines, so as to observe the glove at a given time for the number of past deadlines, where the signs are formed of square cases (11) or characters to be marked, blocked or surrounded using a marker e.g. ballpoint pen. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring a glove.

Description

The present invention relates to a professional glove, for example an anti-abrasion glove which wears as and when it is used, for example as a result of abrasion.

The problem of glove tracking stems directly from the crisis and the desire of professionals to wash their gloves, whereas so far they have been considered for single use only. The gloves are therefore used longer than before and glove wear increases as the washings progressively decreasing the protective performance to a level potentially lower than that marked on the glove.

The employer must ensure the conformity of the industrial protection equipment and the maintenance of its conformity status (defined by standards according to the type of protection claimed). However, the wear of the gloves varies according to their type of use and the time of utitisation.

As a result it is up to each employer to check that the washed gloves are compliant by establishing their own "calibration". The wash follow-up labels allow to set up an individual sorting of each glove reference according to the user station.

There are many wear-resistant gloves but these cause a complication in the manufacture of the glove and an increase in its price. This is for example the case of the solution presented by the document EP 1 637 049 , on which is based the preamble of the appended claim 1: there is provided a visual indicator automatically representing the elapsed time because it is based on a physical phenomenon of degradation over time, whether under the action of the light or chemical agents or heat.

In summary, professionals need to have an idea of the life span of gloves especially to know from when they become unusable, and this according to an inexpensive technique, and the purpose of the invention is to give by a simple way an indication of this life span and the effectiveness of the glove.

According to the invention, the glove comprises an efficiency monitoring device according to the appended claim 1. It consists of a label comprising a plurality of hand-modifiable signs so that the user can modify them at predetermined deadlines, these deadlines being related to the use of the glove, so that it is sufficient to observe the glove at at a given moment, for example when it is no longer effective, to know the number of deadlines passed and therefore have an indication of its lifetime and its effectiveness.

According to the invention, the detection of the elapsed time is greatly facilitated in that it does not rely on a complicated physical phenomenon but simply on a voluntary human intervention that makes the hand of the plurality of signs of which the visual indicator is constituted , at predetermined times, for example at each wash. This measure, simple as it may be, makes it possible to ensure the required efficiency monitoring, at a cost that is naturally much lower than what would be required by the solution of the aforementioned document.

In this way, it is possible for each employer to check that the washed gloves are compliant by establishing their own "calibration". The wash follow-up labels allow to set up an individual sorting of each glove reference according to the user station.

Advantageously, the label is an independent label, for example in the form of a textile piece, which is affixed to the glove at a suitable place, for example on the sleeve of the glove, and fixed by means such as gluing, welding, sewing, etc. The label may optionally be printed substantially indelibly on the glove. Advantageously, the label is a textile piece.

Avantageusement, ce nombre de signes est inférieur à 15.Advantageously, the signs may consist of boxes or characters to check, bar, surround, etc., with the aid of a marker, preferably substantially indelible. By substantially indelible means that the label and markings must withstand the time and the various washes that the glove must undergo during its service life. The number of pre-printed signs on the label is the maximum number of maturities that the glove typically encounters throughout its use. In practice, this number can be chosen rather small, so that it is easy to predict on a label of small size the number of signs enough to follow the product. Advantageously, this number of signs is less than 15.

The deadlines are advantageously chosen as washes that follow each use of the glove during a regulatory time (for example a day). In this case, it is sufficient for the operator to tick a box (if it is the sign chosen) at each wash. It has been found that in principle a number of washings is the maximum of what a glove will undergo in its use and therefore a label is advantageously provided which has 10 signs, for example 10 checkboxes, which can conveniently be arranged in tabular form.

The label may also include some lines or pictograms explaining the use of the label. The signs themselves can be in the form of pictograms reminiscent of washing, for example.

Thus, thanks to the invention, it is possible to follow at a glance the life of industrial gloves and compare them.

The invention also relates to a method of monitoring an industrial glove, according to which the glove is provided with a label comprising a plurality of hand-modifiable signs, and according to which the user of the glove modifies a sign with predetermined deadlines, of so that it suffices to observe the glove at a given instant, for example at the moment when it is no longer effective, to know, thanks to the number of modified signs, the number of deadlines passed and thus to have an indication of its lifetime.

Other features and advantages of the invention will emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment. Reference will be made to the accompanying drawings in which:
  • The figure 1 is a schematic view of a glove provided with the tracking device of the invention,
  • The figure 2 is a detailed view of the tracking device of the figure 1 .

Diagrammatically shown on the figure 1 a glove on a part of which has been fixed by gluing or other method of fixing a label 10 having graphic indications. These indications here consist of a table of 10 boxes 11 which can be ticked by hand, for example with a ballpoint pen, as shown at 12 each wash operation to keep track of it. A text 13 can complete the device. Square squares can be replaced by other shapes in particular a pictogram recalling the washing, and their number may be different.
