Description

The present invention belongs to the field of funeral articles, and more particularly to objects allowing the perpetuation of the memory of the deceased.

It concerns a funerary article for the identification and perpetuation of the memory of a deceased timelessly, made of unalterable material, including a premarketed element and a device for identification and memory kept by relatives. The invention also relates to a kit and a method for producing this funeral identification and memory article.

The evolution of our society, the generational questions have upset our references regarding the relationship to death, mourning and the maintenance of memory. With the development of cremation, concessions increasingly geographically distant from the place of residence of the descendants and the breakup of families, new questions arise today about the symbolic and physical significance of the death of a loved one.

It seemed necessary to respond to these developments by offering families the opportunity to maintain a link with their deceased relatives by keeping close to them a physical trace of the deceased, and a materialization of his memory, offering them the opportunity to gather in any place where this object will be preserved, a possibility of which they are very often deprived.

There are currently sites in the funeral sector on the Internet allowing communication between relatives and friends affected by a death, by posting and exchange of photographs, messages or other information. However, these sites remain virtual places.

The originality of the present invention consists in the creation of a material support for the identification of a deceased, comprising two sets of parts whose destination and functions are different and complementary, this support allowing a concretization of the memory and a traceability perpetual and timeless of a deceased. It allows to maintain a symbolic link with the disappeared and to honor its memory, to identify it to accompany and find it whatever the type of funeral to which its disappearance will have given rise.

The first of these two sets consists essentially of a piece, previously marked with a code, unalterable, which will be deposited in the coffin and will then remain with the remains or with the ashes, thus creating a symbolic link and allowing in same time an identification of the remains, whatever their fate later. This room is assigned to the deceased from the care of the funeral.

The second set comprises pieces comprising both the same code as that of the piece accompanying the remains of the deceased, and secondly personalized data, such as a drawing representing a portrait, an ideal, a souvenir, or a text, for example a poem, an indication of civil status, a message or other, these pieces being intended to be given to the family or to be assigned to a place of remembrance.

The difficulty lies in the fact that the funeral ceremonies take place very quickly after the death, but that the realization of an unalterable personalized element requires at least ten days, and in practice two to three weeks. Therefore, we can not have a personalized item before the ceremony and place this item with the deceased in due time: the identification of the remains through an inalterable and timeless piece indicating the deceased's civil status is thus impossible.

The present invention addresses the concerns of families in overcoming this disadvantage. It is based on the use of a funerary article whose assembly given to the family is a device comprising two associated plates, having the same code number as the first element disposed in the coffin on the day of the burial or with the ashes on the day of cremation. These plates contain personalized data relating to the deceased. This device will also receive information about the deceased on a dedicated thematic site, whether the body was buried or cremated.

According to the invention, a new instrument is created comprising three elements whose destination and functions are different and complementary. A first element, previously marked with a code, is intended to be deposited with the body during burial or cremation. Two other elements are intended to be associated and given to the family. One of them can be marked in advance with the same code as the item accompanying the remains of the deceased, the other is engraved or printed with personalized data in the days or weeks following the funeral ceremony. Anyway, finally both elements carry the same code.

While the cremation clears all physical traces of the dead, and the current practice is limited to deliver the funeral urn to the family containing the ashes, the inventors have chosen to develop an unalterable identification device to keep an emotional trace and material of the person. In the same way, this device offers those who are far from the burial place of their parents the opportunity to gather.

• and on the other hand, a pair of plates held together by a fixing means, both being marked with said unique code, the second plate also having identification data of said natural language deceased, to constitute an identification device and memory.

The unique code is assigned to the deceased on the day of burial or cremation. If by accident the two attached plates, both of which have the unique code, dissociate under the effect of time or extreme conditions, it would still be possible to relate a code and an identity.

Similarly, it may be interesting to include on the two assembled plates, as on the first element, the address of a website hosting a database associating codes and identities.

By immutable material is meant a rotproof and indestructible material, which does not degrade over time, nor because of oxidation, nor because of moisture, nor because of changes in the ambient temperature. Objects made of such materials have a timeless character. Examples include ceramics, glass, stone, stainless steel, as well as many polymeric materials. The three elements are made of the same material inalterable or in different materials. However, as will be seen later, the first element being likely to undergo a steep rise in temperature if cremation is preferred, it will avoid making this element synthetic material. These materials are also suitable for the possibility that they offer to be printed or engraved and to preserve this marking durably.

Thus, according to the invention, the first element and the plates are made of an inalterable material chosen from fired printed ceramics, engraved glass, engraved stone, stainless steel, or any other material retained after being tested. Preferably, the three parts of the funerary article are made of ceramic for its resistance to high temperature.

The first element, which may be of any form, is marked with a code uniquely assigned to a given deceased. The marking can be done by printing and baking ceramics, by engraving, or by any other suitable method. The assigned code is unique: it is assigned to a single set of three plates, once and for all, and will be uniquely assigned to a deceased. The assignment of a given code to a deceased is done as soon as it is taken over by the funeral director responsible for the organization of the ceremony. It can immediately include it in a specific computer file, to make accessible online a page containing a certain amount of information intended for family and friends. The unique code may also serve as an access code to this information which is then broadcast to a small circle of people.

The funerary article object of the invention also comprises a pair of plates each carrying the same code number assigned to the deceased, held together by a fixing means. The plates are thus linked by a fastening means which unites them in an articulated or fixed manner, on one side or on one side. One can for example use two rings now the two plates by one side, such as the two parts of a booklet. It is also possible to use a means of fixing the plates back to back, by mechanical means (clips, legs, rings, etc ...), or by gluing. Once the plates associated, the set is a device for identification and memory, which will remain in the possession of the family.

The second plate includes identification data of said deceased in natural language. These data having among other functions, that of allowing the identification of the person resting in the burial, it is desirable that they bring at least essential information of his civil status. Beyond that, it is always possible to choose the data that one wishes to see written on this plate. They can for example imitate the page of an official document of the passport type, including or not a photo, or reproduce the signature of the deceased, an extract of one of his letters, or combine several types of said information. Optionally, the second plate may also include the coded data, as well as the address of a website listing the identification data and codes.

In addition to the code and the personalized data, the three elements of the funerary object of the invention, or some of them only, can be designed with a neat and original aesthetic. Colored backgrounds can for example be made, using a solid hue or reproducing an original creation, to enhance the function of symbolic representation of the identification device and memory thus produced.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the two plates are of the same dimensions, and are held fixed back to back, so that the first plate constitutes a front of the identification and memory device, and the second plate constitutes a back of said device. The plates are for example rectangular, the format of a postcard or an identity document such as a passport.

In a preferred form of the invention, the plates are held together by an adhesive material placed between the plates in the vicinity of their border, so as to provide a gap between the two plates. The presence of this gap gives the possibility of inserting a souvenir object between the plates, and remove it if desired.

The adhesive material used to make the funerary article according to the present invention may be a double-sided adhesive frame occupying the entire length of the edge of the plates, so that the gap between the two plates is a permanently closed space able to receive the DNA, an object or a material representing the deceased. In this case, the device is sealed, and it is not possible to recover the contents.

A letter, an intimate epitaph, a medal, a small piece of cloth, a photograph, or any other souvenir, or a lock of hair, or another body substance of the deceased person may be preserved, which may contain, in particular, DNA. The deceased himself can, if he organizes his funeral, predict what he wants to keep.

Conveniently, the funerary article of the invention further comprises, placed in the interstice formed between the plates, a plastic bag, adapted to contain DNA, an object or a material representing the deceased. It may advantageously be provided with a hermetic sealing means in order to better protect the contents and to prevent its dispersion.

According to a particular embodiment of the present invention, the funeral article also marked said unique code, comprises a plurality of pairs of plates, each first plate marked with said unique code assigned to said deceased being attached to a second plate marked with data identification of said deceased in natural language. It is then possible to form several identification and memory devices corresponding to the same deceased, and to give one of these devices to each member of the bereaved family.

The article as just described is presented in the state where it is ready for its reception by the families. However, as explained above, it is not possible to achieve all of its elements at the same time. Thus, the element (and possibly the first plate) is advantageously previously marked with the unique code and stored. The element is thus available from the care of the deceased by the funeral services, while the plates (or only the second plate) are performed after burial or cremation. The two plates must then be fixed together to form definitively the article of memory and identification of the deceased. It is therefore seen that it is convenient to dispose separately of all the elements intended to participate in the realization in two stages of the device constituting the funerary article object of the invention.

• a housing adapted to contain at least said first plate, said second plate and said fixing means, said housing being provided with a guide frame adapted to receive said first and second plates and said fixing means, and to hold them in place during assembly to form an identification and memory device.

All the elements necessary for producing the article according to the invention are contained in the casing, facilitating both the packaging and the implementation of the invention, and further guaranteeing the identity of the marks coded on the plates. and the element.

A significant advantage of this kit is also that, when the second plate has been marked with the selected data and any other customization if desired, it can be assembled with the first plate, using the fixing means (advantageously a strip of double-sided adhesive), and this with excellent accuracy, which is essential because the adhesive used is chosen for its binding strength and durability properties, it is difficult, if not impossible, to replace it. • v) assembling said plates thus marked with a fixing means, to form an identification and memory device.

In accordance with the explanations given above, it is understood that the step i) of marking the element of unalterable material with a unique code can be carried out initially, the marked parts can be stored as much as desired, the very fact their unalterable character.

Step ii) assigning the unique code to a deceased and collecting identification data of said deceased is carried out as soon as the body is taken over by the funeral services.

In step iii), said premarketed element can be deposited in the coffin during the closing ceremony. If the body is to be buried, it will remain there. If cremation is preferred, it can remain attached to the urn that receives the ashes of the deceased.

As soon as the funeral services have collected the identification data of the deceased that the relatives want to see appear on the identification and memory device, the marking of the second plate can start. When the plates are made of fine porcelain, which allows reproductions of photographs or patterns of high precision and excellent fidelity of colors, special cooking conditions must be implemented, comprising several steps and for several days. Finally, the two plates are joined in step v) to form the identification and memory device according to the invention.

According to a particular embodiment of the method according to the invention, step v) of association of the two plates is carried out by placing in order, said first plate, said fastening means consisting of a double-sided adhesive frame devoid of its protective film, and said second plate, in a housing provided with a guide frame, and exerting pressure on the assembly.

Furthermore, the method according to the invention may comprise, before step v) of association of the two plates, a step of placing in the gap between said DNA plates, an object or a material representing the deceased, possibly enclosed in a plastic bag.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the method comprises the registration in a database of the unique code assigned to the deceased, associated with the identification data of said deceased in natural language. This coded number is thus the pivot of the coordination between the manufacture of the identification document of the deceased, its inclusion in a database and the management of its space on a website.

The present invention allows the preservation of a trace of the deceased in relation to his identity and his entourage. It facilitates the management of a delicate circumstance by taking into account computer but especially softens with a touch of humanity: as soon as the company in charge of the funeral will have alerted the central agency, the death and the deceased will appear in databases of the site and the steps of relatives or those who want to show solidarity with professionals or administrations and cults will be facilitated. Many documents and standard letters will be obtained online and will save valuable time, orders can also be made online from the companies that will be entrusted with the funeral because they will appear as ordering of the ceremony.

This type of management does exist already on sites dedicated to funerals, but the trivialization of the use of computers and telecommunications should not have as a corollary to prevent any manifestation of mourning more individualized and humanized.

EXAMPLE 1 Structure

The funerary article as presented consists of three high-tech porcelain plates of vertical rectangular shape intended to form on the one hand ( figure 1 ) the identification and memory device 5, on the other hand ( figure 2 ) element 1 marked with a unique code. The three plates have distinct and complementary functions in the identification process of the deceased. The selected materials are resistant to all forms of erosion, which gives its durability to the product and its contents, allowing the perpetual identification of the deceased.

The identification and memory device 5 is in the form of a document of the passport type, front and back. It consists of the pair of plates 3 and 4, which are held together by the adhesive frame 2 fixing. The first plate 3 is marked with the unique code 11, and the second plate 4 comprises the identification data 14 of the deceased in natural language, the assembly constituting the identification and memory device 5.

The element 1 and the first plate 3 are marked with the unique code 11 assigned to said deceased. Note that in the illustrated model, the first plate 3 and the marked element 1 are identical and have the same coded number 11, but their destination is different.

The plates 3 and 4 and the element 1 are made of fine porcelain, noble material by its selected components which are the object of a particular cooking making them unalterable. Specific techniques are used to preserve the liveliness of their colors in decor and inscriptions during climbs at high temperatures (1000 ° C).

The plates 3 and 4 are assembled to form the identification and memory device 5 with a closed-cell double-sided polyethylene adhesive 2. Tested under difficult conditions, the adhesive proved to be very effective for its durability over a temperature range of -40 ° C to + 80 ° C.

Such a solution keeps the human touch of the clientele with an experienced professional and offers an aesthetic and personalized product within a psychological time to the extent of the accomplishment of the work of mourning and accompanying relatives.

EXAMPLE 4: Implementation

The procedure is different depending on the mode of funeral chosen.

CREMATION: Element 1, pre-marked with the coded number 11 entered in the site dedicated to the memory, will have accompanied the deceased during the ceremony. He will return with the ballot box of which he is a solidary, to the company of funeral.

The complete identification and memory device will be received twenty days after the death by the funeral company operator who will assemble the two plates 3 and 4 to form the complete device including a fragment of it. tissues containing DNA or any other element. The ballot box will be delivered to the relatives of the deceased at the same time as the identification and memory device 5.

Claims (12)

1. Process for the production of a funerary article for the identification and the perpetuation of the memory of a deceased individual, characterized in that it essentially comprises the stages that consist in taking an element (1) made of unalterable material selected from amongst baked ceramic, glass, stone, stainless steel, a first (3) and a second (4) plates made of unalterable material selected from amongst ceramic, glass, stone, stainless steel, and in :

   - i) Marking said element (1) made of unalterable material with a unique code (11),

   - ii) Assigning said unique code to a deceased individual and collecting the identification data (14) of said deceased individual,

   - iii) Placing said element (1) that is premarked with the unique code with the body or the ashes of the deceased,

   - iv) Marking said first and second plates (3, 4) with said unique code (11) and marking the second plate (4) with said identification data (14) in natural language,

   - v) Assembling said thus marked plates one with another, using an attachment means (2), for forming a device for identification and remembrance (5).
2. Process according to Claim 1, characterized in that stage v) for combining the two plates (3, 4) is carried out by placing in order said first plate, said attachment means consisting of a double-surface adhesive frame from which its protective film has been removed, and said second plate, in a housing that is equipped with a guide frame, and by exerting pressure on the unit.
3. Process according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises, before stage v) for combining two plates (3, 4), a stage that consists in placing DNA, an object or a material (8) that represents the deceased, in the gap that exists between said plates.
4. Process according to the preceding claim, characterized in that said object or a material (8) is contained in a packet (9) made of plastic material.
5. Process according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises the recording, in a database, of the unique code (11) that is assigned to the deceased individual, combined with identification data (14) of said deceased individual in natural language.
6. Timeless funerary article for the identification and perpetuation of the memory of a deceased individual, characterized in that it comprises, produced in unalterable material selected from amongst baked ceramic, glass, stone, stainless steel:

   - On the one hand, an element (1) that is marked with a unique code (11) that is assigned to said deceased individual,

   - And, on the other hand, a pair of plates (3, 4), each marked with said unique code, held together by an attachment means (2), the second plate also comprising identification data of said deceased individual in natural language for constituting a device for identification and remembrance.
7. Funerary article according to Claim 6, characterized in that the two plates (3, 4) have the same dimensions and are held attached back-to-back in such a way that said first plate constitutes a front (6) of the device for identification and remembrance (5) and said second plate constitutes a back (7) of said device.
8. Funerary article according to any of Claims 6 or 7, characterized in that the plates (3, 4) are held together by an adhesive material (2) that is placed between said plates in the vicinity of their edge in such a way as to provide a gap between them.
9. Funerary article according to the preceding claim, characterized in that the adhesive material (2) is a double-surface adhesive frame that occupies the entire length of the edge of the plates (3, 4) in such a way that the gap between said two plates is a closed space that can contain DNA, an object, or a material (9) that represents the deceased.

Funerary article according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises a number of pairs of plates (3, 4), each first plate (3) marked with said unique code (11) that is assigned to said deceased individual being attached to a second plate (4) that is also marked with said unique code and with identification data (14) of said deceased individual in natural language.
11. Kit for the production of a timeless funerary article for the identification and the perpetuation of the memory of a deceased individual according to one of the claims 6 to 10, characterized in that it comprises:

    - An element (1) made of unalterable material selected from amongst baked ceramic, glass, stone, stainless steel, marked with a unique code (11) that is assigned to said deceased individual,

    - A first plate (3) made of unalterable material selected from amongst baked ceramic, glass, stone, stainless steel, marked with said unique code,

    - A second plate (4) made of unalterable material selected from amongst baked ceramic, glass, stone, stainless steel, marked with said unique code, of a suitable size for being assembled with said first plate,

    - A means (2) for attaching said first plate to said second plate,

    - A housing that can contain said first plate, said second plate, and said attachment means, said housing being equipped with a guide frame that can accommodate said first and second plates and said attachment means, and that can hold them in place during their assembly for forming a device for identification and remembrance (5).
12. Kit according to the preceding claim, characterized in that it comprises a means (2) for attaching plates that consists of a double-surface adhesive frame, and a packet (8) made of plastic material, able to contain DNA, an object or a material (9) representing the deceased.
