Abstract

L'invention concerne un séparateur centrifuge et un procédé destiné à réguler le niveau radial d'une couche d'interface (22) formée durant son fonctionnement entre une lumière et un liquide lourd dans une chambre de séparation (7) du séparateur centrifuge. La régulation comprend des moyens (26) destinés à détecter le niveau de la couche d'interface dans la chambre de séparation (7), et un dispositif (21, 23, 24) destiné à alimenter/décharger un liquide de régulation de/vers la chambre de séparation (7) au moyen d'une pompe (23) à vitesse variable, ces moyens (26) de détection du niveau de la couche d'interface étant conçus pour communiquer avec des moyens (25) de régulation de la vitesse de la pompe de manière que l'alimentation et le déchargement du liquide s'effectuent selon une quantité par unité de temps telle que la couche d'interface (22) dans la chambre de séparation (7) se situe dans des niveaux radiaux internes et externes prédéfinis.
