Description

The present invention relates to a tray for carrying objects, in particular containers such as cups. The present invention relates more particularly to a molded tray, made in particular from molded cellulose fibers, comprising two cells for receiving two cups.

It is known, in particular by the patent document US 6,076,876 such trays molded to carry two cups, these trays, conventionally called cup holders, are generally used in the field of fast food, especially for take-away. The tray includes a bottom wall, a peripheral wall extending upwardly from the bottom wall and defining an upper peripheral edge. The peripheral wall is formed of two longitudinal walls and two transverse walls. The two cells are disposed on either side of a central boss formed of a support gusset or transverse beam which connects the two opposite transverse walls of the peripheral wall.

To hold the cups, the lateral peripheral wall has, for each cell, inwardly curved portions with T-slots, which constitute flexible contact portions that can be deformed to firmly hold the cups in the cells and to fit to different sizes of goblets. For each cell, the wall comprises three flexible contact portions arranged at 120 ° to one another, a contact portion being centered on a transverse wall, the two others being arranged on the longitudinal walls, on the one hand and on the other side. other and close to the transverse beam.

The tray is provided with two stabilizing legs to stabilize the tray when it is placed on a flat surface, these two legs also serving as handles to grip the tray by its central portion.

This transverse beam transversely stiffens the plate between the two cells. However, such a plate does not have sufficient rigidity to be held with one hand on the side of one of its transverse walls, when the cell opposite to said transverse wall is loaded with a filled cup. Indeed, the plateau has tendency to bend along the transverse beam, and to bend or tear at the upper peripheral edge in the extension of the slots of the two contact portions which are arranged near the transverse beam.

The object of the present invention is to provide a cup holder plate overcoming the aforementioned disadvantages, which is resistant and rigid, in particular to be able to be held with one hand on the side of a transverse wall when it is loaded with filled cups.

To this end, the present invention provides a tray for carrying objects, in particular containers such as cups, comprising two cells for receiving two objects, said plate comprising a bottom wall, a lateral peripheral wall extending upwards. from the bottom wall, and defining an upper peripheral edge, the lateral peripheral wall being formed of two longitudinal lateral walls interconnected by two lateral transverse walls, and a central boss on either side of which the two cells are arranged,
characterized in that said central boss comprises two longitudinal walls arranged vis-à-vis the longitudinal side walls of the plate, and connected to said longitudinal side walls by at least one longitudinal junction line, to form two longitudinal reinforcing beams.

According to the invention, the plate has two longitudinal beams extending from one cell to the other, each beam being formed by a central portion of a longitudinal longitudinal wall and a longitudinal wall of said boss connected to one another. other according to at least one connecting line. These longitudinal beams make it possible to rigidify the plate longitudinally, and thus to hold it once loaded only with one hand, on the side of a lateral transverse wall. Moreover, when a cup is loaded into a cell, the wall of the cup preferably bears against the longitudinal side walls. The cup thus prevents the longitudinal walls from moving towards each other and thus contributes to the stiffening of the plate.

According to a feature, said longitudinal beams have a height, defined between the upper peripheral edge and said junction line, which is at least equal to one third of the height of the plate, defined by the distance between said upper peripheral edge and the wall of bottom, preferably at least half the height of the tray.

According to one embodiment, each longitudinal beam is formed by a longitudinal wall of the central boss and a central longitudinal lateral wall portion connected to each other by a junction wall, each beam thus having a substantially shaped cross section of U, the branches of the U preferably being inclined outwards. Such a generally U-shaped beam structure provides good rigidity.

According to one embodiment, said junction wall of each longitudinal beam is constituted by a central portion of the bottom wall of the plate, said central portion being disposed substantially in said lower plane of the plate. The boss thus extends from the bottom wall away from the longitudinal side walls. The longitudinal beams thus formed extend over the entire height of the plate, guaranteeing good longitudinal rigidity. Furthermore, the tray placed on a flat surface rests by its two longitudinal beams, which ensures a good stability of the plate.

According to one embodiment, said central boss extends over a height, defined by the distance between the bottom wall and the top of the boss, at least equal to half the height of the plate, preferably to a substantially equal height. at the height of the plateau.

According to one embodiment, each cell comprises at least two contact portions intended to come into contact with a cup inserted into the cell, said central boss comprising two transverse walls each constituting a contact portion of a cell. The boss is a constituent part of the cell, the cups bearing against said boss. In this embodiment, the boss preferably has a height substantially equal to the height of the plate.

According to one embodiment, each lateral longitudinal wall has two inwardly curved portions, which constitute each a contact portion for a cell, each cell comprising three contact portions preferably disposed substantially at 120 ° from each other.

When the tray loaded with cups is held in one hand on the side of a transverse wall, the longitudinal side walls undergo significant stresses at the ends of each longitudinal beam. The use of the central boss as a contact portion makes it possible to move the contact portions of the longitudinal walls away from the beams and thus to avoid, when said contact portions have slots, a weakening of the longitudinal walls in areas of significant stress.

According to one embodiment, said contact portions are provided with slots, preferably inverted T slots, to form deformable flexible contact portions, which can deform to firmly hold the cups in the cells and to adapt to different sizes of goblets.

Advantageously, the upper peripheral edge is extended by a peripheral flange, preferably substantially horizontal, said peripheral flange being advantageously provided with pads, preferably on its underside, to facilitate the unstacking of trays.

According to one embodiment, said plate is made of molded cellulose fibers, preferably by molding a preformed part by application and suction of an aqueous slurry of cellulose fibers on a mold, and then drying the preformed part between two heated matrices.

  • les figures 1 et 2 sont respectivement une vue en perspective de dessus et de dessous d'un plateau porte-gobelets selon l'invention ;
The invention will be better understood, and other objects, details, features and advantages will become more clearly apparent from the following detailed explanatory description of a particular presently preferred embodiment of the invention, with reference to the schematic drawings. annexed, in which:
  • the Figures 1 and 2 are respectively a perspective view from above and below of a cup holder tray according to the invention;

The tray comprises a bottom wall 2, a side peripheral wall 3 extending upwardly from the bottom wall and extending at its upper peripheral edge by a peripheral rim 4. The bottom wall 2 is substantially planar and defines a lower plane by which said tray is intended to be placed on a flat surface.

The lateral peripheral wall 3 is formed of two longitudinal lateral walls 31 extending symmetrically on either side of the longitudinal plane P1 of symmetry of the plate, and two lateral transverse walls 32 extending symmetrically on either side of the plane. P2 transverse symmetry of the plateau. These walls 31, 32 are inclined outwardly with respect to the vertical.

A central boss 5 extends upwards from the bottom wall 2, between the lateral peripheral wall, said boss comprising two longitudinal walls 51 and two transverse walls 52 connected in the upper part by an upper wall 53. Each longitudinal wall is arranged along and at a distance from a substantially flat central portion 311 of a lateral longitudinal wall 31. The height of the boss 5, defined by the distance between the bottom wall 2 and the upper wall 53, is substantially equal to the height of the lateral peripheral wall defined by the distance between the bottom wall and the upper peripheral edge, called also plateau height. The section of the boss decreases from bottom to top, the longitudinal walls 51 and the transverse walls 52 being inclined relative to the vertical.

The longitudinal walls 51 are substantially flat and form with the central portions 21 of the bottom wall and the substantially flat central portions 311 of the longitudinal side walls 31 of the longitudinal reinforcement beams 6. Each longitudinal beam has a generally U-shaped cross-section, the base of which is formed by the central portion 21 of the bottom wall 2 and whose branches inclined outwards are formed by a longitudinal wall 51 of the boss 5 and the central portion 311 of a longitudinal longitudinal wall 31.

Each cell is formed between the two longitudinal side walls 31, a lateral transverse wall 32, and a transverse wall 52 of the boss 5. Each cell comprises three flexible contact portions intended to bear against the side wall of a cup inserted in the cell. Two contact portions are formed by portions 312a, 312b curved inwardly of the lateral longitudinal walls, the third contact portion being formed by a transverse wall 52 of the boss, the latter also preferably being curved inwards. The two portions 312a, 312b of contact of the longitudinal walls are arranged symmetrically on either side of the longitudinal plane P1 of the plate, the three portions being disposed substantially at 120 ° from each other.

Each contact portion is provided with a slot 7 in the general shape of inverted T, with a first slot portion 71 extending substantially parallel to the bottom wall 2, and a second slot portion 72 extending substantially vertically towards the top since the first part. The portion 22 of the bottom wall 2 at each cell is curved upwards and is provided with a boss 8, in the vicinity of each of the three slots 7, along the first portions 71 of said slots. The cups may come to bear against their bottom against the three bosses 8 of a cell. In the case of small cups, the bosses can engage on the inner side of the lower annular edge of the cup to improve its maintenance.

Preferably, the tray is obtained by firstly molding a preformed part by application and suction on a mold of an aqueous slurry of cellulosic fibers, then drying the preformed part between a male matrix and a matrix female who are heated. This step of drying between two dies makes it possible to obtain a plate having a better mechanical strength, a smooth aspect and a better dimensional reproducibility which assures a facility of stacking and a more compact stacking.

The upper peripheral rim 4 extends substantially horizontally and is provided with studs 41 extending downwards from its underside. These studs, of high density, serve as stops to limit the interlocking trays into each other and thus facilitate their unstacking.

Although the invention has been described in connection with a particular embodiment, it is obvious that it is not limited thereto and that it comprises all the technical equivalents of the means described and their combinations if they are within the scope of the invention.
