Auch zur unmittelbaren Sicherung der Waffe wurden neben mechanischen Lösungen mit schlossartigen Verriegelungen auch bereits elektronische Sicherungsmechanismen mit personenbezogenen Authentifizierungssystemen vorgeschlagen. Die bisher bekannten Sicherungsvorrichtungen sind jedoch in der Regel für Pistolen oder Revolver konzipiert und weisen einen relativ aufwändigen Verriegelungsmechanismus auf.Due to increasing frequency of abuse, efforts are often made to prevent the unauthorized use of handguns. In vorteilhafter Weise kann der Verriegelungsmechanismus den Verriegelungselementen zugeordnete Sperrelemente aufweisen, die zwischen einer Sperrstellung zur Verhinderung einer Entnahme des Einsatzes aus dem Gewehr und einer Freigabestellung zur Entnahme des Einsatzes aus dem Gewehr bewegbar sind. Die Verstellung der Sperrelemente erfolgt zweckmäßigerweise durch die vorzugsweise als Stellantrieb ausgeführte Stelleinrichtung, wobei die Sperrstellung z.B. auf mechanische Weise beim Einstecken des Einsatzes in den Magazinschacht und die Freigabe bzw. Entriegelungsstellung durch die Stelleinrichtung bei Erkennung der ordnungsgemäßen Daten durch den Biometriesensor erreicht werden kann. Es ist aber auch möglich, dass sowohl die Verschiebung der Sperrelemente in die Freigabestellung als auch die Verschiebung der Sperrelemente in die Sperrstellung durch die Stelleinrichtung in Abhängigkeit von den durch den Biometriesensor ermittelten Daten erfolgt.The locking mechanism suitably contains locking elements arranged on the insert for locking the insert in a magazine shaft of the rifle in a lockable manner.
