Description

The invention relates to a debarking knife according to the preamble of claim 1.

For debarking of tree trunks devices are known through which the tree trunks are passed. Several barking tools mounted on radially arranged arms pull the bark tangentially away from the tree trunks. Over time, the working edge of such knife, which is also cutting edge, becomes dull and the result of debarking is no longer satisfactory or can only be achieved by increasing the contact pressure of the arms to the trunk, which means an increased power requirement.

In order to counteract a too rapid dulling and a too frequent knife exchange, it is known to provide the debarking knife on the side facing the tree trunk with a strip-shaped hard material layer having the cutting edge along the working edge, so that the region of the cutting edge consists of a more resistant material. This allows a service life of up to 6 weeks.

A debarking knife according to the preamble of claim 1 is known from US 5896902 known.

Object of the present invention is to provide a debarking knife of the type mentioned, which has a relation to the prior art significantly increased life.

To solve the problem, a debarking according to claim 1 is provided.

When the blade is used, the surface of the blade facing the surface to be removed in the region of the main body adjacent to the hard material layer is degraded more rapidly than in the area of the hard material layer, resulting in a self-sharpening effect which not only keeps the blade sharp, but even with the time aggressive night. The debarking can therefore be done in comparison to the prior art with constantly low contact pressure and therefore with lower drive power. Also do not have to be used as before various knives for summer operation and winter operation. An inventive knife with the dimensions of previous summer knife can also be used in winter, resulting in the production and storage simplifications and costs can be saved. Tests have shown that with the knives according to the invention at least three to four times longer service lives can be achieved. After 20 weeks of use, the knife is in an ideal condition, so that a service life of more than 20 weeks is to be expected.

According to a preferred embodiment, the width of the strip-shaped hard material layer is at least 4 mm, preferably between 6 and 12 mm.

Advantageously, a further strip-shaped layer of hard material is provided on the first surface transversely to the working edge on the rear edge in the conveying direction of the workpiece, which protects the edge of the knife when inserting the workpiece in a device provided with the knife, before the debarking process the arm pressing the knife the device leads in the correct radial position and therefore also subject to heavy wear.

The thickness of the or one of the strip-shaped hard material layers is in particular a maximum of 4 mm, preferably between 1.5 and 2.0 mm, in order to avoid too much rounding off in the area of the hard material layer during wear.

The or at least one of the strip-shaped hard material layers may be formed by a hard metal strip.

Alternatively, the or at least one of the strip-shaped hard material layers can be formed by a matrix with embedded hard material particles.

The second surface is advantageously normal to the first surface, which facilitates production.

To ensure a better grip, the hard material layer is welded onto the second surface.

In the Fig. 1 The barking device shown has a body 1 in which a drum 22 rotates, having a central through opening 2. Three each before and behind the opening 2 arranged, radially displaceable to the opening 2 conveyor rollers 3 (only the rear conveyor rollers are shown in the figure ), which, as indicated in a roller, are provided with spikes 4 on its surface, carry the tree trunks to be debarked 7 through the opening 2. On the drum 22 are concentric with the opening 2 a plurality of arms 5 pivotally mounted, whose ends in front of the opening 2 protrude and debarking 6 carry. If a tree trunk 7 with. Help the rear conveyor rollers 3 pushed through the opening 2 against the arms 5, the rear edges 8 of the debarking 6 come into engagement with the end face of the tree trunk 7 and guide the arms 5 to the outside until they rest on the circumference of the log 7. The contact pressure of the debarking 6 on the tree trunk 7 is controlled by the bearings 9 of the arms 5. The cutting edges 21 of the debarking knives 6 aligned parallel to the longitudinal axis of the log 7 are pressed against the outer circumference of the log 7 according to the contact pressure and remove the bark 11 of the log 7 spirally in accordance with the rotation of the drum 22 and the advance of the log 7 in the longitudinal direction. Alternatively, the arms 5 could be mounted with the knives 6 directly on the body 1 and the tree trunk 7 both rotated about its axis and pushed through the opening 2.

The FIGS. 2 to 5 show a knife 6 according to the invention, as shown in the in Fig. 1 shown device can be inserted into the arms 5. The knife 6 has a first surface 13 and a second surface 14 which together form the working edge 10. On the second surface 14, which faces away from the bark 11 of the tree trunk 7 in use, a strip-shaped hard material layer 15 with the cutting edge 21 is provided along the working edge 10. At its first surface 13, which faces the bark 11 located on the log 7 in use, the knife 6 has a strip-shaped hard material layer 12 along the rear edge 8 in the conveying direction of the tree trunk 7. This edge 8, which runs to the axis of the tree trunk 7 and in the device Fig. 1 the opening 2 faces, serves, as already to Fig. 1 described when feeding a new log 7 to guide the arms 5 to the circumference of the tree trunk 7, after which the debarking begins. Since this, edge 8 is subject to heavy wear, the provision of a layer of hard material 12 is useful to the knife 6 a high stand tent to veneer. The hard material layer 12 also prevents the erosion of the material of the base body 20 of the blade 6 under the hard material layer 15 and thus breaking the same. The holes 24 are used to attach the blade 6 to an arm 5 of the device according to Fig. 1 ,

In the FIGS. 6 to 9 you can see the tree trunk 7, the bark 11 is already partially removed, and an arm 5, which moves in the direction of the arrow. The mounted on the arms 5 knives (6 according to the invention, 16 according to the prior art) are with their cutting edges 21, 23 with a certain contact pressure on the tree trunk 7, so that upon rotation of the tree trunk. 7, the cutting edge 21, 23, the bark 11 is removed. The knife 6 according to the invention has on its side facing away from the bark 11 second surface 14, the strip-shaped hard material layer 15 with the cutting edge 21 along the working edge 10. The knife 16 of the prior art has on its the bark 11 facing surface 18 on the strip-shaped provided with the cutting edge 23 hard material layer 19, which extends along the working edge 17 of the body. By forming the cutting edges 21 and 23 in the hard material layers 15, 19, too rapid dulling of the knives is prevented.

After several weeks of use can be seen on the knives 6, 16 significant signs of wear, as in the FIGS. 8 and 9 are shown. The hard material layers 15, 19 are subject to wear. But above all, the softer material of the base body 20 of the knife 6,16 is removed.

In Fig. 9 recognizes that in the knife 16 of the prior art by the wear of the hard material layer 19, the underlying material of the base body 20 has been removed and the radius of the cutting edge 23 has increased significantly, ie the blade 16 has become dull. For the length of the service life is therefore in the prior art knife 16, it is important that the surfaces forming the working edge 17 be at an acute angle. The size of the angle but has stability reasons, a lower limit and the production of the working edge 17 with an acute angle is costly.

How to be in Flg. 8 sees in the knife 6 of the present invention also a wear of the hard material layer 15 has taken place. However, a much greater material degradation is carried out in the material of the base body 20 below the hard material layer 15. Due to the material degradation of the base body 20 results in a self-sharpening effect by which the knife 6 is even sharper than in the new state. The rounding of the cutting edge 21 is limited by the thickness of the hard material layer 15, which should therefore not be greater than 4 mm and preferably between 1.5 and 2 mm. Although in the case of the knife 16 of the state of the art, although the surface of the hard body 19 facing the bark 11 may also be degraded, the material of the body 20 can be degraded, but due to the geometrical arrangement of the hard material layer 19, no self-sharpening effect results:
