Abstract
Description
- The invention is for a safe whose walls and door are manufactured with a combination of two metals: iron on the outside and aluminium on the inside.
- Alternatively another object of the invention is the possibility of lining the inside walls made of iron and aluminium with a material layer for reinforcement and to improve the inside appearance of the safety box.
- On the market here are, and they may therefore be considered as state of the art, very strong safes and safety cabinets, which are also very heavy, used to store arms, money, documents, valuables such as jewels and other similar articles.
- Generally, these safes or safety cabinets, have structural features such as sidewalls, access doors, and top and bottom, comprising two separated iron plates, between which there is a layer of reinforced concrete, like a sandwich filling.
- This main disadvantage of this type of safes or cabinets is their weight and dimensions, for instance their walls can be up to 10 or more centimetres thick.
- Of course, these safes and safety cabinets that use reinforced concrete in their structure like a sandwich between two separate plates of iron, or sometimes steel, to increase strength, undesired contraction, are as has been said, too heavy and also very bulky, which enables them to be used by large companies such as banks and large gunsmiths and jewellers, but limits their market for private use at home or in the office, for storing documents and valuables.
- Alternatively and also as state of the art, there are safes and safety cabinets with several layers of plates of steel, manganese and iron, as a feature of manganese in these safes and cabinets is that it offers extra difficulty for undesired access, such as for instance the possibility of its walls or doors being drilled with special metal bits.
- This invention is a structure for the construction of sidewalls, access door, and top and bottom of safes and safety cabinets, especially destined to improve safety with less weight.
- The structure of this invention for the construction of sidewalls, access door, and other ingredients of the safes and safety cabinets, has a principal aim that of presenting great mechanical strength, and to display this mechanical strength as long a time as possible, when attacked with different tools available on the market, among which are hammering, cutting with an angle grinder, blowtorch, drilling, levering with crowbars and similar tools.
- The aforementioned mechanical strength for as long a time as possible is provided by the inner plate or sheet of aluminium, because aluminium is light, elastic to impact, it clogs up an angle grinder disc, retaining the cut when using a blowtorch, all of which lengthens the time it will resist the different types of tools.
- The entire structure of the walls of these safes or safety cabinets, may broken by different tools existing on the market, such as those mentioned above, the most important feature of the present invention being that their structure offers mechanical resistance as long a time as possible against undesired access.
- Mainly a wall for safes or safety cabinets, including in the concept of wall, sidewalls, rear, the front where the access door is installed and the top and bottom, the invention is characterised by comprising a multilayer assembly of at least two plates or sheets attached together, an outer one made of iron and an inner with one or several aluminium plates.
- The invention is also characterised by the fact that inside the plate or sheet of aluminium there may be at least a plate or sheet of iron or plate of any desired metal, including a second plate or sheet of iron, foam, plasterboard, wood, fabric or similar materials, with the additional feature that all of them are non-inflammable materials, giving the desired interior aspect.
- The preferential metal for the plates or sheets is steel.
- Other details and characteristics shall be shown throughout the description below referring to drawings attached to this report which are shown for informational but not limiting purposes a practical embodiment of the invention.

Figure 1 is a front elevation view of a safe or cabinet according to the invention, in which some of the inner design is revealed. -
Figure 2 is a cross-section view taken along the plane II-II inFigure 1 . -
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken along the plane III-III inFigure 1 . -
Figure 4 is a rear elevation view of the safe or cabinet of the present invention. -
Figure 5 is an enlarged detail D ofFigure 2 . -
Figure 6 is a perspective view of the multilayer assembly comprising several plates or sheets of different materials attached together, forming the walls, access doors and top and bottom of a safe or safety cabinet as referred to in this invention. - In one of the preferred embodiments of the invention and can be seen in the figures, a safe or safety cabinet has a generic shape with sidewalls (12), (13) and (14) and top and bottom (10) and (15). On the door (16) of these safes and cabinets are the devices for opening and encoding, as well others safety devices not included in the invention.
- The inside of the safes or cabinets and as can be seen in
fig. 2 also with a general shape displays their interior volume (17) in which there may be supports (18) to secure arms to the rear wall (14) as well one or several shelves (19). - The invention, as may be seen in
Fig. 5 has walls and a top and bottom built in a totally different manner to the current state of the art. Namely an exterior iron plate (20) covered inside (21) by a plate or sheet of aluminium (22) -as illustrated- or by several plates of aluminium. -
Figure 5 illustrates the radius (27) formed by opening and closing the door (16) with regard to the structure of the safe or safety cabinet of the invention, whose door has a lock (28). - Alternatively, another of the aims of the invention is the inner coating of the plate of aluminium (22) with a series of plates or sheets of different materials including a second plate or sheet (23) of iron, as is illustrated in
Fig. 5 , so that the walls, door and top and bottom of the safe or safety cabinet may be composed of a series of a plates or sheets of iron attached together (20) outer, aluminium (22) inner, iron (23) further inside, wood (24), plasterboard (25), and at least one additional inner plate (26) to provide a more pleasant and practical aspect to the inside of the safe. - The purpose of contributing improve the interior aspect of the shell or safety cabinet, as in some instances because it holds arms, jewels or similar valuable products, it is convenient for the user to be able to display them to customers without having to remove them, especially in the case of large-sized pieces, of considerable weight, or great value that it is better not to move.
- The purpose main of the invention is to increase the resistance of the walls (12), (13) and (14), door (16) and top and bottom (10) and (15) against thieves, not only by increasing the strength, but also by resisting the aforementioned actions to damage the safe and access the inside either by forcing the opening of the door (16) or by (17) cutting or drilling holes to remove the contents of the safe or cabinet, for the longest time possible.
- It is noted that the materials of the aforementioned plates or sheets are preferably non-inflammable.
- The metal in these plates or sheets is preferably steel (an iron-carbon alloy).
- Having sufficiently described this invention using the planes attached, it is easy to understand that any modification may be made to the detail which may be deemed to be appropriate, whenever these changes do not alter the scope and the essence of the invention summarised in the following claims.
