Abstract

Cette invention concerne un procédé et un système pour enregistrer et promouvoir la régénération des nerfs périphériques après une lésion. Les système et procédé comprennent une électrode de stimulation qui est implantée dans le segment proximal du nerf, au moins une électrode d'enregistrement qui est implantée dans le segment distal du nerf, une unité électronique implantable, un dispositif implantable libérant des agents destinés à stimuler la régénération nerveuse, tel qu'une micro-pompe, et une unité de calcul qui est, de préférence, placée extracorporellement pour la communication de données et le transfert de courant à l'unité électronique. Les signaux électriques qui sont générés par le segment distal des nerfs lésés, après excitation électrique appropriée du segment distal dudit nerf lésé, sont enregistrés à divers instants. L'analyse des signaux électriques enregistrés est utilisée pour évaluer l'état et l'évolution des axones neuronaux en cours de régénération; cette évaluation permet de déterminer divers paramètres de contrôle. Lesdits paramètres de contrôle sont utilisés par l'unité électronique pour contrôler la libération des agents de stimulation de telle manière que le traitement soit efficace, tout en maintenant l'administration des agents de stimulation à des niveaux sûrs.
