Abstract
Description
- The present invention refers to an identification wristband, and in particular, to the identification wristband for child use.
- For the identification wristband is for child use, it is necessary to provide safety to a maximum extent. Most of the existing identification wristbands are closed by a clip that may be closed and opened repeatedly. The identification wristband which contains the information of the kid can be fastened on the wrist of a kid for identification. However, it always necessary with two hands to close or open the clip on prior art wristbands, which is rather inconvenient. It takes a lot of time to complete these acts, especially for the young kids who not always are able to cooperate. Furthermore, the existing clip used on the wristband which can be closed or opened repeatedly has poor function in fastening as the band is very easily pulled out even in fastened position.
- The object of the present invention is to provide a kid identification wristband which can be fastened securely and is easy to use.
- The kid identification wristband according to the present invention comprises a clip and a band, wherein the clip consists of a lid part connected to a bottom part through a connecting part. At the centre of the bottom part a positioning column is provided, with two squeezing parts disposed symmetrically at the two opposite sides of the bottom part. The squeezing parts are provided with laterally protruding parts. Retaining pawls are provided on the lid part, and two inserting parts with grooves are disposed symmetrically at the two sides of the lid part, corresponding to the protruding parts set on said squeezing parts. An opening is provided at the connecting part, and another narrow opening is provided on the bottom part far away from the connecting part. The band is capable of being fastened to the clip in such a way that one end of the band is fixed by the positioning column and the other free end passes through the narrow opening of the bottom part and then the opening of the connecting part, thus being fastened between the bottom part and the lid part of the clip.
- The wristband is fixed between the lid part and the bottom part when the clip is closed as the two parts are connected through a connecting part. When one end of band is fixed, the other free end of the band passes through the narrow opening of the bottom part of the clip and goes around a wrist, then passing through the opening of the connecting part of the clip so that the free end comes between the lid part and the bottom part of the clip. Thus, when the clip is closed, the friction between the band and the narrow opening of the bottom part is increased; meanwhile, the band is snapped by the retaining pawls which also help to increase the friction so that the band is fixed firmly. The squeezing parts at two sides of the bottom part are corresponding to the inserting parts at two sides of the lid part. When the two squeezing parts are pressed the two protruding parts are released from the grooves, and consequently the clip is opened. It requires merely two fingers to operate, and therefore is easy to use.
- Said squeezing part is U-shaped, wherein the protruding part is provided on the inner wall of the squeezing part, which is received in the groove of the inserting part when the inserting part is inserted into the squeezing part at locking position. When the squeezing parts are pressed from the outside, the inner walls of squeezing parts move together with the protruding parts which are released from the grooves, and the inserting parts are therefore released from the squeezing parts. Hence, it is easy to operate and requires less strength to open the clip.
- The lid part and the bottom part of the clip may both be with round shape without sharp edges or corners, which will not cause scratches on the wearer's skin. Further, the symmetrical arrangement enables easy operation and better decoration effect.
- An opening is provided at one end of said band which is for co-operation with and fixing into position over said positioning column on the bottom part, enabling easy exchange of band without extra parts.
- The cross-section of the positioning column is of quadrilateral shape and projecting parts are set on the walls around the positioning column so as to provide a better fixation of the wristband. There are two rows of retaining pawls which are so arranged that they rest on different sides of the positioning column when the clip is closed, which provides more friction between the clip and the band so as to enable the wristband to be fixed more firmly in between the lid part and the bottom part.
- An information area is provided between said two rows of retaining pawls on the lid part, where an identification information carrier can be attached, which contains the same identification information as that on the band so as to provide double protection for identification information. Anti-slip strips in the form of elongated projections are provided on the outside of the squeezing parts, enabling convenient operation with fingers and also functioning as guidance of operation.
- The present invention has many advantages such as: the clip can be opened with merely two fingers; it is easy and safe to operate and the band can be firmly fastened around the wrist of a wearer.

- Referring to
Figures 1, 2 and3 , the kid identification wristband comprises aclip 1 and aband 2. Theclip 1 consists of alid part 4 connected to abottom part 3 through a connectingpart 5. At the centre of thebottom part 3, apositioning column 10 is provided, with twosqueezing parts 7 disposed symmetrically at two opposing sides of thebottom part 3. The squeezingparts 7 are provided with laterally projectingparts 8, seeFig. 4 . Two rows of retainingpawls 12 are provided on thelid part 4, and twoinserting parts 6 withgrooves 9 are disposed symmetrically at the two sides of thelid part 4; thegrooves 9 correspond in shape to the protrudingparts 8 provided on said squeezingparts 7 such as to provide locking engagement between squeezingparts 7 and insertingparts 6. Thesqueezing parts 7 are U-shaped, and theprotruding part 8 is provided at the inner wall of the squeezingpart 7 and received in thegroove 9 of theinserting part 6 when theinserting part 6 is inserted into thesqueezing part 7 in locking position. When the squeezingparts 7 are pressed from outside, the inner walls of squeezingparts 7 move together with theprotruding parts 8 which are released from thegrooves 9, and theinserting parts 6 are therefore released from thesqueezing parts 7. - An
opening 13 is provided at the connectingpart 5, and anothernarrow opening 14 is provided on thebottom part 3 which is far away from the connectingpart 5. Anopening 15 is provided at one end of theband 2, which is for co-operation with and fixing into position over saidpositioning column 10 on thebottom part 3. The other free end of theband 2 passes in sequence through thenarrow opening 14 and theopening 13 and is then fixed between thebottom part 3 and thelid part 4 of the clip. Two rows of retaining pawls, preferably with saw-tooth shape, extend from thelid part 4. When thebottom part 3 and thelid part 4 are in closed position, the two rows of theretaining pawls 12 are located at different, opposite sides of thepositioning column 10. - The
bottom part 3 and thelid part 4 are both in round shape, and thesqueezing parts 7 and theinserting parts 6 are arranged symmetrically on the two sides of the clip, which enables the clip to be easily operated by two fingers. Further, the clip is made of plastic without metal or small parts that easily drop off, and will cause no stimulation or irritation to the skin of the wearer; therefore it is well suited for use by children. Moreover, the clip looks like a watch, and thelid part 4 can be decorated with beautiful designs and patterns suitable for and attractive to the kids. - Referring to
Figure 4 , when thebottom part 3 and thelid part 4 are closed, theinserting parts 6 are inserted into the squeezingparts 7 with theprotruding parts 8 being received in thegrooves 9, theband 2 is therefore fastened firmly. Projectingparts 11 are set on the walls around thepositioning column 10 to secure theband 2 around the opening 15. The other free end of theband 2 passes in sequence through thenarrow opening 14 and theopening 13, and then is fixed between thebottom part 3 and thelid part 4 of the clip. When thebottom part 3 and thelid part 4 are in closed position, theband 2 is snapped by the two rows of theretaining pawls 12 and thepositioning column 10. Hence friction between the band and the clip is increased, and theband 2 is fastened and secured by the clip thereby. Furthermore, the other free end of theband 2 will pass through thenarrow opening 14 for a second time and at this position the band is pressed downward so as to increase the friction between the band and the clip. - An
information area 16 is provided between said two rows of retainingpawls 12 on thelid part 4, where an identification information carrier can be attached, containing the same identification information as that on theband 2 so as to provide double protection for identification information. Anti-slip strips 17 in the form of elongated projections are provided at the outside of the squeezingparts 7, enabling convenient operation with fingers. - It should be emphasized that the above-described embodiment of the present invention, merely set forth for a clear understanding of the principles of the invention. Many variations and modifications may be made to the above-described embodiment(s) of the invention without departing substantially from the spirit and principles of the invention. All such modifications and variations are intended to be included herein within the scope of this disclosure and the present invention and protected by the following claims.
