Description

The present invention relates to a tank more particularly intended to collect the waste during cleaning operations carried out by means of a road vehicle, whether motorized or not, of the urban sweeper type.

Un exemple de véhicule de ce type est décrit par exemple dans le document US 4 754 521 .Vehicles of this type are generally composed of a front structure intended to control the craft, extending rearwardly by a frame receiving a tank designed to collect the waste collected by cleaning means generally located under the frame , via a suction system and a turbine. An example of a vehicle of this type is described for example in the document US 4,754,521 .

In an urban cleaning vehicle, the waste present on the surface to be cleaned is initially grouped in the zone located substantially under the chassis of the vehicle by means for example of lateral brushes before being collected through a pipe of suction, the suction circuit being powered by a turbine. This turbine creates a flow that has the effect of allowing the collection of waste collected by the brushes and their transfer through a suction duct to the bucket or collection tank, the sucked air being then discharged to the outside the tank.

One of the problems to be solved is the presence of dust or debris in the exhaust air.

Various solutions have been proposed to limit discharges by regulating the air flow either by a specific arrangement of the suction means, or by the configuration of the tank.

Most vehicles use a position of the turbine under the tank of the vehicle. Such a modality is represented in particular in the document US 4,754,521 supra.

This design has a major disadvantage. Indeed, because of the positioning of the turbine under the waste collection tank, it is necessary to connect the turbine to this vessel by a conduit that will extend to the inside of the tank. Therefore, the bottom of the tank is not completely flat due to the presence of the duct extending inside, and there may arise problems of unequal distribution of waste within the tank and d emergence of undesired turbulence, hence the risk of rejection in the outgoing flow. In addition, the duct portion made inside the tank must extend to a relatively high height to then allow a removal of waste at the bottom of the tank. A too short duct would render the device completely inoperative by rapidly causing clogging phenomena by particles of the collected waste which would tend to accumulate in the immediate periphery of the mouth of the duct, with there also risks of large rejection Another mode known embodiment consists in the opposite to position the turbine on the top of the tank, and more specifically in the tank lid. A modality of this type is described for example in the patent EP 0750 072 . This modality nevertheless has various drawbacks, especially with regard to the center of gravity of the assembly which is offset upward, hence possible problems of stability or balance, especially when the vehicle is moving. Furthermore, the positioning of the turbine in the upper part complicates the routing of the ducts since it will be necessary to provide a passage between the waste collection port necessarily located in the lower part of the vehicle, under the frame, with a connection to the turbine located to the exact opposite in the upper part of the set. The blown air will be projected upwards, resulting in undesirable turbulence and clogging risks with an uncontrolled distribution of waste inside the tank and significant risks of external rejection. According to yet another embodiment, there are known turbines which are integral with the tank. An example of this type is represented by the document EP 0291844 . This modality has a major disadvantage. Indeed, the turbine is not dissociated from the tank, it will be necessary to pass through the point of rotation of the tank all the ducts and pipes, with high risk of rupture and premature wear, so of external rejection.

Finally, the document FR2912434 discloses a receiving tank for waste taken by a road vehicle, associated with suction means comprising a turbine and a suction pipe having a plurality of tubular portions forming a U. The tank is engulfed on the lower branch formed by the portion of tube disposed under the bottom of the tank. The two lateral branches formed by the outer tube portion or portions extend respectively on either side of the tank to join the upper part. However, the tank according to this document does not include any means for filtering the particles and separating them from the air discharged to the outside, hence the risk of dust and solids being discharged to the outside.

The present invention proposes to overcome these disadvantages by providing a refuse tank for a road vehicle which is independent of the waste suction means and which has internal arrangements for separating the particles sucked from the exhaust air. More particularly, the tank according to the invention is associated with a vertical axis turbine positioned under the tank, said turbine not tilting with the tank during the emptying operations, and an external suction duct cooperating with means of filtration and separation of particles disposed within the vessel.

The invention will be better understood through the description given below of a possible embodiment, and with reference to the appended figures, and in which:
  • the figure 1 is an overview of a road vehicle equipped with a tank according to the present invention,
  • the figure 2 is a detailed view of the tank according to the present invention,
  • the figure 3 illustrates the tilting of the tank represented in the figure 2 , and
  • the figure 4 is a front sectional view of the tank showing the filtration and separation means of the particles.

In the following description, reference will be made by way of example to a tank associated with a motorized urban sweeper type road vehicle. Of course, the particular conditions of the tank according to the invention can perfectly be used in combination with another type of vehicle or device for the maintenance of surfaces.

The figure 1 represents a conventional type of road vehicle on which a tank according to the present invention has been arranged.

In a conventional manner, the vehicle is composed of a chassis (1), which here is articulated in two parts, a front part (1a) and a rear part (1b). It will be pointed out however that the tank according to the invention could perfectly be arranged on a non-articulated chassis.

The front part (1a) of the frame receives a cabin (2) from which the user can control and steer the vehicle, and control the various accessories to perform the cleaning function of a specific area.

In front of the cabin (2), in the lower part of the frame (1) and close to the ground, are the cleaning means (3) which consist here of two brushes (3a and 3b) mounted on a structure ( 4) allowing their deployment and their withdrawal.

The rear part (1b) of the chassis receives the tank (5) and the suction means of waste taken from the ground which cooperate with the tank.

As shown in figure 2 , the tank (5) is positioned on a frame (7) consisting of two symmetrical L-shaped side pieces (17, 17 '), each arranged at the rear end of the frame (1b). Each of the side pieces (17, 17 ') has a horizontal arm attached to the frame and a vertical arm perpendicular to the frame. Since the side pieces (17) and (17 ') are substantially symmetrical, only one of them is shown in the figures and identified under the number 17.

L'extrémité supérieure arrière de la cuve (5) est articulée autour d'un axe de rotation (13) reliant les extrémités respectives des bras verticaux des pièces latérales (17, 17').The upper rear end of the tank (5) is articulated around an axis of rotation (13) connecting the respective ends of the vertical arms of the side pieces (17, 17 ').

The suction means comprise a turbine (6) of vertical axis which is mounted on the horizontal arm of the side pieces (17, 17 '). The front end of the turbine is framed on both sides by elements (27) of substantially triangular shape. The triangular elements (27) are mounted on the respective ends of the horizontal arms of the side pieces (17, 17 ') of the support (7).

The bottom outer wall of the tank (5) comprises a reinforcement (37) consisting of a horizontal plate partially covering the rear end of the front end of the turbine (6) and arranged in correspondence of the end portion of the piece (27), so as to protect said bottom when the tank is in the lowered position.

The tank (5) is thus positioned above the turbine (6), without there being any integral connection between said tank and said turbine, and without risk of damage to said turbine since the plate reinforcement (37) protecting the bottom of the tank (5) rests on the lower end of the piece (27) which is slightly higher than the upper surface of the turbine.

The suction means also comprise a suction duct (8) cooperating with the turbine (6), the lower end of said duct being associated with a nozzle (not shown) in order to allow the collection of the waste brought back by the brushes ( 3a, 3b) towards the central axis of the vehicle and the upper end opening towards the inside of the tank (5).

The duct (8) is characterized in that it comprises a plurality of tubular portions forming a U. The tank (5) is engulfed on the lower branch (8c) formed by the portion of tube disposed under the bottom (5a) of the tank (5). The two lateral branches (8a and 8b) formed by the outer tube portion or portions respectively extend on each side of the tank (5) to join the upper part.

As a result, the duct (8) follows a path outside the tank (5), going up along its side walls (5c and 5d), and is therefore not positioned partly inside. of the tank as in vehicles of known type.

According to a preferred embodiment, the conduit (8) is made in one piece, so that it is not necessary to use connecting means to ensure the connection between, on the one hand, the different sections of tube that compose it, and secondly with the nozzle and the tank (5), the waste following a single path without risk of internal clogging.

The figure 4 illustrates more particularly the interior arrangement of the tank (5) and the means associated with the suction duct (8) for filtering the particles and separating them from the exhaust air to the outside.

We show here a schematic section of the tank (5) along its transverse axis. As detailed above, the turbine (6) is disposed under the bottom wall (5a) of the tank (5) which is flat. On either side of the tank (5) are the lateral branches (8a and 8b) of the suction duct (8), which each communicate with the inside of the tank.

The deflector (20) consists of a truncated cone-shaped piece, which is positioned against the upper wall of the tank (5), equidistant from the side walls (5c and 5d), and in correspondence of the delimited area by the respective upper parts of the lateral branches (8a and 8b) of the suction duct (8). More specifically, the deflector (20) comprises a flat base (20a) which is fixed, for example by means of rivets, against the upper wall (5b) of the tank (5). The width of the planar base (20a) is substantially equal to a quarter of the width of the tank (5). The length of the plane base (20a) is substantially equal to the diameter of the conduit (8) in correspondence of which it is positioned.

The two ends of the flat base (20a) facing the side walls (5c and 5d) of the tank (5) are each extended by a rigid plate (20b, 20c), defining a lateral edge in the plane perpendicular to that of said base (20a). The length of the rigid plates (20b and 20c) may vary, but preferably will be substantially equal to the length of the planar base (20a).

On each side of the deflector (20), there is a grid (21), each connected at one end to the flat base (20a) of the deflector, and at the other end to the suction duct (8). Advantageously, the grids (21a, 21b) may be coated with a release material, or receive a release-resistant surface treatment.

The grids (21a and 21b) have an accordion shape, which increases the suction surface and prevent the adherence of light objects in the air sucked. The combination of the baffle (20) and the lateral grids (21a, 21b) accordion makes it possible to create inside the tank (5) a swirling air flow which facilitates the separation between the dust and the waste which is brought by gravity to be deposited on the bottom of the tank. This significantly reduces the release of dust and solid bodies to the outside.

These methods have many advantages that distinguish the present invention solutions known from the prior art.

The external positioning of the suction duct makes it possible to use a tank having a perfectly flat bottom.

In the devices known from the prior art, this was not possible since it was at least necessary to provide an excrescence in the area of penetration of the suction duct inside the tank, and also in because of the presence of the radiators, the turbine being secured to the rest of the tank. This constraint is removed by the separation of the turbine, so that the bottom of the tank (5) can be perfectly flat, which provides many improvements.

Egalement, l'absence d'excroissances ou aspérités sur le fond de la cuve permet de prévenir tous risques d'accumulation irrégulière des déchets qui sont prélevés et acheminés vers la cuve de collecte au travers du conduitAlso, the absence of excrescences or asperities on the bottom of the tank makes it possible to prevent any risk of irregular accumulation of the waste which is collected and conveyed to the collecting tank through the conduit.

Moreover, the flow of air and the flows that are generated through the turbine are much more regular since no element protruding from the bottom of the tank disturbs the flow flow nor cause any deviation or inversion. Finally, manufacturing costs are significantly reduced.

The tank according to the invention has another improvement due to the separation of the suction turbine.

When the tank is actuated to drain the waste that has been collected, only the container portion will move to tilt backward and empty, turbine and conduit not moving.

The turbine remains in place on the chassis of the vehicle and the external suction pipe simply follows the movement of the tank, since it is not necessary to separate it.

This makes it possible, among other things, to automate the opening of the lid (9) of the collection vessel by means of simple means, which will preferably consist of cables or the like.

As is apparent from the figure (3 ), the tank (5) can tilt under the action of a jack (10) connecting the frame (7) to the rear of the tank, to control either the raising of the tank to a vertical drain position, or his return to his position of horizontal use.

Des moyens de traction non rigides (11) sont disposés sur au moins un des côtés de la cuve (5) et sont reliés par une de leur extrémité aux bras supérieurs des éléments latéraux (17, 17') du cadre (7), sous l'axe (13), et par l'autre extrémité à un bras de fixation (12) s'étendant à partir du couvercle (9).Non-rigid traction means (11) are arranged on at least one of the sides of the tank (5) and are connected by one of their ends to the upper arms of the lateral elements (17, 17 ') of the frame (7), under the axis (13), and at the other end to an attachment arm (12) extending from the cover (9).

The lid (9) will then be pushed upwards under the effect of the traction exerted by the traction means (11), and will be held in the open position as the bowl (5) tilts towards the rear, but without risk of unexpected closure.

This ensures quick and easy emptying of the collection tank, without having to perform complex handling or especially any removal of the tank or part of the tank.

A l'inverse, lorsque la cuve redescend pour reprendre sa position d'origine sur la partie arrière du châssis du véhicule, la tension exercée sur les moyens de traction (11) latéraux se relâche ce qui provoque automatiquement la fermeture progressive du couvercle (9).Conversely, when the tank descends to resume its original position on the rear portion of the vehicle frame, the tension exerted on the lateral traction means (11) is released which automatically causes the progressive closure of the cover (9). ).

This method of emptying the tank according to the invention is achieved by means of particularly uncomplicated elements and therefore inexpensive and in any case much easier to use than the hydraulic devices that usually equip tanks of known type.

According to an advantageous embodiment, the traction means (11) may consist of cables.

It should be noted that the use of cables to provide this automatic opening and closing function makes it possible to maintain a certain flexibility and therefore a margin of maneuver, if for any reason the movement of the tank is upset during operations. of rocker, which would not be the case if rigid rods were used to perform opening or closing operations.

The proposed modality also allows to ensure a total opening to 90 ° of the lid, which allows to drain in the best possible conditions.

Of course and as previously reported, it is not limited to this embodiment. In particular, the tank and its functional elements can be perfectly used on other types of vehicles or devices than an urban sweeper as described above. Similarly, the means for fixing the tank to the frame may vary, for example, we can consider using a fast loading device, without departing from the scope defined by the claims
