Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a chassis component for a motor vehicle and a method for producing a chassis component.
Leichtmetall bzw. Light metal or light metal alloys, especially aluminum, are becoming increasingly important as a lightweight construction material in automotive engineering, especially with regard to lightweight chassis components. Due to the lower modulus of elasticity compared to steel, the necessary component rigidities require special envelope-like structures in order to realize the lightweight potentials of the light metal materials. For highly stressed chassis components such as swivel bearings, wishbones and wishbones, which require yield strengths of about 350 MPa with a high elongation at break of at least 10%, light metal hollow castings are no longer or hardly applicable because they only yield strengths of about 200 MPa and elongation at break of reach about 5%.
Currently, it is customary to produce such highly stressed suspension components in the drop forging method from preformed forging blanks based on extruded profiles. The state of the art in this context also includes the so-called Cobapressverfahren. This is a hybrid process in which a cast billet is reforged once. Due to the sudden application of force during die forging, the cast structure is densified. Customary porosities, shrinkage envelopes and other microstructural defects are triturated and welded in the customary material flow, so that the yield strength can be increased to about 280 MPa and the elongation at break to about 10%.
Also the so-called counter-pressure casting is used in the production of the chassis components. In the counter-pressure method, an overpressure is generated during the solidification phase of the light metal casting in the mold (mold). This also allows customary porosities, shrinkage envelopes and other microstructural defects to be considerably reduced, thereby increasing the yield strength to about 260 MPa and the elongation at break to about 10%.
The known methods are proven. With regard to the required component properties of suspension components, however, these can only be realized massively with solid sections using the known methods. The sometimes very limited requirements for highest strengths therefore determine the entire component, although the components have areas in which the requirements in terms of strength are lower, but higher stiffnesses are required. These partially higher stiffnesses can be achieved in the prior art only by increasing the solid cross-sections, which causes a basically unnecessary high weight and more material use.
The invention is therefore based on the prior art based on the object, heavy duty suspension components with yield strengths between about 280 MPa and 300 MPa at elongations at about 10% in otherwise To reduce the same requirements on local strengths and stiffness in weight, reduce the use of materials and thereby make more economical and to show a method for producing a highly stressed lightweight construction chassis component.
Die Lösung des gegenständlichen Teils der Aufgabe besteht in einem Fahrwerksbauteil gemäß Anspruch 1.The solution of the objective part of the task consists in a chassis component according to
The chassis component according to the invention has a base body made of light metal casting. In this body is embedded by casting a mineral core body. The main body is processed by forging together with the embedded mineral core body and shaped to the chassis component.
Since stiffness in the third power from the distance to the neutral center line of the chassis component are determined, this particular the outer cross-sectional areas of the suspension components are important, while the inner make only minor contributions to the rigidity. This realization makes the invention its own. In order to reduce weight while maintaining the same stiffness, it is therefore appropriate to design components not with full cross-sections, but internally at least partially with a light core material but with an outer layer that determines the stiffness.
Hierbei kommen insbesondere Aluminium bzw. Aluminiumlegierungen oder Magnesium oder Magnesiumlegierungen zur Anwendung. The body forming the outer shell of the chassis component consists of light metal casting. In this case, in particular aluminum or aluminum alloys or magnesium or magnesium alloys are used.
As the core body, a mineral material is used, which is more heat resistant and lighter than the material of the outer body made of light metal casting. The heat or temperature resistance is such that the core body can be embedded in molten hot light metal casting. Aluminum or aluminum alloys have a specific gravity of about 2.7 g / cm 3 and a melting point of about 660 ° C. Magnesium or magnesium alloys have a specific gravity of about 1.7 g / cm 3 and a melting point of about 650 ° C. Preferably, therefore, a material is used as the core body with a fire resistance to temperatures of 800 ° C and higher, in particular a melting point between 1300 ° C and 1400 ° C. In this context, particular thought is given to materials based on expanding clay minerals. One such material is vermiculite.
The core body is arranged in particular in such component regions of the chassis component, which should have a lower strength with the same or higher stiffness than another component region.
Preferably, the core body consists of a silicate, in particular an aluminum-iron-magnesium silicate is used.
The procedural part of the object is achieved by a method according to claim 8.
According to the invention are used as Schmiederohlinge component-dependent shaped castings with a core body of lightweight, heat-resistant and thermally resistant mineral materials used. The core bodies must withstand the subsequent drop forging processes, heat treatments, mechanical processing and the stresses in the chassis component and remain as a permanent core in the chassis component.
To produce the core body, a rock-like vermiculite starting material is initially provided according to the invention. The starting material is ground to a certain particle size. Subsequently, the ground Vermiculitepartikeln are treated in a special thermal expansion process such that crystal-bound water is released. Due to the release of the crystal-bound water, the vermiculite particles undergo an increase in volume. The vermiculite particles thus treated become in a further temperature-pressure controlled process process with the addition of high temperature resistant mineral binder to the desired shape of the core body pressed. Depending on the shape to be produced, a core body produced according to the invention is approximately three to five times lighter than a component known from the prior art, for example made of aluminum foam.
To prevent porosity by degassing the air pockets contained in the hybrid cores and to protect against transport and handling damage optionally takes place a special surface preparation of the core body with heat-resistant mineral materials.
The core bodies are stably positioned in a mold and then encapsulated with light metal casting and enclosed here. The positioning of the core body or the core body is carried out in adaptation to the later loads of the finished vehicle component. The core bodies are provided where primarily higher stiffnesses and not highest strengths are required. In coordination with the component properties and their contour, the positioning of the core body already takes place in the blank. The forging technology, for example, by swaging is specifically designed so that when forging defined densifications of the light metal material and the core body done, with the required mechanical properties of the chassis component can be achieved or adjusted. The temperatures are defined by the forging process. In practice, forging temperatures between 400 ° C and 600 ° C are assumed. The forging technology processing of the blank can be carried out following the casting production of the blank using the heat from the casting process. In principle, however, a cooled blank for the forging process can be heated to forging temperature.
Such areas of the chassis component, in which the highest strengths are required, are carried out as usual with full cross section. The material receives the highest strength during forging in these component areas by appropriate material flow and material compaction. Depending on the requirements, it is possible to introduce specifically different properties in suspension components, depending on the positioning and design of the core body, the areas with full cross-section of the chassis component and the setting of the forging deformation rate and the flow behavior of the forging blank during forging. Depending on the setting of the mechanical properties or the density of the core body before and after forging, an additional inner support effect and increase in stiffness can also be effected in the region of the core body in the chassis component.
The forging process according to the invention is designed in such a way that only a small molding pressure is necessary in the region of the core body enclosed in the forging blank in order to produce the hybrid component produced by forging technology. As a result, there is only a small flow of material and only a small material deformation in the forging technology processed hybrid component. The hybrid component thus has in its finished form locally differentiated required mechanical properties, without having simultaneously compressed the core body by the forging process so that its density is increased. As a result, a particularly lightweight forged hybrid component is manufactured with vermiculite body included with the inventive method.
The invention provides highly loadable suspension components with yield strengths of 280 MPa and more at break strains of about 10%, which are reduced in weight over comparable conventional suspension components. Despite equal rigidity, the weight of the chassis components can be reduced with the method according to the invention over the prior art. This is not only a major factor in reducing manufacturing costs, but also an important contribution to reducing chassis masses, especially unsprung masses, which have a high impact on fuel economy and ride comfort.
