Abstract

Water jet working system, e.g., for working of a concrete surface which can be a bridge roadway, has its pumping system at a distance and the working unit has an emergency stop initiator hooked up to stop are not only the function of the working unit but also the function of the pumping unit via a wireless data transmission system so that the working system becomes pressureless.

Description

Water jet working system
Technical field of the invention
The invention pertains to a water jet working system comprising a working unit and a pump unit which are interconnected by means of a line for high-pressure water, wherein the working unit comprises a control system with an emergency stop initiator which cuts off the working unit when it is manually turned on.
Background of the invention
Water jet working systems of the kind described, e.g., in US 6,877,930 B2 have a wheel- borne working unit which is supplied with high-pressure water from a pump that is operated by an internal combustion engine. The power is high and the pumping system is usually mounted in a mobile unit. The working unit is moved forward in steps and it gets further away from the pumping system and the pumping system can get to be several hundred meters away from the working unit before the mobile unit with the pumping system is moved. The operator normally controls the working unit from a control panel on the unit and has one or more emergency stops available.
Purpose of the invention
One object of the invention is to reduce the risk of personal injury for water jet working systems of the kind described above.
Description of the invention
One usually has several emergency stop initiators on the working unit in a circuit so that each one of them fully stops the working system when any one of them is switched on. With a wireless data transmission system, such as Bluetooth, the emergency stop circuit of the working unit is hooked up to stop not only the function of the working unit, such that all its moving parts are stopped, but also the function of the pumping unit, such that the working system becomes pressureless.
Further safety is achieved if the components of the data transmission system have two-way communication and also the pump unit has an emergency stop initiator which, when initiated, stops not only the pump unit, but also the working unit via the wireless two-way communication.
The two components of the wireless data transmission are pair coded so that they cannot be disturbed by transmissions from other equipment. In this way, one gets a safe function which cannot be bypassed. If, instead, one uses a signal cable which is easily damaged at the job site, this leads to general irritation and there is a high risk that the operator bypasses the emergency stop function between working unit and pump unit.
The data transmission system also enables other information transfer between the units. For example, the operator at the working unit can watch the fuel supply and speed of the engine driving the pump.
The water jet working system can be of the kind specified in US 6,877,930 B2 and be used for removal of the surface of a bridge roadway needing a new top layer. The working unit does not need to have a vehicle, but instead for example it can consist of a frame, such that a surface is worked within the frame and the frame is then moved. Such a frame can be used, e.g., on a bridge column or other vertical surface.

Claims

Claims
1. Water jet working system comprising a working unit and a pump unit which are interconnected by means of a line for high-pressure water, wherein the working unit comprises a control system with an emergency stop initiator which cuts off the working unit when it is manually turned, characterised in that the working unit's emergency stop initiator is hooked up to stop not only the function of the working unit but also the function of the pumping unit via a wireless data transmission system so that the working system becomes pressureless.
2. Water jet working system according to patent claim 1, characterised in that the pump unit also has an emergency stop initiator which is hooked up to stop both the pumping unit and the working unit via a wireless data transmission system.
