Abstract
A removable spiral book (B) comprises a cover (10), a spiral binding element (20), a plurality of inner pages (30) and at least one locking rod (40). The spiral binding element (20) is placed between a front cover portion (11) and a back cover portion (12) after binding the inner pages (30) together and is passed through a plurality of through holes (15) of a spine portion (13). The locking rod (40) is inserted into a clearance (50) formed between the spiral binding element (20) and the spine portion (13), and is fixed at the spine portion (13). The spiral binding element (20) is restricted by the locking rod (40), such that the cover (10) is assembled with the inner pages (30) stably. By pulling the locking rod (40) out of or inserting it into the clearance (50), the inner pages (30) can be removed from or assembled with the cover (10), while the cover (10) can still be re-used, so as to avoid wasting the cover (10), which is environmental friendly.
Description
- The present invention relates to a book, and more particularly to a removable spiral book which is environmental friendly since it has a detachable cover that can be re-used.
- Referring to
Fig. 1 , a conventional book A comprises acover 100, a spiralbinding element 200 and a plurality ofinner pages 300. In a center of thecover 100 is provided aspine portion 101 having a plurality of throughholes 102. The spiralbinding element 200 binds theinner pages 300 together via the throughholes 102 and positions theinner pages 300 in thecover 100. However, after theinner pages 300 have been used or broken, since thecover 100 and theinner pages 300 are undetachable, thecover 100 must be thrown away together with theinner pages 300 and cannot be re-used. - The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages.
- The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a removable spiral book comprising a cover, a spiral binding element and at least one locking rod. The cover comprises a front cover portion, a back cover portion and a spine portion. The spine portion is defined with a plurality of through holes. The spiral binding element binds a stack of inner pages together. One end of the locking rod is provided with a bending portion. The removable spiral book can be assembled by first placing the inner pages and the spiral binding element between the front cover portion and the back cover portion, and making the spiral binding element pass through the through holes and protrude out of the spine portion, such that a clearance is formed between an outer edge of the spiral binding element protruded out of the spine portion and the spine portion. Then, inserting the locking rod into the clearance, making the bending portion hook to one end of the spine portion. Thereby, the locking rod restricts the spiral binding element and prevents it from disengaging from the through holes.
- By pulling the locking rod out of or inserting it into the clearance, the inner pages can be removed from or assembled with the cover, while the cover can still be re-used, so as to avoid wasting the cover, so the present invention is environmental friendly.
- At an inner side of the above-mentioned bending portion facing the locking rod is provided a protruding pole which is engaged in corresponding one of the through holes.
- The above-mentioned spine portion is provided with a plurality of folding lines, and the locking rod is provided with a ridge which is acute-angle in cross section for pushing against the folding lines.
- At least one end of the above-mentioned spine portion is defined with a recess for retaining the bending portion.
- The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, which show, for purpose of illustrations only, the preferred embodiments in accordance with the present invention.

Fig. 6 is an exploded view of the removable spiral book in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention. - Referring to
Figs. 2 and3 , a removable spiral book B in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention comprises acover 10, a spiralbinding element 20, a stack ofinner pages 30 and at least onelocking rod 40. Thecover 10 comprises afront cover portion 11, aback cover portion 12 and aspine portion 13. Thespine portion 13 is defined with a plurality of throughholes 15. The spiralbinding element 20 binds theinner pages 30 together. One end of thelocking rod 40 is provided with abending portion 42, and at an inner side of thebending portion 42 facing thelocking rod 40 is provided aprotruding pole 43. - Referring to
Figs. 4 and 5 , theinner pages 30 are assembled with thecover 10 by first placing the spiralbinding element 20 which binds theinner pages 30 together between thefront cover portion 11 and theback cover portion 12, and making the spiralbinding element 20 pass through the throughholes 15 and protrude out of thespine portion 13, such that aclearance 50 is formed between anouter edge 21 of the spiralbinding element 20 protruded out of thespine portion 13 and thespine portion 13. Then, inserting thelocking rod 40 into theclearance 50, making thebending portion 42 hook to one end of thespine portion 13 in such a manner that thelocking rod 40 is fixed at thespine portion 13 and the protrudingpole 43 is engaged in corresponding the throughhole 15a. Thereby, thelocking rod 40 restricts the spiralbinding element 20 and prevents it from disengaging from the throughholes 15. - After the
inner pages 30 in the notebook B have been used or broken, the user can pull thelocking rod 40 out of theclearance 50, such that the protrudingpole 43 will be disengaged from the corresponding throughhole 15. Thereby, the spiralbinding element 20 is not restricted by thelocking rod 40 any more and will be disengaged from the throughholes 15. At this moment, the user can remove the usedinner pages 30 along with the spiralbinding element 20 from thecover 10, while thecover 10 can still be re-used with new spiral bindingelement 20 andinner pages 30 again. - Referring to
Figs. 3 and4 again, at an inner side of thelocking rod 40 facing thebending portion 42 is provided aridge 41 which is acute-angle in cross section, and thespine portion 13 is provided with a plurality offolding lines 14. When thelocking rod 40 is inserted into theclearance 50 between thespine portion 13 and theouter edge 21 of the spiralbinding element 20, theridge 41 will push against thefolding lines 14 and then push thespine portion 13 inward, so as to make thefront cover portion 11 parallel to theback cover portion 12. - Referring to
Figs. 2 and5 again, at least one end of thespine portion 13 is defined with arecess 16 for retaining thebending portion 42, such that thelocking rod 40 can be flushed with the end of thespine portion 13 after it is fixed to thespine portion 13. - Referring to
Fig. 6 , the removable spiral book B in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention comprises twolocking rods 40 fixed at both ends of thespine portion 13, so as to cooperate with the larger sized notebook B. The structure and feature of thelocking rods 40 fixed at thespine portion 13 of this embodiment are the same as that of the first embodiment and will not be described in detail. - To summarize, the present invention is characterized in that: the
cover 10 is assembled with the spiralbinding element 20 which binds theinner pages 30 together by at least onelocking rod 40. After theinner pages 30 have been used or broken and need to be replaced, the user can remove the usedinner pages 30 form thecover 10 by pulling thelocking rod 40 out of theclearance 50, and then assemble the newinner pages 30 with thecover 10 by inserting thelocking rod 40 into theclearance 50, while thecover 10 can still be re-used with newinner pages 30 and spiralbinding element 20 again, so as to avoid wasting thecover 10, so the present invention is environmental friendly. - While we have shown and described various embodiments in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
