Description

  • The present invention relates to dishwashers comprising a sensor wherein the data collected is recorded in the memory.
  • In a dishwasher, a washing program comprised of various steps such as pre-washing, main washing, rinsing is implemented. In these machines, particularly in the machines that select the washing program to be used, turbidity sensors, conductivity sensors etc. are used for detecting the data relating to the amount of dirt in the dishes placed in the machine, whether the dishes are properly cleaned after washing or the amount of detergent mixed in the wash water. However, these sensors used are affected by factors such as intake of water into the washing chamber and the rotational speed of the spray arms and as a result the measurement cannot be performed accurately.
  • Various methods are used in the technique for implementing the measurement made by the sensor to be performed with a high precision.
  • One of these methods is explained in state of the art Chinese Patent Publication No CN1682641 . In this method, after water is taken into the machine before starting washing, an initial turbidity measurement is made and the pre-wash is performed according to this measurement. Afterwards, a large number of measurements are made during pre-wash and other program steps whereby the average of these is calculated and the duration of program steps and the other parameters are determined by taking into consideration the initial turbidity measurement and the said average value.
  • In another implementation known in the technique, the Japanese Patent Publication No JP2006081629 , the explanation is given for a dishwasher wherein a certain time period passes for the water to settle down after the water intake process into the dishwasher ends, and afterwards measurement is made.
  • However, in these implementations known in the technique, in case the user opens the door of the dishwasher while the sensor takes measurements and then closes again, the data measured by the sensor before the door is opened is evaluated together with the data measured after the door is closed. In fact, the readings taken in measurements right after the door is closed are quite different from the ones taken previously since the dirt settles down when the door is opened. Misleading results are obtained when these data that do not reflect the real situation are included in the calculation of the average.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher comprising a sensor that detects with a high precision even if the user opens the door during washing.
  • The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is explicated in the attached claims.
  • In the dishwasher of the present invention, a sensor is used for measuring the variables such water turbidity, conductivity etc. of water for determining the washing program steps and the parameters such as water temperature, duration etc. relating to these steps. When changes in the wash water is desired to be detected by the sensor, a series of measurements are taken at certain intervals, for example at the start, middle and end of washing and these measurements are recorded in the memory until the necessary number of measurements are taken for determining the status of the wash water. Afterwards, the average of the data in the memory is taken to obtain the information about the status of the wash water.
  • In the dishwasher of the present invention, if the door is opened while the sensor is taking measurements, the memory is reset by deleting the data recorded during the last series of measurements and measurements are started afresh after the door is closed. Thus, accuracy of measurement is increased by preventing the erroneous detection of the wash water due to the discontinuity of data.
  • In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the sensor waits for a period of time after the door is closed and afterwards starts to take measurements. Accordingly, defective detection is prevented by enabling remixing of the dirt.
  • A dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

  • The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:

  • The dishwasher (1) provides cleaning of the dishes in accordance with a washing program including at least some of the various steps such as pre-washing, main washing, rinsing, drying and regeneration.
  • The dishwasher (1) comprises
    • a washing chamber (2) wherein the dishes to be washed are emplaced,
    • a door (3) for accessing the washing chamber (2),
    • at least one sensor (4) that measures a variable relating to the wash water in order to detect the status of the wash water,
    • at least one memory (5) wherein the data received from the sensor (4) are recorded (Figure 1).
  • In the dishwasher (1) of the present invention, when the status of the wash water is desired to be detected, the sensor (4) makes a series of measurements at certain intervals. The readings taken as a result of the measurements are recorded in the memory (5) until the necessary number of measurements is taken for assessing the status of the wash water. When the sufficient number of measurements is taken, the average of the data in the memory (5) is taken in order to assess the status of the wash water.
  • If the user opens the door (3) while the sensor (4) takes measurements, the data recorded in the memory (5) during the series of measurements performed before the door (3) is opened are deleted and the sensor (5) starts measuring afresh after the door (3) is closed.
  • In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the sensor (4) waits for a period of time (tw) after the door (3) is closed and afterwards starts to take measurements.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the sensor (4) detects the turbidity of the wash water. There is a great difference between the turbidity measurements taken by the sensor (4) before the door (3) is opened from the ones measured right after the door (3) is closed since the dirt settles down when the door (3) is opened due to stopping of the washing. By means of the present invention, these data that can be misleading are prevented from being used in detecting the amount of dirt and the status of the dirt is detected with a high accuracy. Accordingly, dirt status of the dishes emplaced in the dishwasher (1) is detected with a high accuracy and the selection of the washing program is made correctly in accordance with the said data.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the sensor (4) detects the conductivity status of the wash water. Thus, the amount of detergent mixed in the wash water is detected correctly and the decisions relating to washing are made in accordance with this information.
  • In the dishwasher (1) of the present invention, the information that needs to be identified correctly relating to the amount of dirt and detergent in order to implement the washing process with the highest performance level is prevented from being detected erroneously due to the discontinuance occurring when the door (3) is opened during washing, thereby increasing the washing effectiveness.

Claims (4)

  1. A dishwasher (1) that comprises a washing chamber (2) wherein the dishes to be washed are emplaced, a door (3) for accessing the washing chamber (2), at least one sensor (4) that takes a series of measurements of a variable relating to the status of the wash water at certain intervals, at least one memory (5) wherein the data received from the sensor (4) is recorded and characterized in that the data , recorded in the memory (5) during the series of measurements performed before the door (3) is opened , is deleted if the door (3) is opened while the sensor (4) takes measurements, and in that the sensor (4) starts measuring afresh after the door (3) is closed.
  2. A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by the sensor (4) that waits for a period of time (tw) after the door (3) is closed and starts to take measurements afterwards.
  3. A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 1 or 2, characterized by the sensor (4) that detects the turbidity status of the wash water.
  4. A dishwasher (1) as in Claim 1 or 2, characterized by the sensor (4) that detects the conductivity status of the wash water.
