In einer nicht-flüchtigen Datenspeichereinrichtung der Steuereinrichtung der Geschirrspülmaschine wird die zugeleitete Gesamtwassermenge gespeichert und für einen externen Zugriff bereitgestellt, so dass sie, beispielsweise von einem Service-Techniker, ausgelesen werden kann. Treten Fehler bzw. Schäden beim Betrieb der Geschirrspülmaschi- ne auf, so ist es für eine Fehleranalyse wichtig zu wissen, wie die Geschirrspülmaschine von dem Anwender tatsächlich benutzt wurde. Die der Geschirrspülmaschine zugeleitete Gesamtwassermenge bzw. die sich hieraus ergebende tatsächliche Beanspruchung der Geschirrspülmaschine, kann dem Service-Techniker bei der Fehlerbehebung wertvolle Hilfe leisten. Darüber hinaus kann die Information über die zugeleitete Gesamtwasser- menge bis zum Auftreten eines Fehlers bzw. Schadens auch für eine Verbesserung möglicher Problemstellen des Geräts und demzufolge in Hinblick auf eine technische Verbesserung und Weiterentwicklung eingesetzt werden.
