Definitions
- the invention relates to a domestic appliance according to the preamble of claim 1.
- US 6,140,620 A and US 5,746,114 describe similar devices, but all follow the same basic idea.
- a home appliance is turned on by manual initiation of a timer mechanism and turned off after a preselected time interval.
- the device can be integrated in the household appliance or designed as a separate device.
- the US 5,746,114 additionally describes a function that shuts off a heating element when a cookware is removed from a cooking area associated with the heating element.
- a heater in particular a stove, known, which automatically activates a time switching device when switching on a heating element of the heater, which interrupts a power supply of the heater after the expiry of a predetermined time interval of the timer.
- the time interval until the heater is switched off can be changed by the user during operation of the heater.
- the control unit of the domestic appliance with a time recording means for detecting an uninterrupted service life of individual power units or the entire household appliance fitted.
- the time detection means measures the time in which the power units or heating zones are operated without a change of the operating parameters with a constant power or heating power or at a constant heating power level.
- the control unit determines, depending on stored parameters, a switch-off time interval, which may be dependent on the set heating power, and performs a safety shutdown when the detected operating time reaches the switch-off time interval.
- the switch-off time interval can not be influenced by an operator in known domestic appliances having such a safety switch-off function. This may result in the security shutdown being too fast for users who often use particularly time-consuming prescriptions, and thus disturbing. On the other hand, users with a particularly high need for security or users who, for example, due to an age-related lack of concentration particularly often forget to switch off the domestic appliance, perceive the switch-off time interval as too long.
- the object of the invention is, in particular, to provide a generic household appliance with a safety shutdown function satisfactory for each type of user.
- the invention relates to a home appliance having a control unit for operating a plurality of power elements and a user interface, wherein the control unit comprises a time detection means and a memory unit for storing at least one parameter for a switch-off time interval and wherein the control unit is configured to automatically performs a safety shutdown when an uninterrupted heater operating time reaches the turn-off time interval, the control unit including user-operable setting means for changing the turn-off time interval.
- the domestic appliance can be designed, for example, as a hob or as an oven, wherein the power elements can then be designed as heating elements.
- the advantages of the invention come particularly to bear, since in such household appliances, the risk of overheating is particularly great.
- the user may use the adjustment means to change the parameters of the safety shutdown function so that the safety shutdown function meets its needs, i. on the one hand does not interfere with a cooking process by a too early shutdown and on the other hand shuts off early enough to prevent hazards such as smoldering.
- the adjustment means can therefore ensure a safety shutdown function satisfactory to each type of user.
- control unit is designed to determine a switch-off time interval as a function of a set heat output level. As a result, a safety shutdown function adapted to an expected degree of overheating can be realized.
- the customizable safety shutdown function may be advantageous. Since induction hobs naturally radiate comparatively small amounts of heat when the inductors are in operation without a cookware part being on the heating zone heated by the inductor, a switched-on heating zone can easily be overlooked. On the other hand, damage from overheating of the electronics can result from uncontrolled continuous operation. Thecoreabschaltfunktion is therefore profitable despite the comparatively low heat development on the heating zone in induction hobs.
- an empirically determined appropriate dependency of the off-time intervals on the set heating power level can be easily implemented if the memory unit is configured to store a list, the list each assigning an off-time interval to a heating power level.
- the user can resort to default values when setting if the adjustment means is designed to increase and / or decrease at least one predetermined standard off-time interval. This can be compared to a completely free adjustability reduces the complexity of operation and the ease of use can be increased.
- the setting means is designed to double and / or halve at least one predetermined standard switch-off time interval, a flexibility that is satisfactory for virtually all users can be achieved with a small number of possible settings, without substantially increasing the complexity of operating the household appliance ,
- the switch-off time interval is in a monotonously falling functional relationship with a set heating power of a heating zone.
- function context is to be understood here in the sense of a mathematical function. This prevents early shutdown at low heat outputs. This is particularly desirable because time-consuming cooking operations are often performed at low heat outputs.
- control unit reset the time detection means for measuring the operating time of a heating zone to zero when an operator changes a heating power of the relevant heating zone via the operator interface.
- control unit recognizes that it can not be an uncontrolled or unwanted operation of the heating zone concerned, so that an interruption the cooking and / or cooking process performed by the operator can be avoided.
- a sensor arrangement for detecting cookware elements arranged on a cooking surface wherein the control unit can reset the time detecting means for measuring the operating time of a heating zone to zero when the control unit detects movement of a cookware element arranged on the respective heating zone via the sensor arrangement , As a result of the movement, the control unit recognizes an operator intervention, so that it can not be an uncontrolled or undesired operation of the relevant heating zone.
- FIG. 1 shows a cooking appliance designed as a household appliance with a control unit 10 for operating a plurality of heating elements designed as power elements 12 and a user interface 14, wherein the control unit 10 is shown here only schematically time recording means 16 and designed as a RAM or ROM memory unit 18 for storing at least a characteristic for a switch-off time interval T off .
- the heating elements 12 are designed as induction heating elements and the domestic appliance is an induction hob.
- the control unit 10 comprises a freely programmable processor is configured to automatically perform a safety shutdown when an uninterrupted operating time of the heating element reaches the turn-off time interval T off .
- the control unit 18 determines the switch-off time interval T off .
- the control unit 10 comprises an input and output interface (not illustrated here) for controlling the user interface 14 designed as a touchscreen.
- the user can call up a series of menu functions via the user interface 14.
- the displayed menu includes several entries concerning the basic settings of the domestic appliance such as the language, an available network performance and network protection, a parental control function and just the safety shutdown.
- the operator can select the entries by touching corresponding fields 20-26 on the touch screen and other menus appear allowing the operator to change the selected default setting.
- the in FIG. 3 displayed menu in which the operator can select between maximum security, high security and normal security by touching a corresponding field 20-24.
- the memory unit 18 comprises a memory location 28 for a floating-point variable p, which in operation may assume the values 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0.
- the value of the floating-point variable p is a parameter for a selected safety level For maximum security, the floating point variable p is set to 0.25, by choosing high security, the floating point variable p becomes 0.5, and by choosing the normal security, the floating point variable p is set to 1.0.
- the control unit 18 further has an interface for actuating three light-emitting diodes arranged below a glass-ceramic material of the cooking rocket, which are a means 46 for visualizing a selected safety level.
- Each of the light emitting diodes is associated with one of the possible values of the floating point variable p and a serigraphy on the cooking surface Visualizes the meaning of the light emitting diode, for example by printed fonts such as "Maximum”, "High” and "Normal".
- the control unit 18 in each case actuates only one light-emitting diode of the means 46 corresponding to the selected safety level.
- the control unit 10 is equipped by the variable floating-point variable p with an adjustment means 28 operable via the user interface 14 for varying the switch-off time interval T off .
- the control unit 10 is equipped with software which determines the switch-off time interval T off as a function of a set heating power level P.
- the memory unit 18 further comprises memory locations for storing a list, wherein the list in each case assigns a standard off-time interval T off, 0 to a heating power stage P. An ordinal number of the heating power level P can stand in a unique relationship to a line number of the list.
- the list has the following form: P T off, 0 (h) 0 0 1 10 2 10 3 5 4 5 5 5 6 5 7 4 8th 4 9 4 10 3 11 3 12 3 13 2 14 2 15 1 16 1 17 1
- control unit may determine the standard off-time interval T off, 0 by means of a simple mathematical function, which may be, for example, a linear function.
- the parameters of the function may then be stored in the memory unit 18.
- the setting means 28 is for reducing the data stored in the list, predetermined default switch-off time interval T off, designed 0, namely for halving or quartering of the dependent set by the set heating power stage P Standard-off time interval T off, 0th
- FIG. 4 shows a flow chart for determining the off-time interval T off for a particular heating zone.
- the control unit 10 determines the heating power level P set at the heating zone.
- the control unit 10 reads the standard off time interval T off, 0 associated with the heating power level P from the list.
- the control unit 10 reads the floating-point variable p from the memory unit 18 and multiplies the standard off-time interval T off, 0 associated with the heating power level P by the floating-point variable p to obtain the off-time interval T off .
- T off p * T off . 0
- the control unit 10 uses the time detecting means 16 to measure the continuous operating time T of a heating zone. In doing so, it resets the time detection means 16 to zero when an operator changes a heating power level P of the relevant heating zone via the user interface 14.
- the domestic appliance comprises a sensor arrangement for detecting cookware elements arranged on a cooking surface. The sensor arrangement consists in particular of the heating elements 12, which are used for inductive detection of the cookware.
- the control unit 10 also resets the time detecting means 16 to zero for measuring the operating time T of a heating zone when the control unit 10 detects, via the sensor arrangement, a movement of a cooking utensil arranged on the heating zone concerned.
- control unit 10 By detecting the operator intervention on the operator interface or by the movement of the cookware element, the control unit 10 recognizes that it is not an uncontrolled, accidental operation of the domestic appliance but a controlled operation involving the operator, in which a safety shutdown would be disturbing.
- the operating time T of each heating zone is permanently monitored.
- FIG. 5 A corresponding method is in FIG. 5 shown.
- the operating time T is compared with the switch-off time interval T off . If the operating time T is shorter than the switch-off time interval T off , it is checked in a step 40 whether an operator intervention, ie a change in the heating power level P or a displacement of the cooking utensil element, has occurred. If an operator intervention has been detected, a counter representing the operating time T is set to zero in a step 42. If the Operating time T is longer than the switch-off time interval T off , the counter representing the operating time T is incremented in an incrementing step 38. otherwise, the controller jumps to a process 44 where the safety shutdown is performed.
- the operating time T and the switch-off time interval T off are measured in units of time that follow the monitoring period of the iteration FIG. 5 correspond.
- the choice of the maximum security level thus causes the safety shutdown already after a quarter of the standard off-time interval T off, 0 , while the safety shutdown in the choice of high security level already after one half of the standard off-time interval T off, 0 takes place.
- the idea of the invention is applicable both to domestic appliances in the form of induction hobs and to household appliances with radiant heaters. If the control unit 10 of the domestic appliance can store multiple user settings for multiple users, the safety shutdown can be configured user-specific.
- the invention is also applicable in connection with induction hobs with freely definable heating zones, so-called matrix hobs.
