Definitions

  • the invention relates to a paper cup with a cup sleeve and a liquid-tight connected to the cup sleeve bottom and a method for producing a paper cup.
  • Known paper cups are made from paper segments that are wound into a truncated cone shape over a folding mandrel.
  • a mouth roll at the top of the frusto-conical cup sleeve and by inserting a bottom in the cup sleeve creates a paper cup for receiving liquids.
  • the paper cup can be additionally provided with an insulating outer shell.
  • the paper material of the cup sleeve When molding the mouth roll and also when connecting the bottom with the cup sleeve to a peripheral bottom frame, the paper material of the cup sleeve must be rolled or turned over by at least 180 °. For this purpose, the paper material must be compressed in the region of the bottom frame and partially stretched in the area of the mouth roll and partially compressed.
  • the upsetting leads to an excess of paper material and thus to a more or less wavy surface. On an inside of the floor frame this can be accepted. At the mouth roll no wavy surface can be accepted.
  • numerous measures have to be taken in the area of the mouth roll in order to be able to produce a smooth-surfaced mouth roll.
  • the compression or elongation of the paper material during rolling or folding is greater, the greater the cone angle of the cup sleeve.
  • the upper edge of the cup sleeve is indeed stretched during rolling in a cylindrical sleeve, as soon as it is rolled through 360 ° and thus substantially in its initial position, but is no significant material expansion or material compression more available.
  • GB 2 055 038 A is a paper cup with a cup sleeve and a substantially liquid-tight connected to the cup sleeve bottom, said cup sleeve and bottom are connected by means of a peripheral frame.
  • the wall of the cup sleeve is preferably arranged at an angle between 3 ° and 9 ° to the central longitudinal axis of the cup.
  • a paper cup is to be created, which is suitable not only for receiving liquids but also for receiving and eating food, such as soups, as well as an improved method for producing a paper cup.
  • a paper cup with the features of claim 1 is provided for this purpose. It is a paper cup provided with a cup sleeve and a liquid-tight connected to the cup sleeve bottom, wherein the cup sleeve between the bottom and an opposite end of the bottom at least partially at an angle greater than or equal to 10 °, in particular between 10 ° and 15 ° or between 10 ° and 25 °, is arranged to a central longitudinal axis of the paper cup.
  • the cup sleeve is liquid-tightly connected by means of a peripheral frame with the ground, wherein the frame is arranged parallel to a central longitudinal axis or from the bottom to the end of the frame towards widening.
  • a mouth roll is formed on an upper, opposite the bottom edge of the cup sleeve.
  • a cup with a mouth roll can be easily attached to the mouth and is pleasant to use.
  • the upper edge of the cup sleeve is substantially stabilized by a mouth roll. This is particularly important for paper cups with a large diameter.
  • the cup sleeve between the bottom and an end opposite the bottom is at least partially arched outwardly from the interior of the cup seen.
  • the cup receives a very pleasing, cup-like shape.
  • the cup can be created by the outwardly curved cup sleeve, for example, a very suitable for eating with a spoon cup shape.
  • the cup sleeve between the bottom and an end opposite the bottom is at least partially curved inwardly from the interior of the cup seen.
  • a wall of the cup sleeve is S-shaped in cross-section, so that the cup sleeve occupies a smaller angle to the central longitudinal axis in the region of the bottom and in the region of its bottom end than in a central portion.
  • the cup sleeve is liquid-tightly connected to the ground by means of a peripheral frame, wherein the frame is formed by turning over a lower edge region of the cup sleeve around a bottom edge or a lower edge region of the bottom around the lower edge of the cup sleeve, wherein the lower edge region of Cup sleeve or the lower edge region of the bottom is provided with notches from the paper material.
  • the upper and lower edges of the cup sleeve can be deformed much easier and especially the tearing of the paper material or excessive wave formation can be avoided.
  • the notches extend from the edge of the bottom or from the edge of the cup sleeve to a maximum of half the height of the frame.
  • the shaping of the bottom frame can be significantly facilitated without their reliable liquid-tight training is compromised. Because up to half the height of the frame is the folded paper material over the entire surface at the edge of the floor or the Edge of the cup sleeve, so that a circumferential, continuous sealing can be achieved.
  • the cup sleeve is provided with a circumferential, projecting into the interior of the cup shoulder and a lower edge of the frame is dimensioned so that an outer circumference of the lower edge of the frame is less than or equal to a larger diameter at the shoulder and greater than one smaller diameter at the heel is.
  • the frame and the heel can be supported on the heel when stacking several cups, the frame.
  • Several cups can thereby be stacked without jamming the bottom of the top cup in the lower cup. Due to the large angle of the cup sleeve, which occupies this at least partially to the central longitudinal axis, then the cup sleeves of several stacked cups do not abut each other, so that no jamming is to be feared even in numerous stacked paper cups.
  • the cup is at least partially double-walled.
  • an insulating cup can be created in which even very hot food, such as noodle soup, can be easily absorbed and still can be held without risk to the hand of a user.
  • a method for producing a paper cup having the features of claim 7. There is provided a method of manufacturing a paper cup having a cup sleeve and a bottom, wherein the Cup sleeve having a mouth roll, which is integrally formed on a bottom of the opposite end of the cup sleeve, wherein the cup sleeve between the bottom and an opposite end of the bottom at least partially at an angle greater than or equal to 10 °, in particular between 10 ° and 15 °, to a central longitudinal axis of the paper cup is arranged.
  • the shaping of the mouth roll takes place in at least two rolling steps, wherein the cup sleeve is at least partially clamped differently during the rolling steps by means of holding devices.
  • the molding of a mouth roll is possible by the shaping of the mouth roll is divided into at least two rolling steps and in addition the cup sleeve during the different Rolling steps is clamped differently.
  • the aim is to avoid kinking the cup wall during the rolling steps, so that the cup sleeve is clamped as close as possible below the upper edge of the cup sleeve or the already partially completed mouth roll during the different rolling steps.
  • a curl is provided by a maximum of 180 ° at each rolling step. It can also be provided that in a first rolling step a curl of 180 ° and in subsequent rolling steps a curl is provided by about 90 °.
  • Such a division into four rolling steps and a first curl around about 180 ° and subsequent Einrollept by about 90 ° allows the process-safe molding a mouth roll even at very large angles between the central longitudinal axis and cup sleeve of more than 10 ° and even up to an angle of 15 °.
  • the steps of receiving the cup sleeve in a retaining ring, the retraction of a retaining stamp in the cup sleeve and the clamping of the cup sleeve between the retaining ring and retaining stamp and the placement of a rolling tool on the upper edge of the cup sleeve are provided.

Description

The invention relates to a paper cup with a cup sleeve and a liquid-tight connected to the cup sleeve bottom and a method for producing a paper cup.

Known paper cups are made from paper segments that are wound into a truncated cone shape over a folding mandrel. By forming a mouth roll at the top of the frusto-conical cup sleeve and by inserting a bottom in the cup sleeve creates a paper cup for receiving liquids. If hot drinks are to be included, the paper cup can be additionally provided with an insulating outer shell. When molding the mouth roll and also when connecting the bottom with the cup sleeve to a peripheral bottom frame, the paper material of the cup sleeve must be rolled or turned over by at least 180 °. For this purpose, the paper material must be compressed in the region of the bottom frame and partially stretched in the area of the mouth roll and partially compressed. The upsetting leads to an excess of paper material and thus to a more or less wavy surface. On an inside of the floor frame this can be accepted. At the mouth roll no wavy surface can be accepted. As a result, numerous measures have to be taken in the area of the mouth roll in order to be able to produce a smooth-surfaced mouth roll. The compression or elongation of the paper material during rolling or folding is greater, the greater the cone angle of the cup sleeve. Using the example of the mouth roll, the upper edge of the cup sleeve is indeed stretched during rolling in a cylindrical sleeve, as soon as it is rolled through 360 ° and thus substantially in its initial position, but is no significant material expansion or material compression more available. This is not the case with frusto-conical sleeves, because the upper edge of the cup sleeve is placed on the attachment of the mouth roll in a position in which there is a smaller diameter than the original diameter of the upper edge. Even after a roll of the upper edge by 360 °, the paper material of the upper edge must thus be able to record a permanent material compression wrinkle-free. The larger the cone angle of the cup sleeve, the larger is this difference in diameter and the greater is the tendency to wrinkle when attaching the mouth roll and when attaching the bottom frame. For this reason, conventional paper cups are manufactured with a cone angle of the cup sleeve of a maximum of 9 °.

From the British disclosure GB 2 055 038 A is a paper cup with a cup sleeve and a substantially liquid-tight connected to the cup sleeve bottom, said cup sleeve and bottom are connected by means of a peripheral frame. The wall of the cup sleeve is preferably arranged at an angle between 3 ° and 9 ° to the central longitudinal axis of the cup.

With the invention, a paper cup is to be created, which is suitable not only for receiving liquids but also for receiving and eating food, such as soups, as well as an improved method for producing a paper cup.

According to the invention, a paper cup with the features of claim 1 is provided for this purpose.

By providing a larger cone angle of the cup sleeve creates a cup-like paper cup, which is particularly well suited for picking up soups or other foods. It is essential here compared to conventional cups flatter extending side wall of the paper cup according to the invention, which greatly facilitates the consumption of food from the paper cup. Not least can be provided by the larger opening angle of the paper cup, a comparatively large cup opening without the capacity of the paper cup would be excessive. This also greatly facilitates the consumption of food directly from the paper cup according to the invention, for example because the cup opening is large enough to move a spoon within the cup volume.

In a further development of the invention, the cup sleeve is liquid-tightly connected by means of a peripheral frame with the ground, wherein the frame is arranged parallel to a central longitudinal axis or from the bottom to the end of the frame towards widening.

With such a design of a floor frame, on the one hand, a pleasing, shell-like appearance of the paper cup according to the invention is achieved, since the cylindrical or counter-conical design of the frame acts optically as a kind of base. In addition, a footprint is increased compared to a strictly frusto-conical design of the paper cup.

In a further development of the invention, a mouth roll is formed on an upper, opposite the bottom edge of the cup sleeve.

A cup with a mouth roll can be easily attached to the mouth and is pleasant to use. In addition, the upper edge of the cup sleeve is substantially stabilized by a mouth roll. This is particularly important for paper cups with a large diameter.

In a further development of the invention, the cup sleeve between the bottom and an end opposite the bottom is at least partially arched outwardly from the interior of the cup seen.

In this way, the cup receives a very pleasing, cup-like shape. In addition, can be created by the outwardly curved cup sleeve, for example, a very suitable for eating with a spoon cup shape.

In a further development of the invention, the cup sleeve between the bottom and an end opposite the bottom is at least partially curved inwardly from the interior of the cup seen.

By such a concave design of the cup sleeve creates a human hand despite large opening very well to be taken and festzuhaltende shape. In addition, the volume of such a paper cup with concave cup sleeve can be kept low despite large opening.

According to the invention, a wall of the cup sleeve is S-shaped in cross-section, so that the cup sleeve occupies a smaller angle to the central longitudinal axis in the region of the bottom and in the region of its bottom end than in a central portion.

By such an S-like design of the cup sleeve molding a mouth roll and a bottom frame is greatly facilitated. Because despite the angle greater than or equal to 10 ° in a central portion of the cup sleeve is in the region of the bottom and in the region of the upper edge, for example, an angle of less than 10 ° before, in any case, a smaller angle than in the middle, so that a Mouth roll and a frame easily and without fear of excessive wave formation or without tearing of the paper material, can be molded. Nevertheless, the cup-like impression of the paper cup is maintained.

In a further development of the invention, the cup sleeve is liquid-tightly connected to the ground by means of a peripheral frame, wherein the frame is formed by turning over a lower edge region of the cup sleeve around a bottom edge or a lower edge region of the bottom around the lower edge of the cup sleeve, wherein the lower edge region of Cup sleeve or the lower edge region of the bottom is provided with notches from the paper material.

By notches from the paper material, the upper and lower edges of the cup sleeve can be deformed much easier and especially the tearing of the paper material or excessive wave formation can be avoided.

In a further development of the invention, the notches extend from the edge of the bottom or from the edge of the cup sleeve to a maximum of half the height of the frame.

In this way, the shaping of the bottom frame can be significantly facilitated without their reliable liquid-tight training is compromised. Because up to half the height of the frame is the folded paper material over the entire surface at the edge of the floor or the Edge of the cup sleeve, so that a circumferential, continuous sealing can be achieved.

In a further development of the invention, the cup sleeve is provided with a circumferential, projecting into the interior of the cup shoulder and a lower edge of the frame is dimensioned so that an outer circumference of the lower edge of the frame is less than or equal to a larger diameter at the shoulder and greater than one smaller diameter at the heel is.

By such a design of the frame and the heel can be supported on the heel when stacking several cups, the frame. Several cups can thereby be stacked without jamming the bottom of the top cup in the lower cup. Due to the large angle of the cup sleeve, which occupies this at least partially to the central longitudinal axis, then the cup sleeves of several stacked cups do not abut each other, so that no jamming is to be feared even in numerous stacked paper cups.

In a further development of the invention, the cup is at least partially double-walled.

In this way, an insulating cup can be created in which even very hot food, such as noodle soup, can be easily absorbed and still can be held without risk to the hand of a user.

The problem underlying the invention is also solved by a method for producing a paper cup having the features of claim 7.

In a further development of the invention, the shaping of the mouth roll takes place in at least two rolling steps, wherein the cup sleeve is at least partially clamped differently during the rolling steps by means of holding devices.

Surprisingly, it has been shown that despite the large angle greater than or equal to 10 °, the cup sleeve at least partially occupies the central longitudinal axis, the molding of a mouth roll is possible by the shaping of the mouth roll is divided into at least two rolling steps and in addition the cup sleeve during the different Rolling steps is clamped differently. The aim is to avoid kinking the cup wall during the rolling steps, so that the cup sleeve is clamped as close as possible below the upper edge of the cup sleeve or the already partially completed mouth roll during the different rolling steps. By this multiple clamping the mouth roll can then be molded reliably without having to fear buckling or buckling of the cup sleeve.

In development of the invention, four rolling steps are provided when forming the mouth roll. Advantageously, a curl is provided by a maximum of 180 ° at each rolling step. It can also be provided that in a first rolling step a curl of 180 ° and in subsequent rolling steps a curl is provided by about 90 °. Such a division into four rolling steps and a first curl around about 180 ° and subsequent Einrollungen by about 90 ° allows the process-safe molding a mouth roll even at very large angles between the central longitudinal axis and cup sleeve of more than 10 ° and even up to an angle of 15 °.

In a further development of the invention, the steps of receiving the cup sleeve in a retaining ring, the retraction of a retaining stamp in the cup sleeve and the clamping of the cup sleeve between the retaining ring and retaining stamp and the placement of a rolling tool on the upper edge of the cup sleeve are provided.

At least partially different rolling tools and at least partially different holding tools can be used. It is advantageous to use one and the same retaining ring, but different retaining stamp and rolling tools. Optionally, the formed mouth roll may still be pressed flat to provide a sealing surface for attaching a membrane occluding the cup.

There is provided an apparatus for making a paper cup having a cup sleeve and a bottom, the cup sleeve having a mouth roll molded to a bottom opposite end of the cup sleeve, means for locating the cup sleeve between the bottom and a bottom opposite End at least in sections at an angle greater than or equal to 10 °, in particular between 10 ° and 15 °, are provided to a central longitudinal axis of the paper cup.

In the apparatus means for supplying at least one rolling tool for at least partially shaping the mouth roll on the upper edge of the cup sleeve are provided, wherein a feed direction is approximately parallel to a machined by the rolling tool portion of the upper edge region of the cup sleeve.

By a feed direction of the rolling tool is approximately parallel to the material of the cup sleeve, a buckling or buckling of the cup sleeve can be avoided during the molding of the mouth roll. Because compared to a thrust load approximately parallel to the material of the cup sleeve, the paper material is very stable, so that even large pressure forces can be applied to the sleeve during molding of the mouth roll.

In the apparatus, the rolling tool is seen over the upper circumference of the cup sleeve divided into several segments, which are arranged in each case parallel to a section to be machined by the respective segment of the upper edge region of the cup sleeve.

By means of such a division of the rolling tool into a plurality of segments, as a result, a variable diameter of the rolling tool can be realized during delivery. This is useful especially at large angles of the cup sleeve to the central longitudinal axis of more than 10 ° to ensure a feed direction of the rolling tool approximately parallel to the material of the cup sleeve.

The presentation of the Fig. 1 shows a side view of a first paper cup 10. This paper cup 10 has a frusto-conical cup sleeve 12, on whose in Fig. 1 upper end of a mouth roll 14 is formed. At her in Fig. 1 bottom end of the paper cup 10 is provided with a non-visible bottom, which is connected in the region of a likewise not visible bottom frame with the cup sleeve 12. The cup sleeve 12 assumes with a central longitudinal axis 16 of the cup an angle α of about 11 °. This angle α is in the representation of Fig. 1 drawn between the dash-dotted line indicated central longitudinal axis 16 and a dashed line 18, which has the same inclination as in Fig. 1 has drawn on the right beaker wall.

Ein Kegelwinkel β der Becherhülse 22 beträgt etwa 15°.The presentation of the Fig. 2 shows a further paper cup 20, which differs from the in Fig. 1 shown paper cup only by the inclination of the wall of a cup sleeve 22 to the central longitudinal axis 16 differs. Also in the paper cup 20, the cup sleeve 22 has a truncated cone shape and has formed a mouth roll at its upper edge. A cone angle β of the cup sleeve 22 is about 15 °.

A cone angle of the cup sleeves 12, 22 is greater than or equal to 10 °, such as 11 ° in the paper cup 10 or 15 ° in the paper cup 20, and provides a cup-like appearance in the paper cups 10, 20 and also that a comparatively large . Surrounded by the respective mouth roll 14 opening of the paper cups 12, 20 can be provided at still low volume. In addition, the comparatively inclined inner wall of the cup sleeve contributes to the fact that food can be consumed easily from the paper cups 10, 20 with a spoon. The large opening and the large angle α, β between the cup wall and the central longitudinal axis 16 facilitates the picking up of food from the paper cup 12, 20 with a spoon. The paper cups 10, 20 are therefore particularly suitable for food, for example, liquid food, such as noodle soup or the like.

The presentation of the Fig. 3 shows a further paper cup 24. As can be seen, the paper cup 24 has a cup sleeve 26, which is convex and is accordingly curved outward from its interior. By such a convex design creates a very pleasing, shell-like shape.

The presentation of the Fig. 4 shows a further paper cup 28, the cup sleeve 30 is designed convex. The cup sleeve 30 is thus executed curved towards its interior. Such a concave cup sleeve 30 can be particularly easily and comfortably hold with one hand.

The presentation of the Fig. 5 shows a paper cup 32 according to the invention, the cup sleeve 34 has a wall with a cross-section S-like shape. As can be seen, an angle which the cup sleeve encloses just below a mouth roll 36 with the central longitudinal axis 16 is smaller than an angle which the cup sleeve encloses in a central region 38 between a bottom frame 40 and the mouth roll 36 with the central longitudinal axis 16. In any case, the angle which encloses the cup sleeve 34 in the central region 38 with the central longitudinal axis 16 is greater than or equal to 10 ° and in the illustrated embodiment of the paper cup 32, this angle is about 15 °. In a region of the cup sleeve 34, which lies below the region 38 and thus directly above and below a bottom, the cup sleeve 34 again assumes a smaller angle to the central longitudinal axis 16 than in the region 38. This results in a longitudinal section, wherein the cutting plane then contains the central longitudinal axis 16, or when viewing the silhouette of the paper cup 32 an S-shaped boundary of the cup sleeve 34. When viewing the in Fig. 5 To the right of the central axis 16 lying wall, the cup sleeve 34 extends from the mouth roll 36 initially with mathematical negative curvature, ie curved in a clockwise direction or generally curved from the central longitudinal axis 16 outwardly curved or convex. Halfway up the paper cup 32 and approximately in the middle of the region 38, the curvature of the cup sleeve 34 changes sign, in order then to be viewed when viewing in FIG Fig. 5 right wall to the lowermost edge of the paper cup 32 in a mathematically positive sense, ie counterclockwise, curved or generally from the central longitudinal axis 16 from looking inwardly curved or concave.

In addition to a visually very pleasing shell shape of the paper cup 32 is achieved by this S-shape of the cup sleeve 34, that in the areas in which the mouth roll 36 and the bottom frame 40 are formed, an angle which the cup sleeve 34 to the central longitudinal axis 16 assumes smaller As a result, the shaping of the mouth roll 36 and the molding of the bottom frame 40 is greatly facilitated, since with increasing angle of the cup sleeve 34 to the central longitudinal axis 16, the paper material of the cup sleeve 34 must be stretched or compressed more and thus the risk of tearing or the wave formation increases. By the S-shape of the cup sleeve 34 of the paper cup 32 of the optical impression of a cup-shaped cup is achieved with flat cup wall, and Nevertheless, both the mouth roll 36 and the bottom frame 40 can be formed without fear of increased wave formation or even cracking of the paper material.

The presentation of the Fig. 6 shows a further paper cup 42 in section. The paper cup 42 has just above a bottom 44 an inwardly projecting, circumferential shoulder 46. In addition, the paper cup 42 is provided with a bottom frame 48, which is configured conically opposite to the rest of the paper cup 42. In fact, a cup sleeve 50 up to the peripheral shoulder 46 has a downwardly tapering towards the bottom 44 in the form of a truncated cone. From the peripheral shoulder 46 to the level of the bottom 44, the cup sleeve 50 is cylindrical in order to derive stacking forces reliably. From the bottom 44, the cup sleeve 50 then has a downwardly widening cone shape. Thus, the bottom frame 48 is replaced by a bottom 44 of the lower edge of the frame 48, which is also the bottom edge of the cup 42, widening shape. An outer circumference of the lower edge of the bottom frame 48 is slightly smaller than the larger diameter of the circumferential shoulder 46. The outer diameter of the bottom frame 48 is at the same time smaller than the smaller diameter of the circumferential shoulder 46, so that it can be reliably stacked with the bottom frame 48.

As in FIGS. 8 and 9 As shown, several paper cups 42 can be stacked in each other, wherein in each case the bottom frame 48 of the upper cup rests on the peripheral shoulder 46 of the lower cup. It is in the 8 and 9 to recognize that the cup walls of the stacked cups do not touch. It can thereby many cups 42 are stacked without jamming of the stacked cups would be feared. Even numerous stacked cups 42 can be easily separated again.

Based on the presentation of the Fig. 7 the structure of the bottom frame 48 can be seen more accurately. The bottom 44 has an approximately 90 ° downwardly bent, circumferential bottom edge 52. The cup sleeve 50 is turned over with its lower edge by 180 °, thereby forming a pocket in which the peripheral bottom edge 52 is almost completely absorbed. The cup sleeve 50 thus abuts both the outside and the inside of the peripheral bottom edge 52. The bottom edge 52 and the adjoining areas of the cup sleeve 50 are thermally welded or glued together to ensure a liquid-tight connection of the bottom 44 to the cup sleeve 50.

The presentation of the Fig. 10 shows a further paper cup 54 in section. In the paper cup 54, a bottom frame 56 extends at the same angle to a central longitudinal axis of the paper cup 54 as the cup sleeve 58. The paper cup 54 shows in section the Fig. 10 thereby a strict trapezoidal shape except for a mouth roll 60.

In the presentation of the Fig. 11 the structure of the bottom frame 56 is shown enlarged. The cup sleeve 58 is turned over at its lower edge by 180 ° and in the resulting pocket, a bottom edge of a bottom 62 is inserted. The paper material layers lying on top of one another in the region of the bottom frame 56, all of which are plastic-coated on at least one side, are connected to one another in a fluid-tight manner by so-called thermal sealing or welding.

The presentation of the Fig. 12 shows a total of five stacked paper cups 54 and the representation of the Fig. 13 shows an enlarged, sectional representation of these stacked cups in the bottom area. It can be seen that the respective lowest cup edge is seated on a respective bottom 62 of the cup located below. Due to the large angle of inclination between the respective cup sleeve 58 and a central longitudinal axis, the cup sleeves of the stacked cups do not touch. As a result, numerous cups 54 stacked one inside the other can not jam together and can easily be separated again.

The presentation of the Fig. 14 shows in section another paper cup 64 and Fig. 15 shows in sections an enlarged view of the paper cup 64 in the bottom area. Based on FIGS. 14 and 15 It can be seen that a cup sleeve 66 is provided with a plurality of so-called notches 70 in its area 68, which has been folded inward by 180 °. These notches 70 are each configured triangular, wherein a tip of the triangle protrudes into the material. Such notches 70 facilitate the upsetting of the material of the cup sleeve 66 when turning to form the bottom frame. Specifically, the notches 70 can prevent even at large angles between the central longitudinal axis and the cup sleeve 66 that excessive undulation or even wrinkling of the paper material occurs in the region of a bottom frame.

However, it can be seen that the triangular notches 70 only extend to half the height of the bottom frame. Below the notches 70 is thus a sufficiently large material portion for the circumferential, complete seal between cup sleeve 66 and bottom 72 is available to a reliable liquid-tight To ensure connection of the bottom 72 to the cup sleeve 66.

The representations of the Fig. 16 to 20 A device for molding a mouth roll has a retaining ring 76 which has a frusto-conical inner surface whose angle of inclination is exactly matched to the angle of inclination of the cup sleeve of the paper cup 74. The retaining ring 76 has at its upper edge a circumferential, approximately semicircular in cross-section groove 78. In order to keep the paper cup 74, which is already provided with the bottom 72, securely and immovably in the retaining ring 76 during molding of the mouth roll, a retaining stamp 80 is provided, which is inserted from above into the cup 74. The holding stamp 80 has a disk-like truncated cone shape, which is likewise adapted to the angle of inclination of the paper cup 74. Centered to the disk-shaped truncated cone of the holding stamp 80 is provided with a guide rod. On this guide rod, a disk-shaped first rolling tool 82 is guided so that it can be delivered parallel to a central longitudinal axis of the paper cup 74 on its upper edge 84. The first rolling tool 82 is provided on its, the paper cup 74 facing side with a circumferential rolling groove 86 with an approximately semicircular cross-section. Seen from the paper cup 74, a tapered wall 87 runs toward the rolling groove 86, wherein an angle of inclination of the conical wall 87 corresponds to the angle of inclination of the cup sleeve of the paper cup 74.

A first rolling step of the upper edge 84 is in FIG Fig. 17 shown. The first rolling tool 82 has been delivered so far on the upper edge 84 of the cup 74, that the upper edge 84 has been bent in the rolling groove 86 of the first rolling tool 82 by approximately 180 ° and now facing down, toward the cup bottom 72. An evasion of the upper cup rim 84 or of this at this subsequent region of the cup sleeve is prevented by the cone wall 87 on the first rolling tool 82, which tapers on the rolling groove 86. In addition, a deflection of the cup sleeve by means of the holding punch 80 and the retaining ring 76 is prevented.

The presentation of the Fig. 18 shows the paper cup 74 after carrying out a second rolling step with a second rolling tool 88. The paper cup 74 is kept unchanged during this second rolling step by means of the retaining ring 76 and by means of the holding punch 80. The second rolling tool 88 differs from the first rolling tool 82 by a deeper cut groove 90. With the rolling groove 90 of the already deflected by about 180 ° upper edge 84 of the paper cup 74 can be thereby deflected by about another 90 °. Also, the second rolling tool 88 is delivered parallel to the central longitudinal axis of the paper cup 84 on the already partially rolled upper edge 84.

The presentation of the Fig. 19 shows a third rolling step for shaping the mouth roll. The paper cup 74 is held by means of the retaining ring 87, but a second retaining post 92 is used with slightly smaller outer diameter than the first retaining post 80 to press the paper cup 74 from the inside against the retaining ring 76. Due to the smaller diameter of the frusto-conical disk of the second holding punch 92, the second holding punch 92 sits below an upper edge of the holding ring 76, so that a third rolling tool 94 can be delivered further in the direction of the holding ring 76. It is possible to use the second rolling tool 88 again for the third rolling step instead of a third rolling tool 94. But it must be used another holding stamp to deliver the rolling tool 94 further in the direction of the retaining ring 76 can.

By means of in Fig. 19 shown third rolling step, the upper edge 84 of the paper cup 84 is deflected by a further 90 °. After completion of the third rolling step, the upper cup rim 84 is thus deflected by approximately 360 °.

The presentation of the Fig. 20 shows the fourth and final rolling step in which a mouth roll 96 is completed. For this purpose, a fourth rolling tool 98 is used, which is characterized by the rolling tools 82, 88 and 94 by a modified design of the rolling groove. Even in the fourth rolling step, however, the paper cup 74 is still held by means of the retaining ring 76 and the second retaining stamp 92. The fourth rolling tool 98 is now so far delivered to the upper edge 84 of the paper cup 74 until the mouth roll comes to rest with its lower portion in the circumferential groove 78 of the retaining ring 76. The mouth roll 96 is thus formed from above through the rolling groove of the fourth rolling tool 98 and from below through the groove 78 of the retaining ring 76.

After completing the fourth scrolling step, the mouth roll 96 on the paper cup 74 is completed.

The presentation of the Fig. 21 schematically shows the upper edge 84 of the paper cup 74 during the four individual rolling steps. As has been explained, the upper edge 84 is deflected after the first rolling step in a position 100 by approximately 180 °. After the second rolling step, shown in a position 102, the upper edge 84 is deflected by about another 90 °. After the third rolling step, shown at the position 104, the upper edge 84 is deflected by a further 90 ° and thus seen from its initial position, a total of approximately 360 ° deflected. After the final, fourth rolling step, by making another 90 ° curl, shown at position 106, the mouth roll 96 is then completed and shows a total curl at an angle of about 450 °.

By dividing the mouth roll into several steps, for example four steps, connected with a clamping of the upper portion of the cup 74 as close to the upper edge, it is possible to form a mouth roll despite the large angle of inclination of the cup wall. A bulging or buckling of the upper cup portion is thereby prevented by the variable and matched to the respective rolling tool clamping of the cup 74 and the division into individual rolling steps, at least partially using different rolling tools.

The presentation of the Fig. 22 shows another paper cup 106. In contrast to the paper cup 64 of Fig. 14 At the paper cup 106, a mouth roll 108 is pressed flat after completion of the fourth rolling step. This is also in the enlarged, sectional representation of the Fig. 23 clearly visible. In addition to the flat pressing of the mouth roll 108, the individual layers of the mouth roll 108 are thermally sealed together. After flat pressing and sealing, a circumferential surface 110 is available at the top of the cup, to which, for example, a membrane for closing the cup opening can be sealed or glued.

The presentation of the Fig. 24 schematically shows a device 112 for molding a mouth roll to a paper cup 114, which is also shown only in sections in its upper edge region. The paper cup 114 is held by means of an only indicated holding punch 116 and also only indicated retaining ring 118 just below its upper edge. A rolling tool 120 has a plurality of segments 122, 124, which are each provided at their, the upper edge of the paper cup 114 side facing a semicircular in cross section groove. The segments 122, 124 are each provided for, only a portion of the upper edge of the paper cup 114 to roll. By dividing the rolling tool 120 into segments, however, it is possible to deliver the individual segments 122, 124 in each case parallel to the inclination of the wall of the paper cup 114. Using the example of the segment 124, this is illustrated by means of the arrow 126, which symbolizes a delivery direction of the segment 124 to the paper cup 114. Parallel to its cup wall, the paper material of the paper cup 114 has a comparatively high rigidity, so that the mouth roll can be formed on the paper cup 114 without the risk of kinking or buckling of the upper edge of the paper cup 114 being feared. The shaping of the mouth roll is in this way in one
em single step or in fewer steps than possible with a delivery of the rolling tool parallel to the central longitudinal axis of the paper cup 114th

The rolling tool 120 thus has by dividing into individual segments 122, 124 a variable diameter of the rolling groove. After complete delivery of the segments 122, 124 of the rolling tool 129, the segments 122, 124 with their side walls abut each other and form a closed full circle of the rolling groove. It is essential that a delivery of the individual segments 122, 124 takes place approximately parallel to the angle of inclination of the upper cup edge of the paper cup 114, since then the upper edge of the paper cup 114 can protrude further beyond the holding punch 116 and the retaining ring 118 than in the case of non-parallel delivery of the rolling tool to the upper edge would be permissible. For in a non-parallel delivery of the rolling tool, the inclination of the upper portion of the paper cup 114, to bend or borrow when applying the rolling tool, would be much higher than in the Fig. 24 illustrated parallel delivery of the rolling tool 120 according to the arrow 126th
