Description

The invention relates to a cover for a arranged in a front side of a housing first part of a separable connection, in particular an electrical connector, according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

In order to be able to connect and / or connect lines as required, separable connections are used. Such lines can carry liquids, gases and pressure or negative pressure. In particular, such lines may be electrical lines for the transmission of energy and / or data. The separable connections may be designed in many known designs, e.g. as screw connections and in particular as plug connections. The separable connections consist of a first and a second part, which can be connected together and separated from each other. For connectors, these parts are commonly referred to as a socket and plug.

In general, a part of the separable connection, in electrical connectors usually the socket, arranged in the front of a housing, while the other part of the connection, in electrical connectors usually the connector is arranged on a line to be connected. The housing may be a device housing or the housing of a junction box, which can be used in a building wall, a cable duct or the like, but can also be designed as an exposed junction box. When such connections are only used as needed to connect a conduit while they are separated for extended periods of time, covers are used to prevent the part of the connection located in the housing from entering dirt or moisture protect. Such covers are formed, for example, as a separate lid, which is placed on the disposed in the housing part of the compound and is often connected via a cord or chain with this first part or the housing to make this cover captive. Next it is known (eg DE 103 50 433 A1 ), to form the cover with a lid which is pivotally attached to the front of the housing and unfolded when unplugged connection to the front of the housing to cover the part of the compound. To insert the connection, the cover is pivoted into an open position, in which it releases the part of the connection arranged in the housing for connecting the second part.

Both solutions have in common that when connected the lid is exposed unprotected, so that dirt and moisture can be deposited in the lid. If the cover is to be closed, therefore, it must first be cleaned or the dirt and moisture can get from the cover in the connecting part, for example in the arranged in the housing socket. When pivotally mounted on the housing lids these are usually biased by a spring force into its closed position. The cover must therefore be kept swung to connect and disconnect the connection against this spring force, whereby the connection and disconnection is hindered. In addition, the lid is always plugged in connection under its spring force on the connected part of the compound or on the connected line, whereby the connection is charged.

From the US 2008/0264664 A1 a cover according to the preamble of claim 1 is known. In this cover, the lid can be pivoted between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the cover covers the first part of the connector. In the open position, the lid is swung up from the front of the housing and can be fully inserted into a receptacle of the housing, the insertion level is perpendicular to the front of the housing. As a result, the cover in the open position does not hinder the insertion of the connection and is protected against deposition of dirt and moisture. The lid is guided with pivot pins in the housing so that it can be pivoted about these pivot pins in the closed position when it is pulled out of the receptacle. Since the pivot axis formed by the pivot pin is guided displaceably in the receptacle of the housing, the lid can not be biased by spring force into the closed position. It must therefore be provided additional measures to lock the lid in the closed position in the housing. The opening of the lid is made difficult by this locking.

The invention has for its object to provide a cover for a separable connection, which does not hinder the connection and disconnection of the connection, in the unused state against dirt, moisture and the like. Protected is reliably held in the closed position and easily from the closed position can be opened.

This object is achieved by a cover with the features of claim 1.

Advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in the subclaims.

The essential idea of the invention is to form the cover in two parts from a cover and a guide part. The guide part is arranged in a receptacle of the housing and slidably mounted in this receptacle in a rack level. To release the housing arranged in the first part of the connection, the lid of the front of the housing is pivoted about its pivotal connection with the guide member until the lid is aligned with the guide member in the rack level. The lid can then be inserted together with the guide member into the receptacle. The lid is thus completely enclosed in the receptacle and protected against contamination. In addition, the lid no longer protrudes from the front of the housing in the region of the connector, so that the lid does not interfere with the connection and disconnection of the connection and also does not abut the connected, mated connection. If the connection is disconnected, the cover and the guide part are pulled forward in the receptacle until the cover is completely pulled out of the receptacle and the pivot connection between cover and guide part is located in front of the front of the housing. The lid can now be folded into the closed position, in which it covers the first part of the connector in the housing. The guide member remains as attachment of the lid in the receptacle of the housing. In this position, the cover acts essentially like the known cover with a pivotable lid. The decisive difference is that according to the invention, the lid is not pivotally mounted on the housing, but on the guide part which can be inserted into the housing.

Since the lid and the guide member are moved together, it is possible to bias the lid by a spring force to the closed position to attach to the guide member. By this spring force, the lid is held reliably without additional locking measures in the closed position. The lid can be easily opened against the spring force. If the cover is inserted together with the guide part in the receptacle, the receptacle supports the lid against pivoting by the spring force.

The in the FIGS. 1 and 2 Cover shown as an embodiment has a cover 10 and a guide member 12. The lid 10 and the guide member 12 are preferably plastic injection molded parts. The lid 10 has substantially the shape of a closed elongated flat, possibly slightly curved plate. The guide member 12 also has substantially the shape of a flat, in particular slightly wedge-shaped plate, however, has openings for material saving. The lid 10 and the guide member 12 have approximately the same width. The guide member 12 engages with a transverse edge between tabs 14 which are integrally formed at the end of the side edges of the lid 10. Each on both sides of the guide member 12 integrally formed hinge pin 16 pass through the tabs 14, so that the cover 10 and the guide member 12 are pivotally mounted about these hinge pins 16 as a pivot axis against each other. Coaxially to this pivot axis, a leg spring 18 is used, one leg of which acts on the cover 10 and the other leg on the guide part 12. The leg spring 18 is biased so that its spring force holds the lid 10 and the guide member 12 in an angled position in which the lid 10 and the guide member 12 form an angle smaller than 90 °. This position is in FIG. 2a shown. In this position, the swivel angle is limited by stops. The cover 10 and the guide member 12 are pivotable against the spring force of the leg spring 18 into an in Figure 2c shown position in which the cover 10 and the guide member 12 are aligned with each other, that is, the cover 10 and the guide member 12 lie in a common plane. Preferably, the pivoting movement is limited in this position by stops.

The in the FIGS. 1 and 2 The cover shown serves to cover a first part of a separable connection, which is arranged in the front side of a housing.

In the Figures 3 and 4 For example, the use of the cover is shown by way of example for an electrical plug-in connection which is arranged in a housing serving as a wall outlet. The connector is used z. B. for connecting data lines to a data network.

In the embodiment of Figures 3 and 4 the housing is formed as a flat junction box 20, which is provided with a in FIG. 4 shown trough-shaped lower part 22 can be mounted on a wall. On the narrow front side of the junction box 20 each have an electrical plug connection are provided on the right and left. For this purpose, the front wall of the lower part 22 each have a circular opening 26 on the right and left, in each of which the socket 28 of a plug connection can be inserted. Between the two openings 26, the front wall of the lower part 22 recesses 30, in which cable entries 32 are used. On the opposite rear wall side of the base 22 breakthroughs 34 are prepared to introduce necessary from this back cable in the junction box 20 can. The apertures 34 may be formed as thinned wall portions which may be broken out when needed, or may be closed by blind plugs when not needed. In FIG. 3 the closed junction box 20 with inserted sockets 28 and inserted cable entries 32 is shown. In FIG. 4 the lower part 22 of the empty junction box 20 without the sockets 28 and the cable entries 32 is shown.

To cover the sockets 28, the junction box 20 each of the sockets 28 associated with covers in the FIGS. 1 and 2 shown form. It is in the Figures 3 and 4 shown on the left side in each case the cover in the open position, in which the socket 28 is released for the connection of a plug, and on the right side in the closed position, in which the socket 28 is covered.

The housing of the junction box 20 has in each case laterally next to the openings 26 in the side wall of the lower part 22 a receptacle 36. The receptacle 36 is as in FIG. 4 to see is formed as a housing pocket, which is formed in the side wall of the lower part 22. For this purpose, the side wall in the region of the receptacle 36 is double-walled and encloses the housing pocket between the double walls. The side walls of the lower part 22 with the receptacles 36 connect substantially at right angles to the front side of the lower part 22 and thus laterally in each case to the areas of the front side, in which the openings 26 are located.

The housing pockets serving as a receptacle 36 are closed on the bottom side by the bottom of the lower part 22 and on the longitudinal sides and the end edge by the side wall of the lower part 22. On the upper side, the receptacle 36 are closed by the patch upper part 24 of the junction box 20. Against the front side of the junction box 20, the housing pockets of the receptacles 36 are open with an entry slot. The height of this entry slot corresponds to the width of the lid 10 of the cover. The cover is inserted with its guide member 12 through the front entry slot into the receptacle 36. The guide member 12 has at its extending in the direction of insertion side edges each have a spring tongue 38 with an outwardly directed latching lug 40. The spring tongues 38 and the locking lugs 40 are formed so that the outer surfaces of the spring tongues 38 flush with the outside of the lid 10 and the locking lugs 40 protrude beyond this outer surface. When inserting the guide member 12 through the entry slot into the receptacle 36, the spring tongues 38 are resiliently pressed inwardly over an inlet slope of the locking lugs 40, so that the guide member 12 can penetrate into the entry slot of the receptacle 36. Once the detents 40 are inside the receptacle 36, the spring tongues 38 can spread outwards again. The guide member 12 is thus captive in the recording 36 received, since the locking lugs 40 prevent withdrawal of the guide member 12 through the entrance slot of the receptacle 36.

When the guide member 12 is inserted into the receptacle 36, the lid 10 in the in Figure 2c shown stretched, aligned with the guide member 12 position against the force of the leg spring 18 are pivoted. In this extended position, the guide member 12 and the flush-fitting subsequent cover 10 can be inserted together into the housing pocket of the receptacle 36, as in FIG. 4 shown on the left. The length of the receptacle 36 is dimensioned so that the guide member 12 of the lid 10 can be fully inserted into the receptacle 36.

If the cover 10 is pulled out of this position in the receptacle 36, then the guide member 12 is also preferred with the lid 10 in the receptacle 36 against the front side. As soon as in this extraction, the pivot axis formed by the hinge axis 16 is located in front of the front side of the junction box 20, the locking lugs 40 of the guide member 12 come to stop and prevent the guide member 12 can be pulled out of the receptacle 36. Since the pivot axis of the cover 10 and guide member 12 is now outside of the receptacle 36, the cover 10 can be pivoted relative to the held in the receptacle 36 guide member 12 by the force of the leg spring 18 and lies on the front of the junction box 20 and thus closes the respective opening 26 with the socket 28, as shown in the Figures 3 and 4 is shown on the right.

As in FIG. 1 can be seen most clearly, the cover 10 at its in the closed position of the front of the junction box 20 facing surface on a seal 42. As a result, the opening 26 and thus the socket 28 are sealed against the outside environment. The seal 42 is adapted in shape to the respective opening 26, annular in the illustrated embodiment.

Next, the cover 10 at its the pivot axis opposite narrow edge on a sealing lip 44. This sealing lips serves to sealingly close the entry slot of the receptacle 36 when the cover 10 is fully inserted into the receptacle 36 in its open position. By the sealing lip 44 of the inserted into the receptacle 36 cover 10 is sealed against the outside and protected against contamination and moisture.

Next, the cover 10 at its the pivot axis opposite narrow edge on a handle 46 which is disposed on the remote from the junction box 20 in the closed position. This handle 46 serves to lift the lid 10 from the closed position against the spring force of the leg spring 18 and to pivot in the open position. In addition, the handle 46 serves to detect the cover 10 in order to be able to pull the cover 10 out of the receptacle 36 again.

Finally, z. B. on the lower part 22 of the housing still a tab 48 or similar means may be provided to seal the lid 10 at its opposite end of the pivot axis in the closed position or complete, if opening of the lid and use of the connector by unauthorized persons should be prevented.

In the embodiment, the lid 10 and the guide member 12 are separate parts which are pivotally connected to each other by a hinge axis 16. It is readily apparent that the cover 10 and the guide member 12 may also be integrally formed and pivotally connected to each other by a film hinge.

Furthermore, it is readily apparent that the cover according to the invention can also be used in housings with only one connection or also in housings with more than two connections.
