An object of the present invention is therefore to provide an apparatus and a method for cutting or cutting textile and non-textile fabrics, which can be used on household sewing machines.
This object is achieved by a device and by a method according to the features of claims 1 and 12. Advantageous embodiments of the device and are circumscribed in the dependent claims.
The device according to the invention can be attached to any sewing machine, new or old, and put into use. It is therefore possible without intervention in the mechanics of the sewing machine, cutting work on sewing or embroidery manually or, if embroidery programs are stored, semi-automatic or fully automatic perform.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, if present, the embroidery frame drive, in which the fabric to be cut is clamped, can be used as an actuator for the angular adjustment of the cutting edge on the cutting needle.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the zigzag drive can be used as an actuator for the angular adjustment of the cutting blade of the cutting blade.
The inventive method can be applied to any sewing machines, which are designed in conjunction with an embroidery hoop for performing embroidery work, the hoop is traversed with the fabric clamped therein or the textile or non-textile fabric in a plane below the needle bar, and wherein the movements of the embroidery frame and the needle bar are controlled by a controller. The sheet may include, for example, one or more layers of fabric. Particularly in the case of thin fabrics, the fabric may also comprise a backed fleece. The method is also suitable for cutting films and the like. The fabric need not necessarily be clamped in a frame and can - as in sewing - eg manually guided and / or be moved by the feed dog of the sewing machine in the Nähgutebene below the needle bar.
For cutting the fabric, the cutting lines can be defined analogously to the contours of an embroidery image in the form of embroidery data in a common format and cut by means of a cutting needle which is attached to the needle bar instead of a sewing needle. For cutting the fabric, the cutting needle can be rotated or aligned in several predetermined directions by means of the rotating device according to the invention. The section line can be divided into sections according to their respective local tangential direction subdivided, with adjacent portions preferably overlap. Each of these sections is assigned the most appropriate one of the given edge orientations. Preferably, for each of these alignments all associated cutting operations can be summarized - analogous to the embroidery operations with a particular sewing thread color.
In particular, in the case of textile fabrics, a backing such as, for example, a fleece is usually additionally underlaid. The sheet is before cutting with the cutting needle preferably by selectable step or decorative stitches in a usually predeterminable or selectable small distance from the cutting line on one or both sides of this cutting line secured to the flexible pad. For cut-outs of contiguous parts of the fabric, the securing seam follows the contour to be cut outside the cutting line. Of course, a sewing needle is attached to the needle bar instead of the cutting needle for this process. Required changes of sewing or cutting needles can be signaled to the user preferably on a display. The adjustment or conversion of the rotational position of the cutting edge to the required value can be done automatically depending on the embodiment of the invention, for example, using the hoop drive or the zig-zag drive, or manually, after the control to be made change eg displayed on a display.
After securing and cutting the cutting line, after a sewing needle has again been attached to the needle bar, the controller can, for example, cause the formation of satin stitches and / or decorative stitches along parallel contours to the cutting line. The parallel contour can be generated, for example, between the cutting line and the securing seam running parallel thereto, such that the satin stitches cover both the cutting edge of the fabric and the securing seam. Alternatively or additionally, decorative stitches can also be formed in an analogous manner along a parallel contour located outside the cut line or behind the securing seam for embossing the sewing material.

In
In

The adjustment of the angle of rotation of the

In a further embodiment of the invention, the pivoting movement, ie the setting of the

For example, the overall embroidery pattern file may be completely stored in memory accessible to the sewing machine controller and loaded prior to the execution of the cutting operation. Alternatively, however, only stored conventional embroidery pattern data may be loaded into the sewing machine control, which executes the necessary processing steps for generating the total embroidery pattern file respectively before performing the cutting operation. This has the advantage that any embroidery patterns can be read into the sewing machine, and that cutting operations with a different number of predetermined Cutting alignments can be performed. (When calculating the total embroidery pattern file, the number and direction of the specified or predefinable cutting edge orientation can be taken into account).
