Abstract

The tile (1) has lateral edges (6, 7) cooperating with an adjusting tile by interlocking, where the tiles are made of terracotta. Positioning studs (14, 15) of one of the edges and positioning studs (16, 17) of another edge are laterally projected towards exterior. The studs of the former edge are placed opposite to the studs of the latter edge during assembling of the tiles. The studs of the tile are supported against studs of the adjacent tile. The distance between free ends of the studs corresponds to a predetermined distance. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a rectangular interlocking roofing tile.

Description

The invention relates to an interlocking tile and a method of manufacturing such a tile.

This generally has a generally rectangular shape and has a first and a second side edges, intended to cooperate by interlocking with a first and a second adjacent tiles. A tile according to the preamble of claim 1 is described in the document WO 02/095160 A .

The holding in position of the tiles relative to each other is thus ensured, as well as the sealing at the nesting areas.

These interlocking tiles are generally made of terracotta and are manufactured in the following manner.

The terracotta, kneaded and moistened, passes through a molding machine and out through a die to form a ribbon. It is colored by dusting with mineral substances and then cut.

The cut elements are then pressed, so as to give the tile its final shape, then are deposited on drying media circulating in a tunnel dryer for several hours.

This step has the effect of evacuating moisture and causes a variation in the dimensions of the tile.

The dry tiles are then loaded on wagons and then transported to a cooking oven where they will be cooked for several hours.

As before, this step also generates a variation of the dimensions of the tile.

The tiles thus have dimensions that are different from each other, although the dimensional variations generated by the drying and cooking operations generally remain rather low.

Due to the differences in size between the tiles, a roofer performs a layout operation in which the average tile size is calculated.

For this, the roofer chooses a sample of several tiles, for example 10 tiles, which he has in file. He then measures the dimension of the resulting line, which he divides by the number of tiles to obtain the average dimension of a tile.

This calepinage operation can be tedious to achieve and only provides an average dimension and therefore not accurate tiles.

The invention aims to remedy these drawbacks by proposing a tile whose dimensions are known in a precise manner, without the roofer needing to resort to a preliminary operation calepinage.

To this end, the invention relates to an interlocking tile, of generally rectangular shape, comprising a first and a second lateral edge, intended to cooperate by interlocking with first and second adjacent tiles, characterized in that each lateral edge comprises less a stud projecting laterally outwardly, the stud of one edge being disposed facing the stud of the other edge so that, when assembling a plurality of tiles, the studs of said tile come in abutment against the studs of the adjacent tiles, the distance between the free ends of the studs substantially corresponding to a determined distance.

In this way, only the distance between the free ends of the pads intervenes in the positioning of the tiles relative to each other. It is easily possible to obtain, industrially, with good reproducibility and acceptable tolerance, a predetermined value for such a distance.

According to one characteristic of the invention, each lateral edge comprises at least two studs spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the tile.

Advantageously, the free ends of the pads are ground so that the distance between the free ends of the pads substantially corresponds to a determined distance.

According to a possibility of the invention, the studs and the tile form a one-piece assembly.

Preferably, the tile has an inner face, intended to be turned towards a frame and an outer surface, intended to be turned outwards, the inner face having at least one retaining finger, intended to bear against a batten.

According to a feature of the invention, the tile has two retaining fingers, spaced from each other in the transverse direction of the tile.

Advantageously, the first and the second edges respectively comprise a male interlocking zone and an interlocking zone. female, each formed by a recess and having complementary grooves and ribs.

According to a possibility of the invention, the male interlocking zone and the female interlocking zone each comprise two grooves or ribs.

The invention further relates to a method of manufacturing a generally rectangular interlocking tile, of the type comprising first and second side edges, intended to cooperate by interlocking with first and second adjacent tiles, characterized in that it comprises a step of shaping, for example by molding and / or pressing, said tile by providing, in each lateral edge, at least one stud projecting laterally outwards, the studs of an edge being arranged in facing the studs of the other edge so that, when assembling a plurality of tiles, the studs of said tile bear against the studs of the adjacent tiles, the free ends of the studs then being machined, for example rectified, so that the distance between the free ends of the pads corresponds substantially to a determined distance.

  • Figures 1 et 2 en sont des vues en perspective, orientées de manière à rendre visible chacun des bords latéraux;
Anyway, the invention will be better understood with the aid of the description which follows with reference to the attached schematic drawing showing, by way of example, an embodiment of this tile.
  • Figures 1 and 2 are perspective views, oriented so as to make each of the lateral edges visible;
  • The figure 3 is a partial view, in cross section, of an assembly of two tiles according to the invention.

The figure 1 represents a mechanical tile 1, said interlocking, made of terracotta and generally rectangular shape.

It comprises an inner face 2, intended to be turned towards a frame and an outer surface 3, intended to be turned towards the outside, a high edge 4, intended to be oriented towards the top of the slope of a roof , a bottom edge 5, intended to be oriented downwards from the slope of a roof, as well as first and second side edges 6, 7.

A l'inverse, le décrochement ménagé au niveau du second bord 7 est tourné vers la face extérieure 3, c'est-à-dire que la zone creusée formant le décrochement est tournée vers l'extérieur en position montée de la tuile 1.More particularly, the recess formed at the first edge 6 is turned towards the inner face 2, that is to say that the zone recess forming the recess is turned towards the frame in the up position of the tile 1. In contrast, the recess formed at the second edge 7 is turned towards the outer face 3, that is to say that the excavated area forming the recess is turned outward in the mounted position of the tile 1.

Le premier rebord 11 s'étend depuis le bord haut 4, en direction du bord bas 5, sur une partie seulement de la longueur de la tuile 1.The recess of the first edge 6 thus forms a flange 10 extending in the extension of the outer face 3 and a first flange 11, extending substantially perpendicularly to the first flange 10. The first flange 11 extends from the high edge 4, towards the bottom edge 5, on only part of the length of the tile 1.

La seconde aile 12 s'étend depuis le bord haut 4, en direction du bord bas 5, sur une partie seulement de la longueur de la tuile 1.The recess of the second edge 7 forms a wing 12 extending in the extension of the inner face 2, and a second flange 13, extending substantially perpendicularly to the second flange 12. The second flange 12 extends from the high edge 4, towards the bottom edge 5, on only part of the length of the tile 1.

The first flange 10 is provided with two ribs 8 extending inward, the second flange 12 being provided with two complementary grooves 9, opening outwardly.

The first flange 6 comprises first and second positioning studs 14, 15 extending laterally outwards, that is to say parallel to the first flange 10. The first and second studs 14, 15 are spaced apart. one of the other, in the longitudinal direction of the tile 1, a distance of between 0 and 500 mm.

The third and fourth pads 16, 17 are respectively arranged opposite the first and second pads 14, 15.

The ends of the pads 14 to 17 are ground so that the distance between, respectively, the free ends of the first and third pads 14, 16, and the free ends of the second and fourth pads 15, 17 substantially corresponds to a distance from 0 to 500 mm, with a maximum tolerance of the order of 0.5 mm.

The tile 1 also has a recess 18 opening inwards and two retaining fingers 19, 20 projecting from the inner face 2. The two retaining fingers 19, 20, intended to cooperate with a batten of a framework, are separated from each other in the transverse direction of the tile 1 and are formed near the top edge 4 thereof.

The figure 3 represents the interlocking of a first and a second tiles 1 a, 1 b of the same structure according to the invention.

As shown in this figure, the first interlocking zone of the first tile 1a cooperates with the second interlocking zone of the second tile 1b. More particularly, the ribs 8 of the first tile 1a are inserted into the grooves 9 of the second tile 1b. In addition, the first and second pads 14, 15 of the first tile 1a respectively bear against the third and fourth pads 16, 17 of the second tile 1b.

De même, le bord latéral 6 de la première aile 10 de la première tuile 1 a ne prend pas appui contre le second rebord 13 de la seconde tuile 1 b.It should be noted that, once positioned, the ribs 8 of the first tile 1a do not bear against the side of the grooves 9 of the second tile 1b. Similarly, the side edge 6 of the first flange 10 of the first tile 1a does not bear against the second flange 13 of the second tile 1b.

In this way, it is ensured that the positioning of the tiles 1 a, 1 b relative to each other is only ensured by the studs 14 to 17 and their good dimensioning is sufficient to guarantee the correct positioning of the tiles 1 a, 1 b.

It is then no longer necessary to use a calepinage step of the type described above in order to calculate an average dimension of the tiles.

It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the embodiment of this marking device, described above as an example, but it embraces all variants.

Interlocking tile (1), of rectangular overall shape, comprising a first and a second lateral edge (6, 7) which are intended to cooperate by interlocking with a first and a second adjacent tile (1b), characterised in that each lateral edge (6, 7) comprises at least one stud (14, 15, 16, 17) protruding laterally outwards, the stud of one edge being arranged opposite the stud of the other edge so that, when a plurality of tiles (1a, 1b) are assembled, the studs of said tile (1a) come to bear against the studs of the adjacent tiles (1 b), the distance between the free ends of the studs (14, 15, 16, 17) corresponding substantially to a given distance.
  2. Tile (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that each lateral edge (6, 7) comprises at least two studs (14, 15, 16, 17), spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the tile.
  3. Tile (1) according to claim 2, characterised in that the ends of the studs (14, 15, 16, 17) are ground so that the distance between the free ends of the studs corresponds substantially to a given distance.
  4. Tile (1) according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the studs (14, 15, 16, 17) and the tile (1) form a one-piece assembly.
  5. Tile (1) according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterised in that the tile (1) comprises an inner face (2) intended to face towards a frame and an outer face (3) intended to face towards the exterior, the inner face (2) comprising at least one retaining finger (19, 20) intended to bear against a batten.
  6. Tile (1) according to claim 5, characterised in that the tile comprises two retaining fingers (19, 20), spaced apart from one another in the transverse direction of the tile.
  7. Tile (1) according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the first and the second edges (6, 7) respectively comprise a male interlocking zone and a female interlocking zone, each formed by a recessed area and having complementary grooves (8) and ribs (9).
  8. Tile (1) according to claim 7, characterised in that the male interlocking zone and the female interlocking zone each comprise two grooves (8) or ribs (9).
  9. Method for producing an interlocking tile (1) of rectangular overall shape, of the type comprising a first and a second lateral edge (6, 7) which are intended to cooperate by interlocking with a first and a second adjacent tile (1 b), characterised in that it comprises a step of manufacturing, for example by moulding and/or by pressing, said tile (1) by providing, in each lateral edge, at least one stud (14, 15, 16, 17) protruding laterally outwards, the studs of one edge being arranged opposite the studs of the other edge so that, when a plurality of tiles (1 a, 1 b) are assembled, the studs of said tile (1 a) come to bear against the studs of the adjacent tiles (1b), the free ends of the studs (14, 15, 16, 17) then being machined, for example ground, so that the distance between the free ends of the studs corresponds substantially to a given distance.
  10. Method according to claim 9, characterised in that the machining operation is carried out while respecting said distance between the free ends of the studs (14, 15, 16, 17) with a tolerance of plus or minus 0.5 mm.
