Abstract

The invention relates to a packaging container of multilayer plastic foil which can be sealed with at least one layer lying on the container inner side. The packaging container has two primary walls (2, 2a) lying opposite each other and placed opposite each other in a top sealing seam (14), and two side fold walls (3, 4) which are folded into the top sealing seam (14) as a double layer, flat between the primary walls (2, 2a) and toward the inside, with folded edges (7, 8) oriented against each other. The invention is improved in the sense of prespecified air-tightness and aroma-tightness, with minimal work and material requirements, in that a closure plug (16) made out of a hot melt mass is arranged inside the sealing seam (14) directly in front of each folded edge (7, 8).

Description

The invention relates to a packaging container according to the preamble of claim 1 and to a method for producing such a packaging container according to the preamble of claim 10.

Plastic packaging bags in the form of bags or sacks are provided on a large scale and in a great variety of designs for different packaging purposes. For everyday requirements of air and moisture-proof packaging containers of this type are already used multilayer films in which about an inner layer of a polyolefin, especially a low melting point polyethylene ensures that the film on the side of this layer is sealable and at the same time a Moisture barrier results, while a polyester layer on the outside on air-tightness, tear resistance and printability is tuned.

Ebenso kommen metallische Barriereschichten in Betracht. However, such conventional combinations of materials for the layers of plastic films in packaging containers are then not yet suitable to achieve high requirements for the gas-tightness and / or aroma resistance, for example, in sensitive foods, linings or other packaging goods. For these, there is a need to use plastic films with a barrier layer such as polyethylene-based ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) or EVOH. Likewise, metallic barrier layers come into consideration. This gas-and aroma-tight container surfaces can be ensured, but beyond that in connection areas, such as in sealing seams between adjacent wall or bottom surfaces, are to be sealed continuously and in particular against incorporated reclosures must meet the tightness specifications. For example, in the case of slider closures, the closure itself, with its latching profile, is an extrudate that is generally not gas- and aroma-tight with a thermoplastic material, especially since the latch itself does not constitute a reliable seal. However, it can be sealed head end in such a packaging container as a slider closure with continuously connected terminal lugs, these terminal lugs can then be formed from a material which has a sufficiently high gas and / or aroma resistance and which on the other hand with a low-melting, sealable Outer layer or provided with corresponding welding ribs.

It has been found, however, that these measures do not suffice even with consistent implementation, from a packaging container of common type to achieve such a high gas and aroma resistance. Rather, in the testing despite leaks in the production of such packaging containers still leakages were noted. A packaging container according to the preamble of claim 1 and the process for its preparation are known from EP 1 360 912 B1 known.

The object of the invention is therefore to design a packaging container of the known type in an embodiment with multi-layered, also provided with sufficient barrier properties plastic film so that a given gas and aroma resistance can be achieved, such a packaging container with minimal labor and material costs and should be as far as possible to manufacture with common and proven manufacturing technologies.

According to the invention, this object is achieved on the one hand by a multi-packaging container according to the preamble of claim 1, starting with the characterizing features of claim 1 and on the other hand by a method according to the preamble of claim 10 starting with the characterizing features of claim 10.

The invention is based on the finding that the sealing seams in any case, where transitions are to be overcome by the number of layers of the plastic film, represent weak points in suitable barrier materials. These lead namely with special barrier layers to greater thickness of the individual layers and thus to greater total thickness of sealing seams. In addition, the barrier layers cause greater stiffness and bulkiness of the plastic film. This is particularly noticeable on the folded edges of the Seitenfaftenwände noticeable in terms of points of failure in the top seal, then very easily enters a leak.

This weak point can be eliminated according to the invention by a closure plug of a hot melt compound, which is provided immediately before each folding edge of the gusseted walls within the sealed seam. Technically, such a plug of a hot melt is applied to one of the sealable surfaces, such as the fold itself or easily and reliably on one of the sealable neighboring surfaces, such as the inside of one of the main walls or an adjacent outer wall of a slider terminal lug and then in the execution melted the top seal to close the cross section of the top seal not only with existing sealable layers of the adjacent walls but in particular with this stopper.

The hot melt compound can basically be a low melting point polyethylene (PE), as it is also used for the surface or the welding ribs of slider terminal lugs. But it can also be used another thermoplastic material low melting point. The often used for the sealable inner layers of plastic film for such packaging containers and optionally also in one of the present container polyethylene is not regularly useful, since it usually draws threads and thus is difficult to dose droplet-shaped, and since it is also stored in stock in the molten state decomposes for a long time. It is also quite advantageous if the hotmelt composition has a lower melting point than the sealable layer of the adjacent plastic films in order to achieve melting and optionally also a thin liquid in an inner region which is relatively far away from the sealing jaws of an externally gripping tool.

In an upper region of the packaging container 1 along the entire upper edge 13, a top seal seam 14 is executed, which does not have to comply with a minimum width, but generally relatively wide for safety, preferably over the entire area between the folded edge 12 and the top edge 13 of the side seam 5 bis extends to the side seam 6.

Out Fig. 2 For example, a cross-sectional area through the top seal 14 is shown in a left side region including side gusset 4. The side fold 4 is here with a half of the fold against one of the front wall 2 corresponding rear wall 2a of the packaging container, with the other half of the fold against a terminal lug 11a, which is congruent with the terminal lug 11 and related to this in the region of a lower fold 12. Upon a first opening of the container for putting the terminal lugs 11a and 11 are separated by cutting or tearing along a predetermined line of weakness. Until then, they form a continuous wall in the head area. The terminal lug 11 in turn rests against the front wall 2. The film walls shown in cross section are all at least on one side with a sealable surface, such as provided a low-melting polyolefin layer such as PE and PP, which lies on the side facing the container interior. As a result, the container rear wall 2a with the adjacent gusset half of the side gusset wall 4 is firmly and tightly sealed, while the other gusset half 4 is sealed with the - to the container interior facing half 11a of the terminal lug of the reclosure. the terminal lug 11 of the reclosure is in turn connected to the front wall 2. The two halves of the side gusseted wall 4 are unconnected to each other, but are completed by the folding edge 8, while the upwardly unconnected expiring terminal lugs 11 a and 11 are closed at the bottom by the folding edge 12.

In the cross-sectional view according to Fig. 2 shows that the top seal has overcome a problematic transition in the area in front of the fold edge 8 of the side gusset wall 4, where a vertical gusset space 15 is formed. This becomes more critical compared to comparable bag designs in that the films are provided with barrier layers in the sense of a gas and aroma resistance, which reinforce these films in thickness and / or rigidity. At this point, even with carefully selected materials and careful execution of the seal there is a risk of leakage. This danger is met according to the invention with a plug 16 of a hot melt, which is located within the sealed seam immediately in front of the folding edge 8 (and just before the folding edge 7) and the gusset space 15 closes off during sealing. The position of the plug 16 can be selected higher or lower in front of the folding edge 8, as long as it is still in the area of the head seam 14 and during sealing leads to the fact that the plug is softened and the gusset space 15 closes.

Also, the size of the plug allows for choices as long as the closure is achieved. Excess material is pushed up and down during sealing.

The plug 16 consists of a hot melt, which should be easy to process. In particular, it is to be selected from a group of known hotmelt compositions which are to be kept warm mechanically for a long time, can be metered well and, in particular, do not draw threads, as is customary in polyethylene for the materials intended for layers of plastic films for the packaging container area. Suitably, the melting point of the hot melt is also chosen lower than the melting point of the sealable layers, so that premature melting and a good distribution of the plug is possible and in an internal situation in which the heat of the welding jaws must be approached by several layers. Such a melting temperature also does not interfere with the gradation of the melting points of the layers in the plastic films used for the packaging container in which, for example, an inner layer of polyethylene melts much lower than an outer layer of polyester, so that only the inner layer is involved in the sealing ,

An in Fig. 3 illustrated embodiment of a packaging container 21 is largely consistent with the after Fig.1 and 2 match, so that the related reference numerals are taken over. However, the gusseted walls have shortened upper edges 17, 18 that end within the top seal 14. This is a measure to close the gussets internally. However, this measure has not proved sufficient to exclude the above-described leakage in the top seal 14 before the folded edges 7 and 8. There escaping gas, for example, can not escape upwards because the seal seam here runs continuously and after elimination of the gussets 4, the terminal lugs 11 and 11 a with the main walls 2 and 2a connects tightly. However, it forms along the gusset top edges 17 and 18 corresponding gussets and the escaping gas can then along the folding edges 7 and 8 around the upper end respectively in the free space between the layers of the side gusset wall 4 and 3 enter and thus escape , This is in turn countered with a corresponding plug 16.

The leakage problem solved here also occurs when the reclosure 9 is dispensed with at the top of the packaging container 1, that is to say when the packaging container is closed with the top-seal seam and remains open when the top seal seam is removed or another opening of the packaging container. Then, though omitted in Fig. 2 the intermediate walls 11 and 11 a, but then the leakage problem occurs between the remaining layers and is also to be solved with the plug 16.

In terms of process technology, the plug is applied during the joining of the walls of the bag, after gussets are fixed at least on one of the main surfaces and the folded edges of the side gusset walls are fixed. The plug 16 is then applied in each case before the fold edges. The sealing of the corresponding problem area is then carried out with a seal of conventional type, without the need for special further steps or special mechanical precautions during sealing.
