Abstract

The screw (2) has a ball (10) fixed in a recess i.e. ball scraper, at a front side for arrangement at an electrical conductor. The recess has clear diameter corresponding to dimensions of the ball. The ball is rotatably arranged in different directions via a gap that ensures free movement of the ball. The gap separates the ball from a wall of the recess. The ball protrudes over the front side in a working position. The ball is snapped in the recess, in a freely rotatable manner. A lubricant is applied on surface area of the ball.

Description

The invention relates to a clamping screw for fastening an electrical conductor in a metallic clamp designed as a pipe section, which has in its wall at least one threaded through hole for receiving the clamping screw, in which serving in a recess on the voltage applied to the electrical conductor End face of the clamping screw a ball is attached ( DE 1 902 067 U ).

The contact pressure with which a clamping screw presses in the assembled state against an electrical conductor, should be as large as possible and remain intact, so that a stable electrical connection between electrical conductors of cables, especially power cables, can be guaranteed throughout the required life. Due to the friction between the clamping screw and the thread of the through hole of the clamp and the friction of the end face of the clamping screw when tightening the same on the surface of the conductor, an increased force is required to rotate the clamping screw. As a result, the force with which the clamping screw presses on the conductor may be too low for a sufficient contact reliability for a long time.

In the case of stranded conductors, the individual wires of the same rub against one another during the compression caused by tightening the clamping screw. This results in that a lower pressure is generated inside the conductor than at the surface thereof. This can lead to problems when connecting stranded conductors with a large cross section or with segmented conductors, so-called "Milliken conductors". If the contact of the individual wires inside the conductor is insufficient, there is an above-average warming. For aluminum ladders, the heating also leads to increased flow of the material and thus after a short time to a further decrease in contact pressure. The electrical connection between the clamping screw and conductor or between the conductor and terminal is then unusable relatively quickly.

From the DE 102 30 502 A1 a clamping screw is known, on the front side of which is designed as a disc clamping piece section, which is offset by a lateral groove to form a predetermined breaking point all around with respect to the clamping screw. During tightening of the clamping screw, the force increases on the end face and the disc is separated at the predetermined breaking point of the clamping screw. Thereafter, the clamping screw can rotate relative to the disc, which is then pressed only without its own rotation in the axial direction of the clamping screw on the head. Before cutting, the disc is rotated with the clamping screw and thereby moved or rotated on the conductor. This can lead to undefined damage to the conductor. In addition, the relatively large-area disc does not allow a high contact pressure in the interior of the conductor, especially in the case of stranded conductors with a large cross-section.

In the aforementioned DE 1 902 067 U is described as a pressure screw clamping screw described in which in a recess in the end face of the screw shaft, a ball as a pressure piece is axially limited movably supported. The recess is so large that the ball in the same in the axial direction of the screw shaft is so far displaced that it completely disappears when tightening the clamping screw for fixing to an electrical conductor in the same profile. It is moved against the action of a pressure spring mounted in the screw shaft. Therefore, when tightening the clamping screw, only the end face or shoulder thereof first acts on the conductor. The ball is only pressed when the occurrence of fatigue of the conductor by the compression spring to the same. Also in this known clamping screw so the end face of the clamping screw is further rotated after hitting the conductor in the circumferential direction, so that damage to the conductor can not be excluded here.

The invention has for its object to make the above-described clamping screw so that when tightening the same damage to the conductor can be avoided and that they also and especially in stranded conductors produces a long-term high contact pressure.

This object is achieved according to the invention characterized
  • the clear width of the recess corresponds to the dimensions of the sphere,
  • that the ball is rotatably arranged in the recess by a movability securing gap separated from the wall in all directions and rotatably
  • that the ball protrudes in working position on the front side of the clamping screw.

The ball of this clamping screw protrudes constantly and in particular in their working position out of the same and when tightening the same applies solely to the conductor to be fastened. Although the ball in its dimensions corresponding recess in all directions rotatable, that is freely rotatably mounted, it is initially rotated when tightening the clamping screw with the same. However, only until it rests against the surface of the conductor. Thereafter, the ball is no longer rotated during further rotation of the clamping screw with the same, but pressed in the direction of movement of the clamping screw on and in the head. Damage to the surface of the conductor by a force-twisted part can therefore be excluded. The freely rotatable ball is particularly in stranded conductors with a large cross-section, for example, 2000 mm 2 of great advantage, because when using a clamping screw with such a ball and the individual wires inside the conductor are acted upon. It can be achieved in this way, a very high contact pressure between the clamping screw and conductor, which is maintained over a long time.

To ensure the free rotation of the ball in the recess of the clamping screw with increased security, may be applied to the surface thereof with advantage a lubricant.

In Fig. 1 is an existing example of a tinned aluminum alloy, designed as a pipe piece terminal 1 shown. The clamp 1 has two threaded holes, in each of which an externally threaded clamping screw 2 is arranged. In the terminal 1 protrude from two different sides forth the electrical conductors 3 and 4 of two electrical cables 5 and 6, which are in particular energy cables. They are fixed in the mounting position by the clamping screws 2 in the terminal 1 and thereby electrically connected to each other. The electrical conductors 3 and 4 are designed in a preferred embodiment as a stranded conductor. They consist in particular of aluminum or copper. The conductors 3 and 4 may also consist of segments in which individual wires are combined.

The clamping screw 2 after the FIGS. 2 and 3 has a suitable for applying a screwing screw head 7, a shaft 8, an external thread 9 and a ball 10, which is mounted in an existing at their serving for the conductor 3 and 4, front side recess. The recess is designed for example as a spherical cap, in which the ball 10 is snapped. However, the ball 10 may also be held, for example by means of an elastomeric ring in the recess at least until it strikes when tightening the clamping screw 2 on one of the conductors 3 or 4.

The clear width of the recess corresponds to the dimensions of the ball 10. It is advantageously slightly larger than the ball 10, so that a narrow gap remains between the ball 10 and the wall of the recess. This gap ensures the free mobility of the ball 10 in the clamping screw 2, so that they are in the Recess relative to the same can rotate when pressed against one of the conductors 3 or 4. The ball 10 is advantageously made of the same material as the conductors 3 and 4 to be connected, that is preferably made of aluminum, an aluminum alloy or copper. To ensure their free rotation in the recess of the clamping screw 2 with increased security, a lubricant can be applied to the surface of the ball 10 with advantage. The ball 10 penetrates more or less deeply into the conductor 3 or 4, depending on the force with which the clamping screw 2 is rotated.

The clamping screw 2 can according to the 4 and 5 Also be designed as a shear screw with at least one, in their axial course attached shearing point or predetermined breaking point. It has according to the drawing a circumferential predetermined breaking point 11 and a second screw head 12 which is effective when the screw head 7 is sheared off at the predetermined breaking point 11. For such a shear screw can be used to tighten a conventional wrench. The screw head 7 is sheared off when a predetermined torque is reached.

For further tightening the shear screw until it reaches the desired tight fit then the screw head 12 is used. By means of the second screw head 12, the clamping screw 2 can be tightened with further increased force. Upon reaching a given increased torque then also shears off the second screw head 12, and that at a second predetermined breaking point 13, at which the shaft 8 of the clamping screw 2 merges in the external thread 9 bearing part. This variant of the clamping screw 2 can be used with advantage when a particularly uniform penetration of the same is to be achieved in a conductor. For example, with the appropriate installation instructions, a fitter can first tighten all the existing clamping screws 2 until the first screw head 7 has been sheared off. Thereafter, the clamping screws 2, for example, in the same order as in the first screwing, until the shearing of the second screw head 12 thereof are tightened.

The screw heads 7 and 12 are formed in the usual technique, for example as a hexagon. The clamping screw 2 can then be rotated with a conventional wrench. To achieve and maintain a good electrically conductive contact, a fixed connection between the conductors 3 and 4 of the two cables 5 and 6 and the tubular terminal 1 is required, in which the conductors are inserted. This can be ensured with advantage by using a so-called torque wrench, which then "twists" when tightening the clamping screw 2, when a sufficient tight fit of the same is achieved.

The clamping screw 2 could also have a central polygonal blind hole and then rotated by means of a matching in the blind hole pin with a polygonal cross-section.
