Abstract

The sliding doors and windows of today's market, Fig. IA and IB, are moving parallel, on rollers (1.1), rolling on tracks (1.3) on the bottom rail of their frame (1.4). Because of the leaves superposition, moving space is required which influence the profiles width and their strength, while the movement on rollers creates concentrated loads on the rolling points and strain on the profiles of sash and frame, so that cannot be used in high-rise buildings. 0 The above disadvantages are abolished by altering the moving of panels, Fig. 2A and 2B, from rolling to suspension and sliding through mutual hooks between of which are inserted Teflon spherules or Teflon rods (2.4) and polyamide to the sliding surface (2.9). 5 Furthermore, only the vertical profiles of the sash, which receive the wind pressure, are reinforced, Fig. 3, by increase of their width and place them perpendicular to the glass plane crosswise (3.1, 3.2), so that in horizontal section they form a 'Z' shape, while the horizontal profiles remain unchanged.

Description

Sliding oversized doors and windows with suspended glazed panels by means of continuous hooks and sliding on Teflon spherules or Teflon rods tracks and with sash frame of "Z" shaped aluminum profiles

The invention refers to the manufacturing of oversized sliding windows and doors of which the movement of the glazed panels is achieved by the suspension and sliding by means of mutual hooks, between of which Teflon spherules or Teflon rods are inserted and of which the sash vertical elements take the form of "Z" shape whenever high resistance to wind pressure is required.

The available sliding doors and windows on today's market, Fig. IA vertical section, and Fig. IB horizontal section, of a double panel sliding window, are moving parallel on rollers (1.1) mounted on the bottom rail of the window or door's sash (1.2) and rolling on tracks (1.3) mounted on the bottom rail of the frame (1.4).

For the smooth movement and the waterproomess between the leaves enough space,"a"(1.5) is required to contain all the bypassing leaves profile widths plus the margins required for movement and waterproomess between them. That space is very significant and influences directly the profile width of the glazed panels and their strength as a result, which particularly for the vertical profiles which receive the horizontal forces of the wind pressure and which has a specific implication when they are used as exterior glazing in high-rise buildings where they need to resist extreme wind pressures.

Furthermore the movement on rollers means load concentration on rolling points resulting in additional strain on the bottom rail of the sash and the corresponding rail of the frame.

Therefore all of the above reduce the possibility of using sliding doors and windows as they exist today, as exterior glazing on high-rise buildings, where the strength requirement are in increased because of their exposure to high positive and negative wind pressures.

The above disadvantages are abolished by the present invention since, as Fig.2A vertical section of a double panel slider and as Fig. 2B horizontal section of the same, it changes the way of panels movement by altering the leave's sliding from the bottom rail of the frame, as it is today (1.4), to the top rail of the frame (2.1), and with the hanging of panels by reciprocal hooks, that are, on the top rail of the frame (2.2) and on the top rail of the sash (2.3) respectively Between the reciprocal hooks (2.2, 2.3) are inserted either a number of Teflon spherules or a continuous Teflon rod (2.4), so that the movement of the panels to take place from the top with a uniform and smooth sliding, while on the bottom rail of the sash the needful shaped sliding guide (2.5) wrapped with polyamide (2.6) is moving into a suitable notch of the bottom rail of the frame (2.7)

In cases of oversized sliding doors and windows with large widths and a lot of weight where the requirements for smooth sliding are high, the overall friction coefficient and the sliding as a result, are farther improved, with the covering of the sliding surface (2.8) of the frame hook (2.2) with properly shaped polyamide profile (2.9).

Furthermore in cases where the strength requirements to wind pressure are high, Fig.3, only the vertical profiles of the sash are reinforced, to the required degree, by increasing the profile with and by placing them perpendicular to the plane of the panel (3.1) and across each other (3.2), so that in horizontal section they form a "Z" shape.

With this shape it is accomplished, Fig.4 vertical section, the reinforcement of the vertical profiles (4.1) which are receiving the wind pressures, without need for frame width increase (4.2) since the horizontal profiles remain unchanged (4.3).

Likewise with the "Z" shape when the leaves of a window are stacked up, Fig.5 horizontal section, the total thickness of the stacked leaves is reduced considering that the width of the vertical profiles of the sash does not take part (5.1), (5.2).

By converting the rolling to suspension and sliding, as it has been mentioned, it is given the possibility for uniform distribution of loads, dead load and wind pressure, to all load carrying members of the frame and the sash, without problems or necessary adjustments in the future.

At the same time it is ensured the stable and smooth rolling of the window leaves and their antiseismic function since they are stabilized on the bottom rail of the frame and they slide along the sliding line of the suspension hooks.

Claims

1. The aluminum sliding doors and windows with "Z" shape sash frame and movement of the glazed panels with suspension through hooks and sliding on Teflon spherules or Teflon bars, are characterized by that the vertical elements of the sash panels have, in a cross section of the profiles, a "Z" shape (3.1 ),(3.2), and that their movement take place at the top rail of the frame (2.1) by suspension by reciprocal hooks (2.2, 2.3) and sliding through Teflon spherules or Teflon rods (2.4), that are inserted between the suspension hooks.

Teflon spherules or Teflon bars, are characterized according to the claim 1 , by the fact that the vertical profiles of the sash, on which the wind pressure has direct impact, they have increased cross section width and higher moment of inertia in relationship to the horizontals and they are placed perpendicular to5 the plane of the glazed panels and across each other, so that in horizontal section of the glazed panels they have a "Z" shaped form (3.1, 3.2).

The aluminum sliding doors and windows with "Z" shape sash frame and movement of the glazed panels, with suspension through hooks and sliding on0 Teflon spherules or Teflon bars, are characterized according to the claims land 2, by the fact that the movement of the glazed panels is taking place on the top rail of the frame (2.1) by suspension through reciprocal hooks placed one on the top rail of the frame (2.2) and the other on the top rail of the sash (2.3). 5

4. The aluminum sliding doors and windows with "Z" shape sash frame and movement of the glazed panels with suspension through hooks and sliding on Teflon spherules or Teflon bars, are characterized according to the claims 1,2 and 3, by the fact that the sliding among the hooks is taking place on Teflon spherules or on Teflon continuous rod which are inserted on a special shaped0 groove on the hook tip of the window or door frame (2.2).

The aluminum sliding doors and windows with "Z" shape sash frame and movement of the glazed panels with suspension through hooks and sliding on Teflon spherules or Teflon bars, are characterized according to the claims 1 ,2,5 3, and 4 by the fact that in cases where extra small friction coefficient is required, a properly shaped polyamide profile (2.9) is placed on the sliding surface of the hook of the door or window frame (2.2)

6. The aluminum sliding doors and windows with "Z" shape sash frame and 0 movement of the glazed panels with suspension through hooks and sliding on Teflon spherules or Teflon bars are characterized according to the claims 1, by the fact that their shape and size of the hooks, the Teflon spherules or Teflon rods, and polyamide profiles are proportional to the size of the window or door panels and to the structural requirements of the project.
