Definitions

  • the invention relates to a security paper for the production of security or valuable documents with an at least partially transparent film element, which is freely accessible at least in some areas on at least one side of the security paper through the security paper.
  • the invention further relates to an associated production method for the security paper, a document of value with such a security paper as well as a film element for such a security paper or document of value.
  • Security documents such as banknotes, identity cards and the like, are often provided with security elements for security, which allow a verification of the authenticity of the value documents and at the same time serve as protection against unauthorized reproduction.
  • Increasingly transparent security features such as transparent windows in banknotes, are becoming increasingly attractive.
  • a film provided on all sides with an adhesive layer is applied to a banknote in order to close a previously inserted through opening.
  • the film is provided with a security feature, such as a hologram or an optically variable coating.
  • the object of the present invention is to improve a security paper of the type mentioned above with regard to the visual appearance of its window area and at the same time to increase the counterfeit protection of the security paper.
  • the film element is connected to the security paper via a highly transparent and clearly formed adhesive layer in the region of the freely accessible subareas.
  • the freely accessible portions of the film element are often referred to in this description as window areas, regardless of whether the film element is disposed inside or on a surface of the security paper. If a film element arranged on a surface of the security paper is freely accessible through the security paper in a subarea, the security paper in this subarea contains a continuous opening extending up to the film element, to which reference is also often expressly made.
  • the invention is based on the idea to improve the visual appearance of the window area by an optimized design of the adhesive layer, with which the film element and the security paper are connected. As a result, the counterfeit protection of the security paper is thereby also increased, since a visual or mechanical inspection of the window area can be performed better and more reliably than in the prior art. Due to the required specific properties in terms of durability, suitability for certain application methods and the required layer thickness, it is often difficult to realize an adhesive coating with a high transparency and low turbidity. Rather, the present inventors have recognized that the adhesive coating often scatters or mattes and thus reduces the transparency and clarity of the film element.
  • the adhesive layer has, for at least one of the freely accessible partial regions, a recess which essentially surrounds the region of the partial region.
  • the adhesive layer has a recess in the form of the freely accessible portion, which is 1 mm to 2 mm smaller or 1 mm to 2 mm larger than the portion is formed.
  • the adhesive layer in the region of at least one of the freely accessible partial regions next to the recess has a pattern region in which the adhesive layer is applied in the form of patterns, characters or a coding.
  • a colored adhesive layer can be used with a visible in the visible, infrared and / or ultraviolet color.
  • the adhesive layer can thereby be used in the window area as a decorative design element, for displaying information and / or as a further security feature.
  • the adhesive layer in the region of at least one of the freely accessible partial regions has a thin region with a reduced layer thickness, wherein the layer thickness is reduced in particular to less than half the layer thickness outside the thin region. This measure also significantly increases the transparency and clarity in the window area.
