Definitions
- the present invention relates generally to the field of ballistic protection using bulletproof panels.
- the invention relates to a partition panel comprising a main panel area representing the bulk of the panel surface, this main area having a main layer of bulletproof material and a panel stiffening structure having a first layer. stiffening element extending along a first face of the main layer.
- the present invention is defined by the panels of claims 1 and 7, and by the cabin of claim 11.
- a bulletproof material is a material adapted to immobilize a bullet fired by a firearm such as a 357 or a 44 magnum.
- honeycomb stiffening structure of the panel of the invention makes it possible to maintain the main bullet-proof layer thanks to its rigidity while now a low panel weight facilitating the handling and installation of the panel.
- the honeycomb stiffening structure makes it possible to give the panel rigidity and lightness.
- the thickness of the panel can thus be important in this case of the order of 5 centimeters without causing weight inconvenience.
- the honeycomb stiffening layer gives the bulletproof panel of the invention a thickness equivalent to standard bulkhead panels without posing a significant weight problem related to the thickness of the bulletproof panel.
- the panel of the invention can thus be used to replace traditional panels while providing ballistic protection.
- the first panel assembly area prefferably has a bullet-proof tongue disposed along a portion of the main block and extending along the first panel edge so that the panel comprises along the first edge, and in a cross-section of the panel, a bulletproof L-shaped profile defined by the main block and a portion of said bullet-proof tongue.
- This bulletproof L-profile provides frontal and lateral support zones for the support of another panel, these support zones thus promoting the bulletproof resistance of the assembly between the panels.
- the positioning of the main layer between the stiffening structures allows a symmetry of the structure in panel cut and promotes a symmetry of mechanical behavior of the panel.
- all the layers of the panel are flat and parallel to each other and are glued to each other to form a composite sandwich structure.
- the term sandwich refers to a combination of several laminated layers forming a composite.
- the first and second stiffening layers 4a, 4b are each cellular.
- Each of these panels has a first panel assembly area 6 extending along a first panel edge 7 and having a first conformation and a second assembly area 8 extending along a second edge panel 9 opposed to the first edge 7 and having a second conformation complementary to the first conformation.
- the first assembly zone 6 comprises a main block 6a of bulletproof material constituted by a portion of the main layer 3 extending in the first assembly zone 6.
- the second panel assembly zone 8 which extends along a second panel edge 9 opposite the first edge 7 has an element of bullets 10 constituted by a portion of the main layer 3 extending in the second assembly zone 8 towards the outside of the panel, along the second panel edge 9.
- This element 10 thus forms a male bullet-proof portion 10 which extends the entire length of the edge of the panel.
- first and second assembly zones 6, 8 have complementary conformations and respectively comprise a main block 6a and a male portion 10 of bale-like material makes it possible to obtain a standard panel 1 that can be assembled with another identical panel. while ensuring this assembly of several panels (identical to each other) to have bulletproof characteristics.
- the assembly of two panels 1 and 1b according to the invention comprises a bulletproof block 6a belonging to a panel 1 assembled with a bulletproof element 10 belonging to the other panel 1b which guarantees a continuity of protection against bullets. included at the location of the assembly of panels 1 and 1a.
- the bullet-proof materials of the first assembly zone 6 and the bullet-proof element 10 of the second assembly zone are shaped so as to allow the assembly of a first assembly zone 6 of a first panel 1 according to the invention with a second assembly zone 8 of a second panel 1b according to the invention and are adapted so that such a panel assembly comprises, in the direction of the thickness of the panels, a superposition of ballistic materials of the first panel 1 with the bulletproof element 10 of the second panel 1b.
- This superposition or overlap allows a continuity of the bullet-proof structure over the entire panel surfaces including at the point of assembly between two panels 1 and 1b.
- the ballistic materials of the first assembly zone 6 are shaped to complement the bale material element 10 of the second assembly zone 8 in such a way that the bulletproof element 10 of a panel 1 can fit with the bulletproof materials of the first assembly zone 6 of another panel 1b of identical shape.
- This complementary shape allows an interlocking of materials bulletproof when assembling panels 1 and la and prevents bales can cross the assembly and that for all the trajectories of balls directed to the assembly.
- the first and second joining zones 6 and 8 are shaped so that when a first joining zone 6 of a first panel 1 is assembled with a second joining zone 8 of a second panel 1b, the cross-sectional assembly comprises a bullet-shaped baffle.
- This structure of the baffle assembly promotes the connection between the panels 1 and 1b and limits the risk of deformation of the assembly under the effect of bullet impacts.
- the second assembly zone 8 of the panel 1 is adapted to receive a first assembly zone 6 of the other panel 1b which also has a first conformation and thus form a connection between two panels 1, 1a of a thickness e1 equal to a thickness of the main zone e.
- said male portion 10 has a thickness E1 equal to the groove width L1, which allows the tongues to hold the element in position thus increasing the rigidity of the assembly and its resistance to impacts.
- the tongues 11 and 12 made of bulletproof material are assembled, in this case by gluing, on either side of the main block 6a constituted by the main layer portion 3 so as to define a groove having the thickness of the layer main 3.
- the thickness of the first stiffening layer 4a is the same as the thickness of the first tongue 11.
- the thickness of the second stiffening layer 4b is preferably the same as the thickness of the second tongue 12.
- Such an assembly of two panels according to the present embodiment allows bulletproof protection because it comprises two bulletproof tabs delimiting a groove in which the bulletproof element 10 is located.
- the panels according to the invention allow continuity of protection including at the assembly site.
- the panels of the invention comprise a first layer of material skin 14 disposed on a first outer face of the panel and a second layer of skin material 15 disposed on a second outer face of the panel.
- Each layer of skin material 14, 15 is watertight and flame retardant.
- the skin material is preferably a decorative laminate material such as a material known and marketed under the trademark DELMAT® POLYESTER 68020.
- At least one of the honeycomb stiffening layers of the panel of the invention is honeycomb comprising polypropylene and / or para amides (Kevlar ® type).
- the stiffening layers comprise a para-amide material preferentially when the ballistic protection panel is intended for a specific application such as aeronautics.
- the bead material of the main layer 3 is made of laminated composite material.
- the combination of the stiffening structure and a laminated bale material helps to lighten the bulletproof panel.
- This laminated bale structure therefore allows the kinetic energy of the ball to be gradually absorbed to contribute to its progressive braking within the panel thus avoiding a risk of ricochet of the ball.
- the bale-wall material of partition wall and / or floor and / or ceiling and / or angle plate comprises aramid fibers (also known as Kevlar) and or or layers of glass fibers combined with a phenolic or epoxy resin.
- this bulletproof material is a laminated shielding material known and marketed under the trade name PARE-LITE®.
- the figure 3 has a bulletproof cabin 16, comprising several panels 1, 1a according to any one of the panel embodiments of the invention and preferentially conform to the mode described in Figures 1 and 2 .
- This cabin also comprises a floor 17 comprising a layer of bulletproof floor material and a ceiling comprising a layer of bulletproof material ceiling (the ceiling is not represented on the floor). figure 3 ).
- Floor and ceiling bales are identical to those of the figure 1 .
- This cabin 16 further comprises brackets 19 for connecting partition panels 1, 1a each adapted to join together panels arranged at an angle relative to each other.
- Each bracket further comprises a first junction area adapted to receive one of said first or second assembly areas of a panel and a second junction areas adapted to receive a first or second assembly areas of another panel.
- the first junction zone is a groove or a male portion of bulletproof material.
- the second junction zone is a groove or a male portion of bulletproof material.
- each angle of the cabin is formed by a baluster angle assembled with two bulletproof panels so that there is at the place of each assembly angle / panel a sandwich of several layers of material balls.
- the angle has the same structure as the panel of the figure 2 , the only difference with respect to this panel being that the main zone 2 is bent along a line parallel to the edges of the panel to form an angle connecting two panels.
- a panel according to the embodiment of the figure 2 comprising a PARE LITE® bullet-proof layer held between two honeycomb stiffening layers on the outer faces of which DELMAT ® POLYESTER 68020 type skin materials are attached is particularly advantageous.
- a panel according to the invention is two to three times lighter than conventional shielding steel or concrete of a similar level of protection.
- the installation of such a panel limits the constraints applied to the floors or floors of buildings.
- Such a panel of the invention is insensitive to corrosion, its skin material providing further excellent fire resistance and a decorative appearance and protection against ultraviolet and easy cleaning.
- honeycomb stiffening layers provide a mechanical reinforcement of the structure, as well as good thermal and sound insulation.
- This type of ballistic protection panel is therefore particularly suitable for the manufacture of an armored cab-type safety zone of the type presented in the figure 3 and allowing the discharge weapons safely in the shooting centers and armories and police stations of National police.
- bullet traps can be placed in these cabins that comply with categories 1 (357 and 44 Mag handguns) and 2 (12-gauge rifles) as defined by the BAIPN (Bureau of Real Estate Affairs of the National Police).
- Such a cabin can be delivered disassembled in the form of a kit comprising panels according to the invention, angles, these panels being drilled and pre-fitted with inserts to allow assembly panel / angle.
