Definitions
- the present invention relates to a firing device which can be fired with liquid fuel, in particular with ethanol, according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Such a "wall fire” has - as mentioned above - a reservoir for a liquid fuel, such as ethanol, wherein the ethanol is burned odorless and noiseless during the operation of the wall fire. Since the ethanol for burning must be transported from the reservoir to a combustion zone of the firing device, wick-type constructions are known which usually function like a candle. Of great importance in such firing devices is that on the one hand they should be easy to use and on the other hand require only a small, preferably no, maintenance.
- the present invention deals with the problem, for a generic firing device, an improved or at least one specify another embodiment, which is characterized in particular by ease of use and low maintenance.
- the invention is based on the general idea, as a wick for the transport of liquid fuel from a reservoir to a combustion zone of a firing device to use a capillary active metal element, which does not wear or only insignificantly in the operation of, equipped with such a capillary active metal element firing device, and thereby has an extremely long life.
- a capillary active metal element which does not wear or only insignificantly in the operation of, equipped with such a capillary active metal element firing device, and thereby has an extremely long life.
- a capillary active metal element according to the invention on the one hand on such a high capillary action that easy transport of the liquid fuel from the reservoir into the combustion zone of the firing device can be guaranteed and on the other hand, such a low or no wear, so that wear of the metal element during operation of the firing device can preferably be completely excluded and such a firing device preferably operates maintenance-free. It is thus only a rotational refill of the liquid fuel required, but this is not perceived by the user of the firing device as a
- the capillary-active metal element is designed as a fiber plate or as a metal foam.
- metal foams have a very low density due to the pores and voids, but have considerable rigidity and strength.
- metal foams are often made by means of metal powder and a metal hydride, such as titanium dihydride, both elements mixed together and then compacted by hot pressing or extrusion to a starting material. This starting material is then heated to a temperature above the melting point of the metal, wherein the titanium dihydride releases gaseous hydrogen and thereby foaming the mixture.
- metal foams Due to the porous structure, metal foams have at least sufficiently high capillary activity, which in any case is sufficient to transport the liquid fuel from the reservoir to the combustion zone of the firing device.
- capillary active are also metallic fiberboard, in which case the packing density of the individual fibers, the fiber length, and the metal used and the remaining between the individual fibers of the fiberboard cavities decide on the capillary activity of the fiberboard and thus on the possible use in a firing device according to the invention.
- At least one, but preferably at least two parallel and substantially vertically arranged fiberboard or metal foam elements are provided, which protrude with an upper end portion of the liquid fuel, while with their respective lower end portion in contact with the liquid fuel stand.
- the firing device has an adjustable cover element, which is adjustable between one, the reservoir in the combustion zone upwards and a, the reservoir in this area upwardly releasing position.
- an adjustable cover element which is adjustable between one, the reservoir in the combustion zone upwards and a, the reservoir in this area upwardly releasing position.
- a filling opening for filling liquid fuel is provided in the reservoir, which is closable by a closure element.
- the closure element is preferably designed as a sliding element and can therefore simply be pushed over it to close the filling opening. Accordingly, in order to open the filling opening, the closure element must also be displaced, specifically in the direction of the combustion zone, so that opening of the closure element is possible only when the combustion zone is closed.
- This embodiment ensures that a filling of liquid fuel into the filling opening of the reservoir is only possible if the combustion zone of the firing device is covered. In this way it can be avoided that a dangerous refilling of liquid fuel into the reservoir during operation of the firing device, combined with the prevailing fire hazards, is possible.
- At least the following positions of the closure element or of the cover element are possible: An open combustion zone with simultaneously closed filling opening, an open Filling opening at the same time closed combustion zone and a closed combustion zone with simultaneously closed filling opening, which usually represents the non-use state of the firing device.
- a firing device 1 according to the invention has a substantially L-shaped configuration and is designed as a so-called "wall fire".
- a fire device 1 designed in this way can be fastened to a wall, to which end on a side of the leg 2 facing the wall, holding devices 3 (cf. Fig. 2 ) are provided.
- a reservoir 5 is provided for liquid fuel (see. Fig. 2 , Sectional view BB and Fig. 3a ).
- the firing device 1 can be operated.
- a liquid fuel here is particularly ethanol into consideration, which burns soot and odorless and thereby an application of the firing device 1 according to the invention in closed areas, that is, in particular without fireplace, allows.
- capillary-active metal element 7 In order to be able to transport the liquid fuel from the storage container 5 to a combustion zone 6 of the firing device 1, at least one capillary-active metal element 7 is provided according to the invention (cf. Fig. 2 and 4 ).
- a capillary-active metal element 7 can be provided in particular a metallic fiberboard or a metal foam, both of which have a relatively high Kapillarporenanteil or a capillary active structure and thereby allow up transporting the stored in the reservoir 5 liquid fuel into the combustion zone 6 of the firing device 1 easily.
- the capillary-active metal element 7 provided according to the invention offers the great advantage that it does not wear off or only marginally during operation of the firing device 1 and thereby preferably remains in a fully functional state over the entire service life of the firing device 1.
- the firing device 1 drawn with an L-shaped configuration can of course also have a different shape, since the idea of the invention lies in the use of a capillary-active metal element 7 and is independent of the external shape of the firing device 1.
- a housing of the firing device 1 is for example made of metal, in particular of frosted, polished and / or painted metal.
- sectional view BB in Fig. 2 it can be seen that there are a total of three substantially vertically arranged and formed as fiberboard or metal foams metal elements 7 are provided, which protrude with an upper end portion of the liquid fuel, while they are in contact with the liquid fuel with their respective lower end portions. Between the individual metal elements 7 and a housing of the reservoir 5 spacer elements 8 are arranged, which cause a positional fixation of the individual metal elements 7 to each other and to the housing of the reservoir 5.
- the arrangement of a plurality of substantially parallel arranged metal elements 7, thereby causing a particularly uniform and perceived by the user of the firing device 1 as pleasant flame image.
- any arbitrary relative position of the metal elements 7 to each other and to the firing device may be seen that there are a total of three substantially vertically arranged and formed as fiberboard or metal foams metal elements 7 are provided, which protrude with an upper end portion of the liquid fuel, while they are in contact with the liquid fuel with their respective lower end portions.
- spacer elements 8 are arranged, which cause a
- the firing device 1 In order to be able to easily extinguish a flame in the combustion zone 6 after use of the firing device 1, the firing device 1 an adjustable cover member 9 which is adjustable at least between two different positions, wherein it closes the reservoir 5 in a first position in the combustion zone 6 upwards while it releases the reservoir 5 in a second position in this area upwards.
- the storage container 5 with the liquid fuel stored therein is preferably tightly closed in the non-use state of the firing device 1, so that undesired volatilization, that is, in particular evaporation, of the liquid fuel can be avoided.
- this is a reliable closure of the reservoir 5 against unwanted access, for example, by children, possible.
- a filling opening 10 Adjacent to the adjustable cover 9 is a filling opening 10 (see. Fig. 4 ), through which liquid fuel can be filled into the reservoir 5.
- this filling opening 10 is closed by a closure element 11, which also undesired evaporation of the liquid fuel is to be prevented.
- the closure element 11 and the cover 9 are formed as two separately prepared elements, wherein the closure member 11 must be moved to open the filler opening 10 to the right that the reservoir 5 is covered in the combustion zone 6 and thus no operation of the firing device 1 during filling of the reservoir 5 is possible, whereby a safe filling of the reservoir 5 is made possible with liquid fuel.
- a filling of the reservoir 5 with liquid fuel during operation of the firing device 1 is thus safe to exclude, which in particular the risk of burns can be significantly reduced.
- the reservoir 5 for the Be liquid fuel double-walled or be used in a surrounding housing of the firing device 1 in both cases a double-walled shell of the reservoir 5 and thus a particularly high leakage protection is given.
- the reservoir 5 not only, such as in the Fig. 3a shown, extend in the region below the combustion zone 6, but it is equally conceivable that the reservoir 5 for the liquid fuel extends in the entire leg 4 of the firing device 1.
- a particular advantage of using a capillary-active metal element 7 is that it can be ignited relatively safely, since a lighter does not have to be moved into the reservoir 5, whereby the safety in handling the firing device 1 according to the invention can be increased.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a firing device which can be fired with liquid fuel, in particular with ethanol, according to the preamble of
The design of interiors, especially from a designer point of view, has been gaining in importance lately, again with design objects with special effects being highly valued by the consumer. Such effects may be, for example, optical and / or acoustic nature and in particular serve to increase the feel-good factor within the space provided with the design object. A completely new trend is set by so-called firing devices, which can be operated within closed rooms without a fireplace and which due to the fuel used, such as ethanol, generate no odor and / or Rußbelastung. Such design objects are advertised, for example, with the designation "Wandfeuer". Such a "wall fire" has - as mentioned above - a reservoir for a liquid fuel, such as ethanol, wherein the ethanol is burned odorless and noiseless during the operation of the wall fire. Since the ethanol for burning must be transported from the reservoir to a combustion zone of the firing device, wick-type constructions are known which usually function like a candle. Of great importance in such firing devices is that on the one hand they should be easy to use and on the other hand require only a small, preferably no, maintenance.
The present invention deals with the problem, for a generic firing device, an improved or at least one specify another embodiment, which is characterized in particular by ease of use and low maintenance.
This problem is solved according to the invention by the subject matter of the independent claim. Advantageous embodiments are the subject of the dependent claims.
The invention is based on the general idea, as a wick for the transport of liquid fuel from a reservoir to a combustion zone of a firing device to use a capillary active metal element, which does not wear or only insignificantly in the operation of, equipped with such a capillary active metal element firing device, and thereby has an extremely long life. In contrast to a, for example, known from a candle, wick, capillary active metal element according to the invention on the one hand on such a high capillary action that easy transport of the liquid fuel from the reservoir into the combustion zone of the firing device can be guaranteed and on the other hand, such a low or no wear, so that wear of the metal element during operation of the firing device can preferably be completely excluded and such a firing device preferably operates maintenance-free. It is thus only a rotational refill of the liquid fuel required, but this is not perceived by the user of the firing device as a disturbing maintenance.
In an advantageous development of the solution according to the invention, the capillary-active metal element is designed as a fiber plate or as a metal foam. For example, metal foams have a very low density due to the pores and voids, but have considerable rigidity and strength. Such metal foams are often made by means of metal powder and a metal hydride, such as titanium dihydride, both elements mixed together and then compacted by hot pressing or extrusion to a starting material. This starting material is then heated to a temperature above the melting point of the metal, wherein the titanium dihydride releases gaseous hydrogen and thereby foaming the mixture. Due to the porous structure, metal foams have at least sufficiently high capillary activity, which in any case is sufficient to transport the liquid fuel from the reservoir to the combustion zone of the firing device. In this context, mention should also be made of sintered metal elements with a correspondingly coarse-pored structure, as used for example in compressed air systems as a filter. Similarly, capillary active are also metallic fiberboard, in which case the packing density of the individual fibers, the fiber length, and the metal used and the remaining between the individual fibers of the fiberboard cavities decide on the capillary activity of the fiberboard and thus on the possible use in a firing device according to the invention.
In an advantageous development of the solution according to the invention, at least one, but preferably at least two parallel and substantially vertically arranged fiberboard or metal foam elements are provided, which protrude with an upper end portion of the liquid fuel, while with their respective lower end portion in contact with the liquid fuel stand. By such an arrangement of fiberboard or metal foam elements, an extremely uniform and therefore designerisch sophisticated flame image can be generated, which is interpreted by the user of the firing device according to the invention as a sign of high quality. At the same time therefore not only a single metal element is responsible for the flame, but at least two, whereby a reliable flame pattern can be guaranteed.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the solution according to the invention, the firing device has an adjustable cover element, which is adjustable between one, the reservoir in the combustion zone upwards and a, the reservoir in this area upwardly releasing position. Such a cover allows for a safe extinguishing the flame after the use of the firing device and prevents unwanted evaporation of the stored liquid in the reservoir liquid fuel, such as ethanol, while not using the firing device. In this case, the cover allows a preferably tight closure of the reservoir in the combustion zone upwards, so that in the non-use state of the firing device no escape of gaseous verflüchtigendem ethanol or liquid fuel is to be feared.
Appropriately adjacent to the adjustable cover a filling opening for filling liquid fuel is provided in the reservoir, which is closable by a closure element. In this case, the closure element is preferably designed as a sliding element and can therefore simply be pushed over it to close the filling opening. Accordingly, in order to open the filling opening, the closure element must also be displaced, specifically in the direction of the combustion zone, so that opening of the closure element is possible only when the combustion zone is closed. This embodiment ensures that a filling of liquid fuel into the filling opening of the reservoir is only possible if the combustion zone of the firing device is covered. In this way it can be avoided that a dangerous refilling of liquid fuel into the reservoir during operation of the firing device, combined with the prevailing fire hazards, is possible. In general, at least the following positions of the closure element or of the cover element are possible: An open combustion zone with simultaneously closed filling opening, an open Filling opening at the same time closed combustion zone and a closed combustion zone with simultaneously closed filling opening, which usually represents the non-use state of the firing device.
Other important features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the dependent claims, from the drawings and from the associated figure description with reference to the drawings.
It is understood that the features mentioned above and those yet to be explained below can be used not only in the particular combination given, but also in other combinations or in isolation, without departing from the scope of the present invention.
