Description

S P E C I F I C A T I O N
AN ARTICLE OF FURNITURE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates in general to articles of furniture, but more particularly to an article of furniture provided with a partially contoured casing member to provide, form and create a true body and contour on the article of furniture.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Heretofore, articles of furniture of the type which are generally formed by frame members and weaving works as applied thereon are flat, linear or angular in there general shape and appearance in that they do not define, form and create a true body and contour, true protruding portions or a silhouette effect or the desired irregularly three dimensional shape on the said prior art articles of furniture as brought about by the frame structure and arrangements thereof. Attempts to achieve the above technical effects on prior existing and conventional articles of furniture of this type were made by bending or twisting the frames as seen in various article of furniture.
The prior art shall now be explained by way of illustration as shown in figures 1 to 4 of the drawings .
Figures 1 to 4 show conventional furniture of the type where frames and weaving works are used to form the general structure and shape thereof. Figure 1 and 2 show a typically weaved chair "A" where the weaving work "a" is applied between frames "b", "c" and "d". To compensate for the linear and flat general appearance of the chair "A", the frames "c" and wd" are bended to form a contour and body. Similarly, figures 3 and 4 show another conventional typically weaved stool "B" formed by frames "e" and substantially bended vertical frames "f". Weaving work g" is applied between the frames "e" and "f" and with the "f" substantially bended outwardly. The bending of the frames, particularly frames λVc" and Nxd" of prior art "A" and frame "f" of prior art "B" are made to simulate an irregular shape and try to create body, silhouette and contour to the over all appearance of the article of furniture.
However, such bending or twisting of the frames of the aforementioned prior art examples do not define, form and create a true body and contour, true protruding portions or a silhouette effect or the desired irregularly three dimensional shape on the article of furniture. The bending or twisting of frames and the subsequent application weaving works in-between bended or twisted frames do not solve the technical problem of providing a true body and contour, a silhouette effect or the desired irregularly three dimensional shape on the article of furniture. Instead a linear or angular and flat appearance or contour of the article of furniture is still maintained.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
To overcome the aforementioned technical problem of existing article of furniture as previously discussed, it is the main object of the present invention to provide for an article of furniture comprising a furniture body being internally supported by a plurality of interconnected frame members defining spaced portions formed between said frame members; a rigid casing member being provided to partially cover said furniture body, said rigid casing member being secured to said frame members and protruding over said frame members and said spaced portions, said casing member defining partially, the profile, contour and external shape of said furniture body in a manner that is independent and different from the profile, contour and shape initially defined by said frame members and spaced portions; means to secure said casing member to said frame members; at least a first weaving work being provided over and secured to the external surface of said casing member to cover and define the outer texture to said casing member; and a second weaving work being provided over frame members and spaced portions which are exposed and not covered by said casing member.
Another object of the present invention having casing member secured on article furniture to further rigidity to the whole furniture structure. These and other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent upon a reading of the ensuing detailed description taken in conjunction with the appended drawings.
