Abstract

There is disclosed a novel method of making reinforced part of woven furniture wherein the metallic frame is prepared and a plastic cladding is fixedly secured on every top surface of the metallic frame. A layer of woven structure is layed on secured on this cladding. The resulting product is reinforced part of various woven furniture which could be used as arm rest, table top, legs and other parts.

Description

S P E C I F I C A T I O N
REINFORCED PART OF WOVEN FURNITURE AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
This invention relates in general to a method of making reinforced parts of woven furnitures.
Woven furnitures, such as chairs, tables, sofa and the like are first prepared by making a skeletal frame usually made of wood, rattan, bamboo or similar items. Cords of rattan, bamboo and the like are woven on this skeletal frame and thus making the woven furniture. However, the skeletal frame is prone to deterioration due to the forces of nature and exhibits cracks after a short period of time.
Others used metallic skeletal frames and then the rattan cords are woven thereon.
However, such practice tends to make the furniture less elegant since portions of the metallic skeletal frames are exposed.
It is therefore the primary object of the present invention to provide a reinforced part of woven furnitures wherein plastic claddings are fixedly secured over the metallic skeletal frames before the rattan cords are placed thereon, not only to conceal the metallic skeletal frames but also to rigidify the hold of the frames on the rattan cords. Still an object is to provide a reinforced part of woven furniture wherein the rattan cords are pre-woven so that a layer of woven rattan are fixedly secured on the metallic skeletal frames.
Another object is to provide a reinforced part of woven furniture as described above that is durable, long lasting and aesthetic in appearance.
These and other objects and advantages of my invention will become apparent from consideration of the ensuing detailed description taken in conjunction with the drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a woven furniture incorporating the inventive concept; and
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken along line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Referring now to the several views of the drawings, wherein like reference numerals designate same parts throughout, there is shown my invention of a reinforced parts of woven furnitures generally designated as 10.
A metallic frame 11 is prepared first which form the seat, back rest, table top, arm rest, legs etcetera of various woven furniture. The metallic frame 11 is preferably tubular and usually made from steel or aluminum.
A semi-circular plastic claddings 12 are fixedly secured over the upper surface of end members 15 said metallic frame structure 11 either by bolting, riveting, nailing or gluing. Said plastic claddings 12 have ribbed upper surfaces 13 for proper strength. Then, a layer of woven structure 14 is fixedly mounted over the metallic frame 11 and the plastic claddings 12. Said woven structure 14 is preferably made of rattan, cords, bamboo cord plastic cords, and the like.
The layer of woven structure 14 is retained either by bolting, riveting, nailing or gluing, over the plastic cladding and the metallic frame structure 11.
The resulting product are reinforced parts of various woven furnitures and are connected in any conventional manner for making various woven furnitures.

Claims

I CLAIM:
1. A method of making reinforced parts of woven furnitures comprising the steps of : preparing a metallic tubular frame; fixedly securing semi-circular plastic claddings over the upper surfaces of each members of said metallic tubular frame structure; and fixedly mounting a layer of woven structure over the semicircular plastic cladding and the metallic tubular frame.
2. A method of making reinforced parts of woven furnitures wherein said semi-circular plastic claddings having ribbed upper surface.
3. A reinforced part of woven furnitures whenever made by the process of claim 1 or 2
