Abstract

The present invention relates to hinge bearings (3) used in the doors (7) of cooling devices (1). The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooling device (1) comprising a hinge bearing (3) which is easy to produce and inexpensive and at the same time resistant to pressures of variable strengths that occur during filling the inside of the cooling device (1) door (7) with insulation material.

Description

Description A COOLING DEVICE
[0001] The present invention relates to a cooling device wherein the insulation materials such as polyurethane and the like are prevented from jutting out.
[0002] In doors of the cooling devices materials such as polyurethane are used for insulation between the exterior surface and the interior surface. The insulation of the cooling device thus the performance will be that much higher depending on how well this area between the exterior and the interior surfaces of the door is filled with insulation materials such as polyurethane, leaving a minimum cavity. Therefore these materials are injected with pressure inside the door to fill the entirety of the cavity in the door.
[0003] However, there is no support point to prevent detachment of the hinge bearing (Y) seated in the housing arranged on the door (K) for particularly securing the door (K) to the cabinet with hinges (Figure 2). Therefore from time to time it is displaced, not being able to resist the pressure of polyurethane and thus the polyurethane juts out from this point and causes damage in the cooling device door, resulting in increased costs and delay in production.
[0004] In state of the art, styropor or rubber plugs are fitted into the portion of the housing remaining inside the door wherein the hinge bearing is disposed, to prevent the bearing from dislocation. However, these plugs sometimes are displaced and the polyurethane juts out. Using this kind of plugs moreover increases production time and costs.
[0005] In state of the art United States of America Patent Document No US4955675, hinge bearings are described that are mounted in cylindrical openings. These hinge bearings are mounted in the openings by means of the included hinge pins thereof, from the exterior towards the interior of the door filled with insulation material.
[0006] In another state of the art United States of America Patent Document No
US3065035, a hinge bearing is explained that has metal plates at the sides for preventing the upward motion.
[0007] However, the hinge bearings explained in states of the art do not have the sufficient durability in cases wherein polyurethane exerts excessive pressure. In excessively pressurized conditions, the bearing may be displaced and may cause the insulation materials such as polyurethane and the like jut out of the cooling device door.
[0008] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooling device comprising a hinge bearing that is resistant to pressures of different intensities exerted during foaming the inside of the door with insulation material.
[0009] The cooling device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is explicated in the claims. In the cooling device of the present invention, the door is secured to the cabinet of the cooling device by a hinge. The shaft of the hinge disposed on the cabinet is seated in the housings situated on the door and thus provides the door to move pivotally around the shaft. [0010] Housings are provided on the door wherein the shaft will be seated. A hinge bearing is placed in these housings, having preferably in the form of a cylindrical body with one base being open. The body has a protrusion on its end near the closed base. The hinge bearing, contrary to state of the art, is fitted to the housing on the door from the side filled with polyurethane, not from the exterior of the door. The remaining portion of body is inserted entirely into the housing while the protrusion with a bigger diameter than the housing stays outside the housing and is seated on the inner surface of the door encircling the housing. Thus when the inside of the door is filled with polyurethane, the pressure exerted by polyurethane on the hinge bearing's base is counterbalanced by the protrusion and the inner surface of the door whereon the protrusion bears. Therefore the protrusion prevents the movement of the hinge bearing outwards the door. Since the protrusion has a bigger diameter than the housing, the hinge bearing cannot go through the housing and project out of the door in spite of the pressure exerted by polyurethane and polyurethane does not jut out of the inner volume of the door.
[0011] On the sides of the open base of the body, lugs are provided that lock the hinge bearing to the door. The lugs prevent the movement of the hinge bearing towards the inside of the door. The lugs have an inclined form that does not prevent the hinge bearing to be seated in the housing, but once seated does not allow detachment from the housing. When the hinge bearing is seated in the housing, the end of the bearing containing the lugs project out from the housing and are seated on the edges of the housing at the outer side of the door, preventing the bearing to fall inside the door.
[0012] In another embodiment of the present invention, ribs are provided on the lateral surfaces of the body. These ribs prevent the motion of hinge bearing due to motion of door.

[0021] The cooling device (1) of the present invention comprises:
- a cabin wherein items to be cooled are placed,
- a door (7) disposed on the cabin, providing access inside the cabin from the outside, filled inside (P) with insulation material,
- at least one shaft (9) situated on the cabin, for securing the door (7) on the cabin to be selectively opened or closed, by forming the pivotal axis thereof,
- at least one housing (8) situated on the door (7) and extending towards inside the door (7),
- at least one hinge bearing (3) placed in the housing (8) wherein the shaft (9) is inserted (Figure 1, Figure 3).
[0022] The hinge bearing (3) is mounted to the housing (8) from the inner side of the door
(7) before the insulation material is filled into the door (7) (Figure 3). [0023] The hinge bearing (3) comprises:
- a body (2) that is seated inside the housing (8),
- a lug (4) disposed on the body (2), preventing the housing (8) from falling inside the door (7) by being seated on the orifice thereof that opens to the outside the door (7),
- a protrusion (5) arranged on the body (2), being larger than the housing (8) such that it does not fit in the orifice of the housing (8) that opens to the inner side (P) of the door (7) that will be filled with insulation material later on and preventing the housing (8) from projecting out of the door (7) by bearing on the edges thereof at the inner side (P) of the door (7).
[0024] In an embodiment of the invention, the body (2) is in the form of a cylinder with an open base. The lug (4), on the sides of the open base, projects from the lateral sides towards outside of the body (2) (Figures 4, 5). The lug (4) sits on the orifice of the housing (8) opening to the outside the door (7) and prevents the hinge bearing (3) from falling to the interior portion of the door (7) that will be filled with insulation material. The protrusion (5) is arranged on the sides of the closed base of the body (2) and large enough not to fit in the housing (8) wherein the hinge bearing (3) will be mounted. Thus, no matter what kind of a pressure is exerted from inside the door (7), as the protrusion (5) is seated on the orifice of the housing (8) facing the interior of the door (7) filled with insulation material, the housing (8) is prevented from being released towards outside of the door (7). Since the protrusion (5) is larger than the orifice of the housing (8) facing the interior (P) of the door (7) filled with insulation material, it will not fit in the housing (8) even when a pressure is exerted by polyurethane or other insulation material and will prevent the bearing (3) from being displaced out of the door (7) and thus will prevent insulation material from jutting out (Figure 4).
[0025] In an embodiment of the invention, the hinge bearing (3) comprises at least one rib (6) arranged to make a projection on the lateral side of the cylindrically shaped body (2) (Figure 6). While the shaft (9) rotates in the hinge bearing (3) the rib (6) provides friction with the walls of the housing (8) and prevents the rotation of bearing (3) inside the housing (8).
[0026] The hinge bearing (3), contrary to state of the art, is fitted to the housing (8) on the door (7) from the side to be filled with polyurethane, not from the exterior of the door (7). The lugs (4) are configured to be inclined form providing to be inserted into the housing (8) but not allowing detachment therefrom. When the hinge bearing (3) is placed in the housing (8), the lugs (4) are seated on the orifice of the housing (8) facing the outside and prevent the bearing (3) from falling inside the door (7) filled with the insulation material.
[0027] In the cooling device (1) of the invention, the production of the hinge bearing (3) is simple and inexpensive. The bearing (3), is ensured not to be detached from place and also the use of additional elements such as styropor, plugs etc. are not required.

Claims
[0001] A cooling device (1) comprising - a cabin wherein items to be cooled are placed,
- a door (7) disposed over the cabin, providing access inside the cabin from the outside, filled inside (P) with insulation material, - at least one shaft (9) situated on the cabin, for securing the door (7) on the cabin to be selectively opened or closed, by forming the pivotal axis thereof, - at least one housing (8) situated on the door (7) and extending towards inside (P) the door (7), and - at least one hinge bearing (3) placed in the housing (8) wherein the shaft (9) is inserted, and characterized by a hinge bearing (3) having - a body (2) that is seated inside the housing (8), - a lug (4) disposed on the body (2), preventing the housing (8) from falling inside the door (7) by being seated on the orifice thereof that opens to the outside the door (7), - a protrusion (5) arranged on the body (2), being larger than the housing (8) such that it does not fit in the orifice of the housing (8) that opens to the inner side (P) of the door (7) that will be filled with insulation material later on and preventing the housing (8) from projecting out of the door (7) by bearing on the edges thereof at the inner side (P) of the door (7).
[0002] A cooling device (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by comprising the body (2) in the form of a cylinder with an open base and the lug (4) that projects out from the sides of the open base towards outside of the body (2).
[0003] A cooling device (1) as in Claim 1 or 2, characterized by the hinge bearing (3) comprising the cylinder shaped body (2) and at least one rib (6) arranged to make a projection on the lateral side of the body (2), providing friction with the walls of the housing (8) while the shaft (9) rotates in the hinge bearing (3) to prevent thereof from rotating.
