  • the partition walls dividing the receptacle into more than two compartments need not be parallel to one another. Alternatively, two or more receptacles may be combined with partition walls dividing one or more of the receptacles into compartments.
  • the concept of a pack with two separately accessible compartments can also be applied to packs that do not include a large tray portion. If the main face of the tray portion is scaled down in height, the tray portion becomes more like a lid that closes over the aperture. While a smaller main face may be less useful as regards providing a surface for rolling cigarettes, the reduced tray portion/lid can still provide a useful surface for receiving tobacco that has been extracted from the receptacle. This is especially true of embodiments in which the tray portion/lid includes side faces (and possibly also a bottom face), the tray portion thereby acting as an open container that confines and retains tobacco to reduce spills and which also gives easy access to the extracted tobacco for the smoker seeking to assemble a desired quantity of tobacco for making a cigarette. Also, a tray portion having reduced size will still act to neatly return unused tobacco to the inside of the receptacle when it is moved to the closed position.
  • a small tray portion/lid of this type can have any of the configurations discussed above for larger trays, e.g. designed to cover an aperture in the bottom face of the receptacle or in the front face, and with or without side faces.
  • it may be configured more like a conventional cigarette pack lid, like the lid portion 40 shown in Figures 1A and 1B , where the hinge line is located on a face of the pack receptacle rather than along an edge.
  • a pack may have a hinged lid at each end, where one lid gives access to a first compartment of the receptacle that contains tobacco, this compartment being accessible from this end of the pack only, and the other lid gives access to a second compartment of the receptacle for holding pre-rolled cigarettes, papers, matches, etc, which is only accessible from that end of the pack.
  • Each compartment can thereby be accessed individually while the contents of the other compartment are retained safely.
  • Each lid may have any desired configuration, including reduced size versions of any of the example tray portions described above, conventional flip-up cigarette pack lids, or other arrangements.

  • the bottom lid 112 is thus similar to the tray portion 14 of the embodiment of Figures 1A and 1B , but having a much reduced height so that it functions substantially as a lid to close the rear compartment of the receptacle 12, without offering much or any tray functionality.
  • the pack 110 further includes a top lid 116 that is connected to the receptacle 12 along a hinge line running across the width of the receptacle part way down the rear wall, and comprises a top wall, side walls and a front wall similar to a conventional cigarette pack lid.

Claims (19)

  1. Verpackung für Tabak, umfassend:
    ein parallelflaches Behältnis (12) zur Aufnahme von Tabak (24), wobei das Behältnis (12) eine Höhe, Breite und Tiefe aufweist, wobei die Höhe und die Breite größer als die Tiefe sind und das Behältnis (12) aufweist:
    eine Stirnfläche (16), die sich der Höhe des Behältnisses (12) erstreckt, wobei sich obere und untere Endflächen der Tiefe des Behältnisses (12) erstrecken;
    eine Scharnierlinie (26), die entlang einer Breite des Behältnisses (12) verläuft; und
    eine Öffnung (22) in einer Fläche des Behältnisses (12), durch die Zugang zu einem Fach erhalten wird, wobei die Öffnung (22) eine Kante aufweist, die durch die Scharnierlinie (26) definiert wird; und
    ein Tablettteil (14), das zumindest eine Hauptfläche (28) umfasst, die eine Breite, die im Wesentlichen der Breite des Behältnisses (12) entspricht und eine Höhe aufweist, wobei der Tablettteil (14) mit dem Behältnis (12) durch die Scharnierlinie (26) verbunden ist und der Tablettteil (14) um die Scharnierlinie (26) zwischen einer geschlossenen Position, in welcher der Tablettteil (14) die Öffnung (22) abdeckt, um Zugang zu besagtem Fach zu verhindern und die Hauptfläche (28) eine Stirnfläche (16) des Behältnisses (12) überlagert, welche die Höhe und Breite des Behältnisses (12) hat, und einer offenen Position schwenkbar ist, in der Tabak (24) aus besagtem Fach durch die Öffnung (22) ausgegeben werden kann, gekennzeichnet durch eine Trennwand (34) innerhalb des Behältnisses (12) parallel zur Stirnfläche (16) und die Innenseite des Behältnisses (12) in ein vorderes Fach und ein hinteres Fach teilend, wobei jedes Fach angepasst ist, Tabak (24) getrennt durch besagte Trennwand (34) zu empfangen und ein Deckelteil (40) mit dem Behältnis (12) durch eine zweite Scharnierlinie verbunden ist, wobei besagter Deckelteil (40) die obere Endfläche des Behältnisses (12) bildet und um besagte zweite Scharnierlinie in eine offene Position schwenkbar ist, um zu ermöglichen Zugang zu besagtem anderen Fach zu erhalten.
  2. Verpackung nach Anspruch 1, wobei der Tablettteil (14) eine Höhe aufweist, die zumindest die halbe Höhe des Behältnisses (12) ist.
  3. Verpackung nach Anspruch 1 oder Anspruch 2, wobei der Tablettteil (14) weiter zwei Tablettteil-Seitenflächen (32) umfasst, wobei jede eine Höhe aufweist, die im Wesentlichen der Höhe der Hauptfläche (28) entspricht und eine Tiefe aufweist, die nicht größer als die Tiefe des Behältnisses (12) ist und mit der Hauptfläche (28) so verbunden ist, dass, wenn sich der Tablettteil (14) in der geschlossenen Position befindet, die Seitenflächen (32) Seitenflächen des Behältnisses (12) überlagern, welche die Höhe und Tiefe des Behältnisses (12) haben.
  4. Verpackung nach einem beliebigen der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, wobei sich die Öffnung (22) in der Stirnfläche (16) des Behältnisses (12) befindet.
  5. Verpackung nach einem beliebigen der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, wobei sich die Öffnung (22) in einer Basisfläche (20) des Behältnisses (12) befindet, wobei die Basisfläche (20) die Breite und Tiefe des Behältnisses (12) aufweist und der Tablettteil (14) weiter eine Tablettteil-Basisfläche (30) mit einer Breite und Tiefe umfasst, die im Wesentlichen der Breite und Tiefe des Behältnisses (12) entspricht und die mit der Scharnierlinie (26) verbunden ist und mit der Hauptfläche (28) so verbunden ist, dass, wenn sich der Tablettteil (14) in der geschlossenen Position befindet, die Tablettteil-Basisfläche (30) die untere Fläche (20) des Behältnisses (12) überlagert.
  6. Verpackung nach einem beliebigen der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, wobei die Höhe des Behältnisses (12) größer als die Breite des Behältnisses (12) ist.
  7. Verpackung nach einem beliebigen vorhergehenden Anspruch, wobei der Deckelteil (40) eine Deckelteilstirnfläche (44) umfasst, die mit der Oberfläche des Behältnisses (12) verbunden ist, wobei die Deckelteilstirnfläche (44) die Stirnfläche (16) des Behältnisses (12) überlagert, wenn sich der Deckelteil (40) in der geschlossenen Position befindet.
  8. Verpackung nach Anspruch 7, wobei die Deckelteilstirnfläche (44) so eine Höhe aufweist, dass die Höhe der Deckelteilstirnfläche (44) und die Höhe der Hauptfläche (28) des Tablettteils (14) zusammen im Wesentlichen der Höhe des Behältnisses (12) entsprechen.
  9. Verpackung nach Anspruch 7, wobei die Deckelteilstirnfläche (44) so eine Höhe aufweist, dass sie einen oberen Teil der Hauptfläche (28) des Tablettteils (14) überlappt, wenn sich der Deckelteil (40) und der Tablettteil (14) beide in ihren geschlossenen Positionen befinden.
  10. Verpackung nach einem beliebigen vorhergehenden Anspruch, wobei sich die zweite Scharnierlinie in einer hinteren Fläche des Behältnisses (12) gegenüber der Stirnfläche befindet und parallel zu einer Breitenkante der hinteren Fläche angeordnet ist.
  11. Verpackung nach Anspruch 1, wobei das hintere Fach eine Tiefe aufweist und eine Höhe und eine Breite im Wesentlichen der Höhe und der Breite des vorderen Fachs (35) entsprechen, wobei das hintere Fach hinter dem vorderen Fach so angeordnet ist, dass eine hintere Fläche des besagten vorderen Fachs, das die Höhe und Breite des besagten Behältnisses (12) aufweist, mit einer Stirnfläche des hinteren Fachs gemeinsam ist, das die Höhe und Breite des besagten Behältnisses aufweist, wobei das hintere Fach der Aufnahme handgerollter Zigaretten dient.
  12. Verpackung nach Anspruch 11, wobei sich die Öffnung (22) in einer Basisfläche (20) des Behältnisses (12) befindet, wobei die Basisfläche (20) die Breite und Tiefe des besagten Behältnisses (12) aufweist und der Tablettteil (14) weiter eine Tablettteil-Basisfläche (30) mit einer Breite und Tiefe umfasst, die im Wesentlichen der Breite und Tiefe des Behältnisses (12) entspricht und die mit der Scharnierlinie (26) verbunden ist und mit der Hauptfläche (28) so verbunden ist, dass, wenn sich der Tablettteil (14) in der geschlossenen Position befindet, die Tablettteil-Basisfläche (30) die untere Fläche (20) des Behältnisses (12) überlagert.
  13. Verpackung nach Anspruch 12, wobei der Tablettteil (14) weiter zwei Tablettteil-Seitenflächen (32) umfasst, wobei jede eine Höhe aufweist, die im Wesentlichen der Höhe der Hauptfläche (28) entspricht und eine Tiefe aufweist, die nicht größer als die Tiefe des Behältnisses (12) ist und mit der Hauptfläche (28) so verbunden ist, dass, wenn sich der Tablettteil (14) in der geschlossenen Position befindet, die Seitenflächen (32) Seitenflächen (18) des Behältnisses (12) überlagern, welche die Höhe und Tiefe des Behältnisses (12) haben.
  14. Verpackung nach einem beliebigen vorhergehenden Anspruch, wobei die offene Position des Deckelteils (40) keinen Zugang zum Innenraum des hinteren Fachs verschafft.
  15. Verpackung nach Anspruch 3 oder Anspruch 13 oder einem beliebigen vom Anspruch 3 oder Anspruch 13 abhängigen Anspruch, die eine oder mehrere Ansätze (102), die sich von der Stirnfläche (16) des Behältnisses (12) in der Breitenrichtung erstrecken und einen oder mehrere entsprechende Schlitze (104) im Tablettteil (14) umfassen, die so positioniert sind, dass sich der eine Ansatz oder mehrere Ansätze (102) durch den einen Schlitz oder mehrere Schlitze (104) erstrecken können, wenn sich der Tablettteil (14) in der geschlossenen Position befindet, wodurch der Tablettteil (14) in der geschlossenen Position festgehalten wird.
  16. Verpackung für Tabak, umfassend:
    ein parallelflaches Behältnis (12) mit einem ersten Ende und einem zweiten Ende;
    eine Trennwand (34), die sich innen im Behältnis (12) befindet und einen ersten Scharnierdeckel (116) am ersten Ende des Behältnisses (12), der zwischen einer offenen Position, in der Zugang zum Innenraum des ersten Fachs möglich ist, und einer geschlossenen Position schwenkbar ist, in der Zugang zum Innenraum des ersten Fachs nicht möglich ist, und
    einen zweiten Scharnierdeckel (112) am zweiten Ende des Behältnisses, der zwischen einer offenen Position, in der Zugang zum Innenraum des zweiten Fachs möglich ist und einer geschlossenen Position schwenkbar ist, in der Zugang zum Innenraum des zweiten Fachs nicht möglich ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sich die Trennwand (34) zwischen besagten ersten und zweiten Enden erstreckt und den Innenraum des Behältnisses (12) in ein erstes Fach, das am ersten Ende des Behältnisses (12) offen und am zweiten Ende des Behältnisses (12) geschlossen ist und ein zweites Fach teilt, das am zweiten Ende des Behältnisses (12) offen ist und am ersten Ende des Behältnisses (12) geschlossen ist.
  17. Verpackung für Tabak nach Anspruch 16, wobei das erste Fach der Aufnahme von Tabak (24) dient und das zweite Fach der Aufnahme von handgerollten Zigaretten dient.
  18. Verpackung für Tabak nach Anspruch 16 oder Anspruch 17, wobei das Behältnis (12) Höhe, Breite und Tiefe aufweist, wobei die Höhe und die Breite größer als die Tiefe sind, das Behältnis (12) eine Stirnfläche (16), eine hintere Fläche und zwei Seitenflächen (18) aufweist, die sich jeweils zwischen dem ersten Ende und dem zweiten Ende erstrecken, wobei die Stirnfläche (16) und die hintere Fläche Höhe und Breite aufweisen und die Trennwand (34) parallel zur Stirnfläche (16) und zur hinteren Fläche angeordnet ist.
  19. Verpackung für Tabak nach einem beliebigen der Ansprüche 16 bis 18, wobei einer oder beide der Scharnierdeckel (112, 116) mit einer Verschlussanordnung versehen ist bzw. sind, um ihn bzw. sie lösbar in seiner bzw. ihrer geschlossenen Position zu halten.
