The lower surface of the paper web is brought towards the blades and is removed by the blades. The coating mass is applied in a uniformly distributed manner and is supplied by an inlet gate of the paper web. An independent claim is included for an impregnation device for producing overlays for laminates.

Description

The invention relates to a method for producing a scrub-resistant overlay, in particular for laminates.

Ein hierauf gerichtetes Verfahren offenbart beispielsweise die EP 0 875 399 A2 .In the field of the production of floor laminates, overlay papers are used whose purpose is to produce a highly transparent and at the same time very hard-wearing surface on the actual decorative layer. Durability has hitherto been understood as meaning high chemical resistance and water resistance of the surface, and also the ability to counteract mechanical wear and, above all, to prevent damage to the decorative layer. A method directed thereto discloses, for example, the EP 0 875 399 A2 ,

The former is achieved through the use of melamine-formaldehyde resins, which provide a compact resistant surface by compression and resin condensation. The mechanical resistance is enhanced by the incorporation of hard particles such as e.g. Corundum granules secured in the resin matrix.

The surface of the finished laminate is produced by molding the pressure plate surface in the compression. To prevent damage to the press plate by corundum in the overlay during the pressing process, this is covered by a pulp layer.

Today, such overlays are mainly produced by the liquid overlay method in which the amount of corundum (hereinafter referred to as coarse corundum) necessary for achieving the abrasion-resistant properties is obtained by rinsing and metering a resin coarse corundum dispersion onto an overlay base paper ,

The prior art is a method in which an overlay base paper, usually with a basis weight of 25-35 g / m 2 , is unwound from a roll. On this paper web, a resin solution is then applied on one side by means of a scoop roller in the first step, so that the cellulose fibers of the paper can be filled with the resin solution and as much air as possible is replaced with resin from the fiber capillaries.

Subsequently, the paper is guided by deflection rollers over a longer "breathing distance", in which the paper web swells due to the moisture absorption, then the web is passed through a second resin pan, is received in the further resin in the paper structure.

After this so-called impregnation of the paper web in the core, the paper web, now saturated with resin solution, is passed between two metering rolls which form a gap of defined width and thus control the application weight of the resin solution on the paper web.

In the next process step, a resin coarse corundum dispersion is applied to the already resin-impregnated paper web on one side, the application weight of which is then determined and adjusted by means of a further nip.

According to the previously known method, the paper web thus treated and provided with coarse corundum on one side was dried to a defined residual moisture content in a drying tunnel designed as a floating dryer.

If the overlay, in addition to its function as a transparent and abrasion-resistant cover layer in the laminate floor, obtains further surface properties (eg abrasion resistance of the surface), it is provided according to the methods hitherto known from the prior art that an appropriate additive is added "in bulk" becomes. This means, that the complete amount of resin must undergo a modification as part of the core impregnation. However, this has the disadvantage that an additive which is intended to exert its effect only on the surface must be used in large quantities in the core resin for effect development, with the result that this leads to a considerable increase in the cost of the overlay to be produced.

Alternatively, in the previously known methods, the paper web fed to the drying device is provided in its partly dried state with an additional top-side application in such a way that the partially dried web gets an additional top-side application via a coating unit in the middle of the drying device present in the form of a drying channel. The application unit can be, for example, an anilox roller or a squeegee device. The application of the latter method on the anilox roller is usually at the expense of production speed. It has also been shown that the anilox roller application is only possible with an already partially dried web and a wet-on-wet application can not be accomplished by this method.

Based on the disadvantages presented and in appreciation of the cited prior art method of the type mentioned above, the present invention therefore has for its object to provide a method in which by another unilateral wet-on-wet application step additives on the surface can be applied, which give the overlay more important properties.

This object is achieved by the invention by a method according to claim 1.

Advantageous embodiments of the invention manifest themselves in the subclaims.

According to the invention takes place - for example after the impregnation of the paper web and one-sided application of the resin coarse corundum dispersion - a wet-on-wet application of a resin fine corundum dispersion and dosage thereof on the opposite side of the paper web. In place of the resin fine corundum dispersion, any other resin additive dispersion can be applied to achieve a certain effect in the surface.

Die dosierte Menge hängt von der Rakeloberfläche, der Rotationsrichtung und - geschwindigkeit ab.The wet-on-wet application and metering of the resin additive dispersion is achieved by passing the resin additive dispersion under sufficient pressure into the nip between doctor blades and applying it to the paper web. The dosage of the introduced dispersion takes place via a rotating squeegee, which can be designed as a plain or wire squeegee and which can rotate both counter-rotating or the same direction. The metered amount depends on the doctor blade surface, the direction of rotation and the speed.

A uniform concern of the paper web and thus a uniform application of the resin additive dispersion are achieved by a slight pressing of the paper web on the doctor, which is controlled by the strength of the wrap of the applicator.

By means of a doctor blade on which the method according to the invention is based, it is ensured that small application quantities of a coating composition can be applied uniformly on one side wet-on-wet. In addition, a great advantage of the invention is the fact that the entire drying device is available for efficient paper web drying.

The wet-on-wet application also ensures that there are no interfaces between the already applied resin and the new application layer can arise as they can occur when applied to a partially dried resin surface.

An embodiment of the invention will be explained below with reference to the figures. In a schematic representation:
Fig. 1

Fig. 2
a view of the application and dosage of the coating composition according to the invention.

That in the FIG. 1 schematically illustrated method 100 is used for the production of resin-impregnated papers, which should also be equipped with certain functionalities. In the embodiment shown here, the method 100 is used in particular for producing abrasion-resistant overlays of laminate floors.

The method 100 begins with the processing of a so-called overlay base paper from a role, not shown here. The paper web 10 is then pressed by the rollers 11 on the Anfeuchtwalze 12, which from the first resin pan 13 which applies the impregnating agent 14 in the form of a resin to the paper web 10 on one side.

The single-sided coated paper web 10 is then guided by means of the guide rollers 17 and can swell in this time by moisture and resin absorption in the fiber structure of the paper.

Subsequent immersion of the paper web 10 in the second resin tub 19 further impregnating agent 18 is received in the form of resin. The amount of resin thus applied to the paper web 10 becomes controlled by the nip width of the nip 24 between the metering rollers 22 and 23.

In order to produce an abrasion-resistant overlay, the thus impregnated paper web 10 is guided in a further process step over the guide rollers 25 to a spray nozzle over which a resin coarse corundum dispersion 27 is rinsed in excess to the paper web 10. The desired application weight of the resin-corundum dispersion is then adjusted across the gap width between the metering rollers 26.
In order to obtain a scrub-resistant overlay, a coating composition 29 in the form of a fine corundum dispersion is applied as described above after application and dosing of the coarse corundum dispersion on the opposite paper side and metered via the doctor blade 32 (see also US Pat FIG. 2 ).

Subsequently, the coated paper web 10 is dried and adjusted in the residual moisture so that a well processable overlay is obtained.

The present invention is not limited in its embodiment to the above-mentioned, preferred embodiments. Rather, a number of variants are conceivable, which make use of the illustrated solution even with fundamentally different types of execution. Thus, the doctor blades 31, 32 can have different configurations. Also, other metering devices can be used as pairs of rollers. In addition, the method is not limited to the production of abrasion-resistant overlays with a top-side additive coat. Rather, the method can also be used for the production of non-abrasion-resistant overlays or other resin-impregnated papers, which should also be equipped with functionalities.
