Definitions
- the invention relates to a roller equipped with a braking system. It will find its application in an industrial environment, at the manufacturers of sports equipment, in particular the manufacturers of rollers, and will be marketed especially in the sales areas of sports equipment.
- rollers It is known in particular two types of rollers, namely in-line rollers consisting of three or four wheels arranged in line one behind the other, and rollers, more commonly called roller skate, type "quad” is that is to say consist of two transverse axes of rotation, one disposed upstream and the other downstream of the roller, each axis receiving at both ends a wheel.
- they comprise a frame consisting of a longitudinal plate on which are mounted in line the rolling systems that is to say the wheels or pairs of wheels arranged in line.
- the frame includes a foot locking device for securing it with the roller.
- This foot locking device may be, for example, consisting of a footwear element allowing either the reception of the foot or the blocking of a suitable shoe and worn at the foot of the user.
- the roller includes a plate on which wheels are mounted in line; a braking system, comprising a braking element of the shoe type, or even roller, is arranged under the plate, above at least one of the wheels, in particular at the rear.
- an actuating device consists of a rod comprising at least two parts hinged together at the level of the malleoli, along a transverse axis of pivoting, the first part enveloping at least the heel of the foot and the second part enveloping the minus the lower portion of the calf, said second portion of the rod being pivotable relative to said first portion to activate the braking system for moving vertical brake pad to bring it into contact with the rear wheel or wheels of the roller and braking them.
- a braking system presents a risk for the user, especially when the latter does not control the braking, and in particular the movement of his leg actuating said second portion of the rod which acts on said braking system. The stability of the user is then not optimal, it can tilt forward; therefore, there is a risk of falling.
- the roller comprises a plate on which are mounted in line the wheels rotating along transverse axes of rotation on the plate.
- this plate comprises a fixed part on which are mounted the three front wheels, and a movable rear portion on which is mounted the rear wheel.
- a braking system is constituted by a braking element of the pad type which is fixed to the rear end of the fixed part, the movable part is able to move relative to the fixed part, possibly by elastic deformation.
- Such a roller design can cause unwanted braking when the user involuntarily presses on the rear of the plate, or when the path on which the user patches is more or less deformed or bumpy tending to unintentionally bring the moving part of the fixed part.
- the roller comprises a plate on which are mounted in line wheels rotating along transverse axes of rotation on the plate.
- This plate comprises a fixed part on which are mounted the three front wheels and a movable part on which is mounted the rear wheel.
- a braking system is constituted by a brake element of the pad type arranged at the rear end of the fixed part of the plate to make contact on the ground when the movable part pivots and approaches the fixed part.
- an actuating device is arranged on the roller chassis to be controlled with the leg of the user.
- a triggering device is constituted by a locking pin slidably mounted in a linear light on the movable part and in a square light on the fixed part.
- the actuating device makes it possible to move the locking pin when the two lights match. According to a position of the locking pin located at a first end, concomitantly in the two lights, the fixed portion and the movable portion are locked relative to each other. On the contrary, when the actuating device acts on the locking pin to slide it towards a second end, in the angle part of the first light, the movable part can then pivot with respect to the fixed part of the plate, the locking pin then sliding only up the angle light on the first fixed part while remaining blocked at the second end of the linear light on the movable part.
- the object of the present invention implements a skate that overcomes the disadvantages of rollers having a design similar to that described in the documents US 5,478,094 and US 5,192,099 .
- the present invention also constitutes a design alternative to the roller described in FR 2,753,635 , especially with regard to the actuating device.
- the document EP 0795 348 describes a roller according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the invention relates to a roller, also called roller skate, for self-regulating braking; when the skater moves forwards, the pressure exerted on his heel decreases, thereby reducing the braking efficiency and avoiding any imbalance towards the front.
- the roller comprises a frame, at least two rolling systems each consisting of at least one wheel rotatably mounted on a transverse axis of rotation, and at least one braking element.
- the chassis comprises at least one longitudinal plate on which are mounted in line the rolling systems and a foot locking device for securing of it with the roller.
- the braking member is disposed above at least one of the rolling systems to engage and brake the same.
- the plate has two parts, one of which, said fixed, is secured to the locking device of the foot and receives the braking element, while the other part, said mobile, receives the rolling systems arranged under the braking element; when the moving part approaches the fixed part, the rolling system comes into contact with the braking element.
- the roller also comprises a device for actuating the braking element, said actuating device being arranged on the chassis to be controlled by the user, in particular with the foot or the leg, or even with the hand.
- the roller comprises a trigger device consisting of a pusher, in particular consisting of a connecting rod, and a trigger piece.
- the rod is mounted in pivot connection, on the one hand, at one of its ends with the actuating device and, on the other hand, at the other of its ends with the trigger piece.
- the triggering part consists of at least one plate-shaped part, adjacent to the rolling system, said plate being rotatably mounted transversely or in longitudinal translation with the fixed part, in particular at its rear end, and in translation with the movable part, to move from a locking position to an unlocking position under the action of the actuating device, said plate blocking the spacing between said fixed and movable parts during locking and on the contrary allowing their approximation when unlocking.
- the triggering device is able to be activated under the action of the actuating device to move from a blocking position of the plate during slippage, to a release position thereof during the braking allowing the approximation of the fixed part with the moving part to bring the rolling system into contact with the braking element.
- Such a design has the advantage of avoiding inadvertent and involuntary braking during the practice of skating.
- the pressure exerted by the weight of the skater and his inertia on the back of the roller allow the bringing the moving part closer to the fixed part and thus bringing the bearing system into contact with the braking element. The pressure is therefore greater or less depending on the weight and inertia of the skater.
- the longitudinal plate is slotted over part of its length, in particular from its rear end, so as to constitute the fixed part and the movable part, and to allow the approximation of said movable part with the fixed part by elastic deformation. of said platen.

- the braking element consists of a roller rotatably mounted along a transverse axis of rotation on the fixed part.
- the rolling system consists of a single wheel rotatably mounted on an axis of rotation; this wheel is adapted to come into contact with the roller when the moving part approaches the fixed part.
- the braking element consists of two rollers rotatably mounted along a transverse axis of rotation, the rollers being arranged on the lateral sides of the fixed part.
- the rolling system consists of two wheels rotatably mounted on an axis of rotation, said wheels being disposed on the lateral sides of the movable part. These wheels are able to come into contact with the rollers when the moving part approaches the fixed part, that is to say when the trigger device is unlocked.
- the roller is more commonly referred to as a roller skate or "quad" system.
- the actuating device consists of a rod which comprises at least two parts hinged together, particularly at the level of the malleoli, along a transverse axis of pivoting.
- the first part wraps at least the heel of the foot disposed inside a footwear element.
- the second part wraps at least the lower portion of the calf; the pivoting of the second part of the stem, by an action of the leg allowing the calf to bear on this second part, actuating the connecting rod.
- the actuating device consists of a part arranged under the front end of a footwear element constituting the foot blocking device, this actuating piece being integral with the braking system; the deformation of the footwear element makes it possible to move the workpiece, and thus to actuate the connecting rod.
- the pusher can include an electronic or automatic push rod acting directly or in combination with a connecting rod on the trigger piece.
- the actuating device is for example constituted by a control unit actuated with the foot or the hand, and triggering the electronic or automatic pusher.
- the roller 1 is equipped with a frame 3 which comprises a longitudinal plate 11.
- This longitudinal plate 11 is composed of two parts 25, 27; the first part 25 is called “fixed” in the following description, while the second part 27 is called “mobile”.

- the triggering piece 33 is disposed at the rear end 45 of the fixed part 25 of the plate, as illustrated in FIG. Figures 1 to 4 . According to the invention, it consists of at least one plate 39 of greater or lesser thickness, pivotally mounted along a transverse axis 43 with the fixed portion 25. It is however possible to design a translation assembly according to a longitudinal axis between said fixed portion 25 and said trigger piece 33.
- the plate 39 is mounted in circular translation with the movable portion 27 of the plate 11.
- the plate 39 comprises a longitudinal recess 47, preferably of circular shape
- the movable portion 27 comprises at least one axial portion transversely arranged guide means 49, this axial portion 49 being positioned inside the longitudinal recess 47.
- the trigger piece 33 preferably has the shape of a U, illustrated in FIG. figure 3 , whose two lateral sides 79a, 79b constitute two plates 39, 41 each provided with a circular longitudinal recess 47 as described above. Furthermore, these plates 39, 41 are arranged on the lateral sides of the movable portion 27 of the plate 11. In addition, the longitudinal recesses 47 of these plates 39, 41 each receive an axial guide portion 49 which, preferably and not limited to, is constituted by a portion of the axis of rotation 51 of one of the rolling systems, in particular by the ends of the axis of rotation 51 of the wheel 5a. These axial guide portions could however be independent of the axis of rotation 51, and, for example, implemented by means of inserts, such as pins, attached to the lateral sides of the movable part 27.
- the roller 1 has a design as illustrated in figure 4 , that is to say that it consists of two in-line rolling systems, each rolling system comprising two wheels 5c, 5d, 7d rotatably mounted along the axis 51, the wheels being arranged on the lateral sides of the movable part 27,
- the trigger piece 33 is, then, made of a single plate 39, of greater thickness, preferably of the order of 5 to 10 mm, arranged in central part at the rear end 45 of the stage, as illustrated in figure 4 .
- the axial guiding portion 49 is constituted by the central portion of the axis of rotation 51.
- an intermediate piece 49a mounted on the portion of the axis of rotation 51, or on an axis independent of said axis of rotation, this intermediate part 49a, illustrated in FIG. figure 4 , being engaged in the recess 47 on the plate 39.
- Such an intermediate part 49a has the function of improving the sliding of the tripping piece 33; it may be constituted for example by a sliding ring mounted idle on the axis 51, or a bearing.
- Such an intermediate part 49a can also be envisaged for the embodiments illustrated in FIGS. Figures 1 to 3 in which case two intermediate pieces will be implemented on each lateral side of the roller, at the level of the longitudinal recesses 47 on the plates 49, 51.
- the trigger piece 33 illustrated in FIGS. Figures 1 to 4 has a longitudinal recess 47 whose shape is scalable, that is to say that the radius separating the pivot axis 43 of said trigger piece 33 relative to the fixed portion 25, and the upper periphery 48 of the recess in which is housed the axial guide portion 49, is decreasing.
- This evolutionary shape of the recess 47 is preferably circular and arranged so that, in the normal slip position, the upper side 50 of the axial guide portion 49 is blocked by the upper periphery 48 of the recess 47 which is positioned on the side of its first end 53, as illustrated on the figure 2 .
- the distance between the axis of pivoting 43 and the axial portion 49, in contact on the upper periphery 48, is maximum e M , this maximum center distance e M corresponding to the unobstructed position of the wheels 5a, 7a vis-à-vis the brake roller 21a.
- the roller when the roller is in the braking position, that is to say when the rod 31 is actuated by the actuating device 28, the trigger piece 33 pivots, the axial portion 49 then being positioned on the side of the second end 55 of the recess 47, as illustrated in FIG. figure 1 , the upper side 50 of said axial portion 49 then being preferably clear of the periphery 48 of the recess, or in contact therewith.
- the center distance is minimum e m , this minimum distance e m being obtained especially when the user exerts pressure on the rear part of the plate with the foot so as to deform it to bring the moving part 27 of the fixed part 25 until the wheels 5a, 5b rolling systems 5,7 come into contact with the braking member 21a.
- This mode of operation is equivalent for the roller 1 as illustrated in figure 4 with the difference that the triggering part 33 is composed of a single plate 39 whose operating characteristics are identical to those described above and illustrated in FIGS. Figures 1 to 3 , allowing either of the two rear wheels 5c, 5d of the system to come into contact with each other rear bearing 5 with the braking rollers 21c, 21d, either to maintain spaced the movable portion 27 of the fixed portion 25 to prevent the contact of said wheels 5c, 5d with said rollers 21c, 21d.
- the center distance is defined by the distance between said longitudinal translation axis and the upper periphery 48 of the recess 47 which, according to this design mode, can have a linear shape and inclined so as to vary the distance of the maximum distance between centers M e at the minimum center distance e m , and vice versa.
- the longitudinal recess 47 may comprise different design modes. Indeed, according to a first mode of conception illustrated in figure 3 , this recess 47 is opening at the lower end of the trigger piece 33, that is to say at the lower end of the plate 39, 41. Such a recess design 47 has the function of ensure a contact of the upper side 50 of the initial portion 49 with the upper periphery 48 of said recess 47, so as to ensure the contact between these two elements in slip position, as described above, and thus avoid the connection between the movable part 27 and the fixed part 25.
- this latter is constituted by a circular-shaped light, this circular form preferably having a flared shape on the downstream side of the plate 39, 41.
- This flared circular shape makes it possible in the first place to ensure a contact on the side upper 50 of the axial portion 49 with the upper periphery 48 of said light, at its first end 53, and second, allows to introduce a vertical clearance between said upper side 50 of the axial portion 49 and said upper periphery 48, on the side of its second end 55, so as to provide a clearance between the two elements allowing, when the user exerts pressure on the heel during braking, that the deformation of the plate 11 according to which the movable portion 27 is approaching the fixed part 25 is sufficient for the wheel or wheels 5a, 7, 5c, 5d of the bearing system or systems 5, 7 come into contact with each other. on the roller or rollers 21a, 21c, 21d, that is to say it makes it possible to reach the
- this light constituting said recess 47 has the function of limiting the spacing between the movable portion 27 and the fixed portion 25 during slippage, and possibly during braking.
- the lower perimeter 52 of the light 47 is adapted to come into contact with the lower side 54 of the axial portion 49, which prevents excessive spacing between the movable portion and the fixed portion.
- the lower perimeter 52 of the light constitutes a wall comprising, preferably a circular shape, arranged to limit the spacing between the two fixed and movable parts 27, both during slippage and during braking.
- This circular wall can also be scalable, in a manner identical to that described above, the contact between the lower side 54 of the axial portion 49 and the wall of the lower perimeter 52 of the light forcing the movable portion 27 to approaching the fixed part 25 to reach the minimum center distance e m , especially when the user does not exert sufficient pressure with the heel to deform the plate 11.
- the rod 31 is composed of two pieces mounted sliding relative to each other.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a roller equipped with a braking system. It will find its application in an industrial environment, at the manufacturers of sports equipment, in particular the manufacturers of rollers, and will be marketed especially in the sales areas of sports equipment.
It is known in particular two types of rollers, namely in-line rollers consisting of three or four wheels arranged in line one behind the other, and rollers, more commonly called roller skate, type "quad" is that is to say consist of two transverse axes of rotation, one disposed upstream and the other downstream of the roller, each axis receiving at both ends a wheel. In addition, according to these two types of rollers, they comprise a frame consisting of a longitudinal plate on which are mounted in line the rolling systems that is to say the wheels or pairs of wheels arranged in line. In addition, the frame includes a foot locking device for securing it with the roller. This foot locking device may be, for example, consisting of a footwear element allowing either the reception of the foot or the blocking of a suitable shoe and worn at the foot of the user.
As such, the invention relates to a roller, also called roller skate, for self-regulating braking; when the skater moves forwards, the pressure exerted on his heel decreases, thereby reducing the braking efficiency and avoiding any imbalance towards the front.
The roller comprises a frame, at least two rolling systems each consisting of at least one wheel rotatably mounted on a transverse axis of rotation, and at least one braking element. The chassis comprises at least one longitudinal plate on which are mounted in line the rolling systems and a foot locking device for securing of it with the roller. The braking member is disposed above at least one of the rolling systems to engage and brake the same. Furthermore, the plate has two parts, one of which, said fixed, is secured to the locking device of the foot and receives the braking element, while the other part, said mobile, receives the rolling systems arranged under the braking element; when the moving part approaches the fixed part, the rolling system comes into contact with the braking element. The roller also comprises a device for actuating the braking element, said actuating device being arranged on the chassis to be controlled by the user, in particular with the foot or the leg, or even with the hand.
According to the invention, the roller comprises a trigger device consisting of a pusher, in particular consisting of a connecting rod, and a trigger piece. The rod is mounted in pivot connection, on the one hand, at one of its ends with the actuating device and, on the other hand, at the other of its ends with the trigger piece. In addition, the triggering part consists of at least one plate-shaped part, adjacent to the rolling system, said plate being rotatably mounted transversely or in longitudinal translation with the fixed part, in particular at its rear end, and in translation with the movable part, to move from a locking position to an unlocking position under the action of the actuating device, said plate blocking the spacing between said fixed and movable parts during locking and on the contrary allowing their approximation when unlocking.
Thus, the triggering device is able to be activated under the action of the actuating device to move from a blocking position of the plate during slippage, to a release position thereof during the braking allowing the approximation of the fixed part with the moving part to bring the rolling system into contact with the braking element. Such a design has the advantage of avoiding inadvertent and involuntary braking during the practice of skating. Moreover, the pressure exerted by the weight of the skater and his inertia on the back of the roller allow the bringing the moving part closer to the fixed part and thus bringing the bearing system into contact with the braking element. The pressure is therefore greater or less depending on the weight and inertia of the skater.
Preferably, the longitudinal plate is slotted over part of its length, in particular from its rear end, so as to constitute the fixed part and the movable part, and to allow the approximation of said movable part with the fixed part by elastic deformation. of said platen. Other embodiments are possible; one can for example provide a fixed part on the frame and a movable portion mounted in pivot connection at its end, with the front end of said fixed part.
According to a preferred mode of design, the braking element consists of a roller rotatably mounted along a transverse axis of rotation on the fixed part. In addition, the rolling system consists of a single wheel rotatably mounted on an axis of rotation; this wheel is adapted to come into contact with the roller when the moving part approaches the fixed part.
Selon cette conception, le roller est plus couramment dénommé patin à roulettes ou système « quad ».According to a variant of design, the braking element consists of two rollers rotatably mounted along a transverse axis of rotation, the rollers being arranged on the lateral sides of the fixed part. In addition, the rolling system consists of two wheels rotatably mounted on an axis of rotation, said wheels being disposed on the lateral sides of the movable part. These wheels are able to come into contact with the rollers when the moving part approaches the fixed part, that is to say when the trigger device is unlocked. According to this design, the roller is more commonly referred to as a roller skate or "quad" system.
According to a first embodiment, the actuating device consists of a rod which comprises at least two parts hinged together, particularly at the level of the malleoli, along a transverse axis of pivoting. The first part wraps at least the heel of the foot disposed inside a footwear element. In addition, the second part wraps at least the lower portion of the calf; the pivoting of the second part of the stem, by an action of the leg allowing the calf to bear on this second part, actuating the connecting rod.
According to a variant of design, the actuating device consists of a part arranged under the front end of a footwear element constituting the foot blocking device, this actuating piece being integral with the braking system; the deformation of the footwear element makes it possible to move the workpiece, and thus to actuate the connecting rod.
Other design variants of the pusher are conceivable; it can include an electronic or automatic push rod acting directly or in combination with a connecting rod on the trigger piece. In this case, the actuating device is for example constituted by a control unit actuated with the foot or the hand, and triggering the electronic or automatic pusher.
