Abstract

The invention relates to a protective device with a protective cover according to the type specified in the preamble of claim 1.

Such golf club racquet head protection devices have long been known and consist essentially of a flexible material such as a cloth or the like. This protective device protects the club head of the golf club from scratches and other damage that may occur during transport. The protective device is pulled stocking over the club head of the golf club.

The invention is based on the finding that the requirement for a simple one-handed opening but also closing of the protective device is created by two appropriately dimensioned and shaped levers which are connected to the half-shells. By a dimensionally stable design of the half shells protection against mechanical impact, for example, when transporting the golf clubs in the golf bag, readily guaranteed.

According to the invention, therefore, two dimensionally stable half shells form the protective cover of the protection device. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the two half-shells are made of plastic. In particular, the two half shells are produced by injection molding. As a result, the half-shells can be manufactured inexpensively and the protection device can be marketed economically on the market.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the abutting in the closed position end faces of the half-shells are provided with a magnetic tape on one side and an iron-containing band on the other side. Both bands are firmly connected to the associated half-shell. In the closed position, the bands lie against each other, whereby the then acting magnetic forces hold the two half-shells together in the closed position. The half-shells are thereby secured against unintentional opening.

In order to enable an automatic closing of the protective device, a spring is provided, which acts in the direction of the closed position of the two half-shells. To open the half shells thus the levers against the spring force of the spring in the direction of Opening position of the half shells are pressed. By releasing the lever, the two half-shells close automatically on the basis of the acting spring force. In a simple way, this provides a closing mechanism which ensures that the protective device is always closed when not in use.
