Definitions
- the invention relates to a balance with a support surface for supporting a weight to be weighed.
- the balance is particularly suitable for the determination of small weights in the range of a few grams to several hundred kilograms or weight differences in the range of up to 0.1% of the maximum weight.
- US 4 503 922 shows a bathroom scale with a flat measuring coil and a bending beam.
- EP 0'299'395 shows a capacitive weight measurement with electrodes.
- a push button protrudes out of a housing of the electrodes.
- a transmission pin protrudes from a parent housing.
- EP 1 357 370 an inductive force sensor is known, in which a metal membrane is subjected to the force to be determined. By means of a flat coil, the distance between the membrane and the flat coil is measured inductively.
- a suitable for the operation of this flat coil circuit is for example made of EP 913 857 known. Similar arrangements are known from EP 0 774 651 for a differential pressure sensor and from EP 0 696 727 for a temperature sensor.
- the inventive scale has a support surface for supporting a weight to be weighed, an electrically conductive sensor plate, a spaced apart from the sensor plate flat coil for inductive measurement of a distance between the sensor plate and the flat coil, a sensor plate and the flat coil surrounding housing and a push button , which protrudes from the housing and which is connected to the sensor plate.
- the proven in other applications as temperature, force and differential pressure sensor (see publications above) sensor can be transformed with simple means to a balance.
- the support surface for the balance can be connected in one embodiment with the push button.
- the push button projects beyond the housing on an underside of the housing downwards, wherein the bearing surface is arranged on the opposite side of the housing.
- the connection between the push button and the membrane is thus better protected and the balance is less susceptible to interference.
- the underside of the housing forms a lower stop surface of the balance. This also reduces the susceptibility to interference, since the scale can not be overloaded.
- the length of the push button or the distance of the stop surface to the ground in the unloaded state can be chosen so that the membrane can deform only in its elastic range and thus always back to its original unloaded form can return.
- a spacer can be arranged between the coil and the sensor plate.
- a base plate can also protrude a pin on which a part, for example, the housing is present at high load on the balance.
- the housing is at least partially made of metal so that it forms an electrical shield for its interior.
- the balance may consist of the above-mentioned elements, integrated in the housing, in addition, only the corresponding electrical circuit for operating the flat coil must be integrated.
- the advantage here is that the individual weighing elements are independent sensors and do not need to be connected to each other electronically.
- the scale according to the invention can be used in a variety of ways, for example as a person scale, as a package scale, as a kitchen scale, in production lines and production plants. In particular, it can be used as a baby scale or for measuring a pumped or just expressed breastmilk amount.

- FIG. 7 shows an exploded view of the balance according to FIG. 6b.
- FIG. 1 shows a scale according to the invention. It has a housing with an upper housing part 1 and a lower housing part 4. Between the two housing parts 1, 4 a printed circuit board 2 is arranged. It can be arranged completely inside the housing 1, 4 or, as shown here, be formed so large that it forms part of the outer shell of the housing.
- the printed circuit board 2 is preferably round and the housing 1, 4 a flat circular cylinder.
- the housing is in this example at least partially, preferably made entirely of metal.
- a cable opening 11 is provided in order to drive the electrical lines from the power source to the printed circuit board 2 and to connect the sensor to transmit signal to a display unit and optionally to an evaluation unit, where it is changed to a weight indication. It is also possible to arrange a power source within the housing and to attach a display unit to the housing.
- the upper planar surface of the upper housing part 1 forms a bearing surface 12 for a weight to be weighed.
- the lower surface of the lower housing part 4 forms a stop surface 41.
- This stop surface 41 is not in the unloaded state of the scale on the ground, but is arranged by a push button 6 spaced therefrom.
- the push button 6 is located in a sleeve 5 and protrudes on the lower side of the housing 1, 4 out of this down. It is held displaceably with respect to the lower housing part 4. It is preferably punctiform on the ground, for example, it has a spherical or semi-spherical head.
- FIG 2 the interior of the balance according to Figure 1 can be seen.
- the housing parts 1, 4 and the printed circuit board 2 have through openings 10, 20 or via a blind hole 40, which are aligned with each other. This allows the housing to be screwed together.
- other types of connection are also possible, e.g. a squeeze.
- two cavities 8, 9 are provided in the interior of the housing, which are separated by the circuit board 2 from each other.
- a flat coil 7 and an electrical circuit, not shown, for operating the flat coil are arranged on the circuit board 2, a flat coil 7 and an electrical circuit, not shown, for operating the flat coil are arranged.
- the flat coil 7 is preferably integrated in the printed circuit board, in particular as a spirally running conductor track.
- the flat coil 7 is arranged on the lower side of the printed circuit board 2. Adjacent to it and these surface moderately covering a sensor plate 3 is arranged in the lower cavity 9.
- the sensor plate is a membrane 3, which is held fixed in position between the printed circuit board 2 and lower housing 4, as can be seen in Figure 3.
- the membrane 3 is located at a defined distance from the coil 7.
- the membrane 3 is round. It is made of a metal, in particular copper beryllium, stainless steel, beryllium bronze or nickel silver. It usually has a thickness of 40 to 500 microns. However, it can also be rectangular or oval or have a different shape. Their thickness may also be outside the range of values given above. Preferably, however, the shapes of the housing and the printed circuit board are adapted accordingly in this case.
- the membrane 3 has concentric waves, or the membrane is bent accordingly.
- a central, round region of the membrane 3 is preferably wave-free and planar. It forms a pressure surface 30.
- the sleeve 5 and thus the push button 6 is arranged or is operatively connected to it. If now a weight placed on the support surface 12, the housing 1, 4 is pressed down.
- the pressure surface 30 presses on the push button 6, which, however, does not yield, but along which the lower housing part 4 slides downwards. As a result, the pressure surface 30 is brought closer to the coil 7 and the distance decreases.
- the stop surface 41 prevents the membrane can be compressed arbitrarily far or touches the flat coil 7.
- the length of the protruding part of the push button 6, that is, the part which projects the lower stop surface 41 in the unloaded state, is preferably dimensioned such that the membrane 3 moves exclusively in the elastic or linear region.
- the push button 6 thus transmits the weight to be weighed on the membrane 3, whereby the distance to the flat coil 7 changes, so that the inductance of the coil 7 and its impedance changes. These changes are measurable as a change in the resonant frequency and / or the attenuation when the coil 7 is electrically arranged in a series or parallel resonant circuit.
- the coil 7 is acted upon by a high-frequency alternating current and thus generates a high-frequency magnetic field.
- the frequency f of the alternating current is chosen so high that the penetration depth of the magnetic field into the membrane 3 is significantly less than the thickness thereof.
- the penetration depth ⁇ is determined by the skin effect.
- the frequency is typically a few. MHz.
- the resulting due to the change in the distance between the membrane 3 and the coil 7 changing output signal of the flat coil 67 is, for example, the resonant frequency of the flat coil 7 and a Kon- capacitor formed resonator, or the amplitude of the voltage applied to the flat coil 7 AC voltage or the phase angle between the voltage applied to the flat coil 7 AC voltage and the oscillator or another of the flat coil 7 directly derived signal.
- the flat coil 7 thus serves on the one hand to generate an alternating magnetic field as well as to detect the effect which exerts the electromagnetic field generated by the skin effect of the membrane in push-pull on the magnetic field of the coil.
- the membrane 3 can also be a bending beam use, which is clamped on one or two sides and is acted upon by the push button 6.
- the bending beam is also made of an electrically conductive material, preferably made of metal.
- the membrane has the advantage that no measurable hysteresis occurs.
- the balance preferably has at least one opening 21 so that ambient air is present on both sides of the membrane.
- the balance preferably has at least one opening 21 so that ambient air is present on both sides of the membrane.
- These openings are several openings.
- a balance is shown, which is composed of a plurality of weighing elements W, as described above.
- weighing elements W available, which are connected to each other via a common support plate P.
- the weighing elements W are independent of each other and each deliver their measurement results directly to a transmitter E.
- the push buttons 6 are preferably arranged projecting down, but they can also be directed up to the common support plate P out.
- the support plate P forms a stop on the support surfaces 12, which prevents overstressing of the membrane 3 in the non-linear or non-elastic region.
- Figures 5 and 6a show a further embodiment of the inventive scale. Like parts are designated by like reference numerals as in the other examples.
- the upper housing part which, however is also preferably arranged above the circuit board 2 and connected to the lower housing part 4. All parts are rotationally symmetrical, as in the above example also in this example, wherein in the assembled state of the scale, the axes of rotation of the parts form a common axis.
- the push button 6 'on a point support. However, it is arranged in the push button 6 'integrated.
- the sensor plate 3 in turn presses on a sleeve 61 arranged below it.
- This sleeve 61 is preferably arranged at a distance from the lower housing part 4 centrally below the sensor plate 3.
- the sensor plate 3 loosely rests on the sleeve 5, without the sleeve being otherwise connected to the housing 1, 4 or the sensor plate 3.
- it can also be screwed to the sensor plate 3, welded to this or glued to it.
- a multi-part push button 6 ' is arranged below the sleeve 5, that is on its sensor plate remote end face. It is screwed into the sleeve 5 by means of a screw 63 with a flat or rounded screw head and preferably a sleeve 64 arranged on the sleeve side.
