Abstract

The mattress (M) has a sheet connected to another sheet by soldering to form a set of anti-fall inflatable cells (C) which are defined by main transversal solders (4) and secondary connection solders (5) and are aligned along a central longitudinal axis (A) of the mattress, where the cells are individually inflatable. The solders are realized such that the cells present an upper carrier support (SP) at an inflated state. The carrier support forms a cup point that is transversally oriented with respect to the longitudinal axis of the mattress, so that the support is curved towards the exterior.

Description

Domaine techniqueTechnical area

The present invention relates to the technical field of inflatable anti-decubitus mattresses which are used in hospital or similar for bed resting people for long periods. The main object of the invention is a new structure of anti-decubitus mattress which makes it possible to reduce the risk of falling of the bed for the patient.

When a person is bedridden for a long time on a traditional mattress, the parts of his body in prolonged contact with the mattress undergo compressions, which eventually result in the formation of bedsores. This disadvantage is particularly accentuated when the patient is not able to exercise even for a short period. Local massage is not an effective palliative measure both qualitatively and economically for patients destined to be bedridden for a long time.

In order to overcome this problem of pressure ulcer formation, a known solution to date consists in providing inflatable anti-decubitus mattresses, which comprise a plurality of juxtaposed inflatable cells. This type of mattress is described for example in the US patent US 5,704,084 . The cells of the anti-decubitus mattress are individually inflatable by means of a compressor or equivalent and in a predefined sequence and inflation cycle so as to reduce the compression times of the parts in contact with the cells of the mattress.

In addition, another major problem encountered in the confinement of a person in a hospital setting or equivalent is related to accidental falls of bedridden persons. This problem is magnified and deviates critically when bedridden people have reduced motor skills, such as, for example, people who have just undergone surgery, people who are totally or partially paralyzed, or the elderly.

To remedy this problem, several solutions have been envisaged. For example, a first solution described in the US patent application US 2006/0282955 consists in transversely slipping, in a structure comprising two longitudinal cushions, a plurality of inflatable cells. The two longitudinal cushions are raised relative to the inflatable cells so as to improve the lateral support of a patient lying on the inflatable cells.

A second solution described in the US patent US 6,085,372 consists of attaching two cushions along the longitudinal edges of a mattress consisting of a plurality of inflatable cells arranged transversely.

A third solution described in the US patent US 5,774,917 consists in producing a mattress consisting of a plurality of individual cells arranged transversely to the mattress. Each individual cell is separated, by means of a central diaphragm, into two cells, a right cell and a left cell. Each of these cells contains an inflated bag of air and a membrane that can properly maintain the patient on the mattress and prevent slippage.

A fourth solution described in the French patent application FR 2,883,728 consists in producing a mattress composed of individual inflatable cells in the form of a bowl and which are joined to each other by means of snaps. More specifically, the inflatable cells which are assembled to form the anti-decubitus mattress have their ends raised with respect to the support surface which is intended to come into contact with the body of the bedridden person.

These anti-decubitus mattress structures help to prevent the risk of accidental falling of the mattress. However, they have the disadvantage of being expensive because they are complicated to implement and / or to manufacture because of their individual cell structure. These mattress structures are for this reason mainly intended for daily use in hospitals.

Another less expensive and easier to implement anti-decubitus mattress structure is for example described in US Pat. US 6,134,732 . The thus disclosed mattress consists of an upper sheet welded to a lower sheet, the welds being made to define and delimit a plurality of inflatable cells disposed transversely to the mattress. Also, in order to limit the risk of accidental falls of patients, a secondary structure inflatable cells is positioned under the mattress on which the patient is intended to be bedridden. This structure comprises at least two inflatable cells which extend longitudinally with respect to the mattress and which, when inflated, make it possible to give the mattress a curved shape so as to substantially envelop the patient. Although easier to implement than the above mattress structures, this solution is not optimal because of the need to use a secondary structure to give a curved shape to the mattress on which the patient is lying.

In addition, the set of anti-decubitus mattresses disclosed in these documents have a secondary disadvantage that is not able to relieve the most stressed support zones, and more particularly the heels.

A final disadvantage of the aforementioned anti-decubitus mattress structures is related to the problem of the patient's blood circulation. In fact, the swelling or deflation of the cells makes it possible to prevent the formation of bedsores, however, in an extended position, the blood circulation of the bedridden patients is not good because of their immobility. To date, the only way to improve the blood circulation of bedridden people is to raise the back of the bed and / or the foot area with cushions and / or mechanical means.

Objectif de l'inventionObjective of the invention

The main object of the present invention is to propose a new simplified and inexpensive structure of an inflatable anti-decubitus mattress, compared for example with the structure described in the patent application. FR 2,883,728 .

Résumé de l'inventionSummary of the invention

For this purpose, according to a first aspect, the invention thus relates to an inflatable anti-decubitus mattress which comprises a first sheet bonded by welding, and more particularly by heat-sealing, to a second sheet so as to form a plurality of cells which are bounded by welds, which are individually inflatable and which are aligned along a longitudinal axis of the mattress. The welds are made so that several cells, called fall arrest, comprise in the inflated state a bearing surface forming a trough oriented transversely to the longitudinal axis of the mattress.

According to a second aspect of the invention, for the purpose of proposing a mattress structure which makes it possible to relieve the most stressed support zones and to improve the blood circulation, another object of the invention is an inflatable bedsores comprising a first sheet bonded by welding, and more particularly by heat-sealing, to a second sheet so as to form a plurality of cells which are delimited by welds, which are individually inflatable and which are aligned along a longitudinal axis of the mattress , said inflatable cells being distributed in a central sector and two end sectors, the cells of the central sector being, in the inflated state, lower than the cells of the two end sectors.

More particularly, the inflatable anti-decubitus mattress, according to the first and / or second aspect of the invention, has the following additional and optional features, taken separately or, if appropriate, in combination:
  • each fall arrest cell is delimited by at least two welds main transverse to the longitudinal axis of the mattress, and in that the distance between the two main welds of a fall arrest cell is increasing from the center of the cell to the ends of the cell
  • all inflatable cells are fall arrest cells
  • the distance between the two main welds of a fall arrest cell increases curvilinearly.
  • the inflatable cells are juxtaposed along the longitudinal axis
  • the inflatable cells are spaced from one another along the longitudinal axis
  • each fall arrest cell is delimited by at least two main welds oriented transversely to the longitudinal axis of the mattress, the distance between two main welds of a cell along the longitudinal central axis of the mattress corresponding to the width of the cell, and in that that the width of the cells of the central sector is less than the width of the cells of the end sectors.

Description détailléedetailed description

Representatives Figures 1 to 3 , an inflatable anti-decubitus mattress M for use in a hospital or similar for bed resting people for long periods.

With reference to Figures 1 and 2 the inflatable anti-decubitus mattress M extends along a central longitudinal axis A and comprises a first sheet 1 and a second sheet 2 of heat-sealable material, for example polyurethane, which are bonded by thermo-welding on their entire periphery along a peripheral weld line 3 so as to form a hermetically sealed envelope E.

The mattress M also comprises a plurality of so-called transversal main welds 4 and secondary bonding welds 5 which make it possible to define a multitude of individually inflatable fall arrest cells C extending along the central longitudinal axis A and substantially perpendicular thereto. A. More specifically, an inflatable cell C is formed by two transverse welds 4 arranged vis-à-vis one another and interconnected by two bonding welds 5 near the longitudinal edges of the mattress M. Each cell further comprises valve-type inflating and deflating means V to inflate or deflate the fall arrest cells C.

In a manner known per se, when the mattress M is used, all the individual inflatable cells C are not inflated simultaneously, but are inflated and deflated individually, via the valves V, according to a programmed cycle, so as to modify cyclically the pressure points on the body of the person lying on the mattress, which reduces the risk of pressure ulcer formation.

On the Figures 1 and 3 , SP is referred to as the upper surface of the inflatable cells C. This upper surface SP extends between two transverse welds 4 and two bonding welds 5 delimiting an inflatable cell C and forms the bearing surface of said cell C in contact with which the body of the bedridden person. When the cell C is inflated, this carrier surface SP advantageously forms according to the invention a bowl which is oriented transversely to the central longitudinal axis A of the mattress M, hence the name of fall arrest cell.

More specifically, the welds 4 and 5 are made in such a way that the individually inflatable fall arrest cells C take, when they are inflated, the shape of a bowl oriented transversely to the central longitudinal axis A of the mattress M. In this way, the carrier surface SP of the inflatable cells C is bent outwards so as to prevent the lateral sliding of a person lying on the mattress M, and to laterally stabilize this person in a central position on the mattress M. thus very significantly the risk of accidental falls. As represented in figure 3 , the carrier surface SP has a difference in height D between its highest point, located at the ends of the bearing surface and its lowest point, located in the center of the bearing surface. This difference in height D is approximately 3 cm in the particular embodiment of the appended figures. Nevertheless, where appropriate and to accentuate the cell shape of the cells when they are inflated, the realization of the welds 4 and 5 can be modified so as to have a difference in height D greater than 3 cm.

To achieve the implementation of an inflatable cell C having the shape of a bowl when inflated, the transverse welds 4 delimiting a cell C must be made in such a way that the distance or width I separating the two welds transverse 4 near the central longitudinal axis A must be smaller than the width L separating said transverse welds 4 near the bonding welds 5 ( figure 1 ). Preferably, the distance or width I is minimal in the center of the cell C, on the longitudinal axis A, and is increasing from the center of said fall arrest cell C towards the ends of the cell C until reaching the maximum width L The distance separating the two transverse welds 4 increases progressively, for example and not exclusively rectilinearly, incrementally or curvilinearly as shown in the appended figures. The widths L and I separating two transverse welds 4 from a cell C represent the half-circumference of the cylinder formed by said cell, once inflated ( figure 2 ). Thus, said inflated cell C has a height h which is minimum at the central longitudinal axis A and a height H which is maximum at the junction between a bonding weld 5 and two transverse welds 4. In this way, the larger the width of an uninflated cell C, the larger the height of the inflated cell will be.

Moreover, preferably, the anti-decubitus inflatable mattress M comprises three sectors of different heights. More specifically, the mattress M comprises a first said end sector Te, a central sector called body Co and a second end sector called heel Ta, said sectors being intended respectively to support the head, the body and the heels of a patient lying on the mattress M. Advantageously, so as to improve the blood circulation of the patient and to relieve the strongest support zones (heels), the height h of the C cells is larger at the ends of the head ends Te and heels Ta at the central area of the body Co. Ideally, the height h of the cells of the heel sector Ta is greater than the height h of the cells of the leading sector You. To arrive at this type of anti-decubitus inflatable mattress structure, it suffices to modify the arrangement of the welds 4 and 5 so that the width I, separating two transverse welds 4 from the C cells of the head sectors Te and heels Ta are greater than the width I of the C cells of the body sector C. This type of mattress structure can advantageously be implemented with individually inflatable cells (with or without a fall arrest effect) or individual inflatable cells.

The invention is however not limited to the embodiment of inflatable mattress anti-decubitus which has been described with reference to the accompanying figures, but extends more generally to any embodiment covered by the appended claims.

For example, in the particular variant of the appended figures, the Individual inflatable cells C are juxtaposed along the axis A of the mattress M and perpendicular to this longitudinal axis A. In this way, two transverse welds 4 of two consecutive inflatable cells C delimit a zone Z 1 empty and non-inflatable. Still in the particular variant of the appended figures, this zone Z 1 has a substantially oblong or oval shape, however, this particular shape is not exclusive, or could also imagine a zone Z 1 having for example the shape of a rhombus ( case where the width I separating two transverse welds 4 increases in a rectilinear manner). Similarly, so that the inflatable cells C take the shape of a bowl when inflated, they do not necessarily have to be juxtaposed along the mattress M. They could, indeed, also be arranged along the mattress M so as to they are completely independent and spaced apart (see figure 4 ). Finally, one could also imagine an inflatable anti-decubitus mattress in which we would have only the transverse welds 4 and connecting 5 because it is not necessary that the sheets 1 and 2 are bonded by thermo-welding on their entire periphery along of the peripheral sealing line 3 so that the cells C take the shape of a bowl when they are inflated.
