Abstract
The session initiation protocol (SIP) is used to establish calls/sessions between end-points. The type of session to be established is described by the session description protocol (SDP), RFC 2327. At present however, RFC 2327 only contains parameters that describe audio or video sessions. The expansion according to the invention of the SDP by corresponding parameters that describe file sharing sessions thus permits file sharing sessions to be established using the SIP.

Verfahren zur Einrichtung von Filesharing-SitzungenProcedure for setting up file sharing sessions
1. Problem, das der Erfindung zugrunde liegt1. Problem underlying the invention
Video Sessions. The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), RFC 3261, is used to establish connections / sessions between 2 end points. The type of session to be established is described by the Session Description Protocol (SDP), RFC 2327. Currently, however, only parameters for describing audio or video sessions exist in RFC 2327.
2. Bisherige Lösung des Problems2. Previous solution to the problem
There are proprietary protocols / file-sharing products (such as Napster, http://www.napster.com/) that allow dedicated file-sharing sessions to be established between users. However, these can not be combined with the user management of SIP-based converged networks.
3. Lösung des Problems gemäß der Erfindung3. Solution of the problem according to the invention
According to the invention, the Session Description Protocol (SDP) is also used in the context of SIP for describing file-sharing sessions, whereby file-sharing sessions can also be realized with the aid of SIP.
- (optional) Angaben zur Authentifizierung (Algorithmus, Has- hes, etc.) The Session Description Protocol (SDP), RFC 2327 can be extended according to an embodiment of the invention as follows to introduce file sharing sessions and beschrei ben ¬ : - a corresponding value for the specification in the parameter m media-description (eg m = fshare) - the specification of the file sharing protocol (eg ftp, sftp, nfs) can be exchanged via the filelist and files can then be transported. - (optional) Authentication details (algorithm, hashes, etc.) The authentication of the participating file sharing partners is usually part of the file sharing protocol (eg username / password at ftp) and therefore does not always need to be in the SDP to be supplemented.
Port 21 für die ftp control con- nection) verwendet werden - (optional) die Angabe der Portnummer des file Sharing- (optional) provides an indication of the port number of the file sharing Ser ¬ vers, the file lists and files, if not the well-known port (eg port 21 for the ftp control con- nection) are used - (optional) specifying the port number of the file sharing
Clients, der die Filelisten und Files vom File Sharing Server downloaden möchte und/oder Files zum File Sharing Server uploaden möchteClients who want to download the filelists and files from the file sharing server and / or upload files to the file sharing server
- der Locator für die per Filesharing Protokoll erreichbaren Ressourcen (z.B. verzeichnis@rechner)- the locator for the resources available via file-sharing protocol (eg directory @ calculator)
- (optional) ein Modus für die Freigabe: read only, read- write, allow update- (optional) a release mode: read only, read-write, allow update
4. Vorteile der erfindungsgemäßen Lösung4. Advantages of the solution according to the invention
For example, by using the invention, an operator can leverage their existing IMS / FMC network infrastructure to facilitate file sharing sessions for their customers in a convenient manner.
