- des feux de position, d'intensité et de portée faible;
- des feux antibrouillard ;
- des feux de croisement, ou codes, d'intensité importante et de portée sur la route avoisinant 70 mètres ;
- des projecteurs perfectionnés, dits bifonctions, qui cumulent les fonctions de feux de croisement et de feu de route en incorporant un cache amovible;
- position, intensity and low range lights;
- long-range headlamps, and long-range supplement lights, whose vision zone on the road is approximately 200 meters, and which must be extinguished when crossing another vehicle so as not to dazzle its driver; they are unbroken beams
- fog lights;
- low beam or high intensity lights and range on the road of 70 meters;
- advanced projectors, so-called bifunctions, which combine the functions of low beam and high beam by incorporating a removable cover;
- signaling devices, for example flashing type ...
There are two main families of optical modules, which correspond to two different arrangements of different elements. An optical module comprises an optical system comprising at least one light source, for example a halogen lamp or a xenon lamp, arranged in a reflector, and which is preferably autonomous, that is to say which is able to be lit. or extinguished separately from the other optical modules of the headlamp device in which it is installed if it comprises several optical modules.
- The first family is that of so-called elliptical optical modules. In this type of projectors, a spot of light concentration is generated by a light source arranged in a mirror, or reflector. Typically, the light source is disposed at the first focus, or object focus, of an ellipsoid-shaped mirror, said spot forming at the second focus, or image focus, of the mirror. The spot of light concentration is then projected onto the road by a convergent lens, for example a plano-convex lens. To obtain a cut-off beam, a cache is inserted in a known manner at the focal point of the lens.
- The second family is that of so-called parabolic optical modules. In this type of optical modules, a light beam is generated by a small light source disposed in a reflector, or mirror. The projection on the road of the light rays reflected by a suitable reflector makes it possible to directly obtain a light beam obeying the various constraints imposed by the standards. This family of optical modules includes projectors said free surface, or complex surface, which can directly obtain a light beam having a desired cutoff line.
The present invention is more particularly adapted to the optical modules of the first family.
The fact of having a light source arranged, in the direction of its length, in the alignment of the foci F1 and F2 of the reflector gives a particularly elongated shape to the
Ceci est d'autant plus vrai que pour les sources lumineuses transverses, l'introduction de la source lumineuse ne s'effectue plus par l'arrière du réflecteur, mais par un des côtés de celui-ci.Projector devices have therefore been proposed in which the light source is placed in transverse position: the filament of the lamp of the light source no longer extends, as in the example just described, along the optical axis the projector device considered, but in a direction substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of the projector device, and in a substantially horizontal plane. We win in this way depth for the projector device considered. This is all the more true for transverse light sources, the introduction of the light source is no longer made by the back of the reflector, but by one side of it.
- d'une part, pour introduire la lampe au sein du réflecteur, il est nécessaire de créer une ouverture sur un des flancs du réflecteur. Une partie de la surface réfléchissante qui était utilisée auparavant pour réfléchir des rayons lumineux n'est ainsi plus disponible ;
- on the one hand, to introduce the lamp within the reflector, it is necessary to create an opening on one of the sides of the reflector. Part of the reflecting surface that was previously used to reflect light rays is thus no longer available;
- on the other hand, the bulbs traditionally used, available on the market, have a blackened end, called "black top" in English. This end has been blackened for the achievements of the state of the art, in which the light source is disposed along the optical axis of the projector device, so as not to cause glare phenomenon and to be able to control all light rays produced by the light source. Masi using such a bulb in the transverse position, is deprived of light rays that would have reached an area of the reflecting surface of the reflector disposed substantially opposite the opening created in the reflector to introduce the transverse light source. This zone is then no longer properly exploited for the reflection of light rays.
Thus, with transverse light sources, it is deprived of two reflective surface areas of the reflector; the recovery of the luminous flux is then, in the state, less good than the recovery of the luminous flux observed in the examples where the light source is axial. Moreover, the areas of the reflector that are deprived are areas that are used to spread the width of light flux generated by the projector device considered.
Problems of intensity and spreading are thus observed with the transverse light sources used in the projectors devices of the state of the art.
The object of the invention proposes a solution to the problems that have just been exposed. In the invention, it is proposed to produce a module in which, despite the presence of a transverse lamp, the luminous flux produced is satisfactory. For this purpose, it is proposed to equip the optical module according to the invention with complementary mirrors which make it possible, in addition to the main reflector, to recover light rays that would have been lost without their presence, in order to integrate them into the overall light beam produced by the projector device in which the optical module according to the invention is integrated. Advantageously, the additional mirrors also perform a spreading of the light beam produced.
- un réflecteur principal au sein duquel est disposée une source lumineuse transverse émettant des rayons lumineux ;
- une lentille de projection ;
- un premier miroir avec une face réfléchissante tournée vers la source lumineuse, apte à réfléchir une première partie des rayons lumineux sous le réflecteur principal ;
- a main reflector in which is disposed a transverse light source emitting light rays;
- a projection lens;
- a first mirror with a reflecting face facing the light source, adapted to reflect a first portion of the light rays under the main reflector;
- a second mirror, with a reflecting face oriented to receive the light rays reflected by the first mirror, and so as to reflect said light rays to the output face of the projector device.
Advantageously, this first mirror is thus arranged with respect to the main reflector so as to be in the lower part of the module. It is preferably arranged at least partly under the optical axis of the main reflector, and preferably predominantly / entirely below it. It is for example arranged to face the main reflector, with its upper edge at the same height or at a height close to, or at a height less than, that of the light source.
By the expression "transverse position" is meant the fact that the lamp extends: in a direction substantially perpendicular to the optical axis, (for example represented by a

FR 06 04386 filed on May 12, 2006 FR 2 901 012 EP 07 290566.4 filed on May 04, 2007 EP 1 855 051 - the light recuperator is limited in the lower part by an inclined surface working in total reflection. The light rays of the second part of the light rays can be straightened by the recuperator of light in particular - on average - being substantially parallel to the optical axis of an output face of the light recuperator;
- the light recuperator has an input face having an upper limit forming a cutting edge, only the light rays reaching the light recuperator by said input face participate in the production of the overall light beam;
- the third mirror consists of distinct reflective zones:
- a first zone, located at the center of a first end of the third mirror, said first end being directly in contact with the main mirror, able to reflect a first portion of the second portion of the light rays to the projection lens;
- a second zone, located at a free end of the third mirror and the first end of the third mirror not belonging to the first zone, adapted to reflect a second portion of the second portion of the light rays to the optical element particular;
- the optical module comprises a cache, at least a portion of the light rays reflected by the first mirror having been obscured by said cache in the absence of the first mirror. Optionally, the cache is mounted movably. (It can thus have one or more optically active positions, where it has a function of occultation to create one or different cut-off beams of the crossing type, anti fog ..., and a retracted function, where it does not obscure the rays so that the module emits an unbroken beam of the beam type).
In the embodiment where the module comprises a cache; it is advantageous that the first mirror is disposed between the light source and the cache, with preferably the upper edge of the mirror being below the upper edge of the cache.
The various additional features of the optical module according to the invention, insofar as they do not exclude each other, are combined according to all the possibilities of association to lead to different embodiments of the invention.

The concepts of direction and position, of the "up", "down", "vertical", "horizontal", "lateral", "under" ... type, are mentioned in conventional conditions of use of the optical module according to the invention. invention once it is arranged in a projector device mounted on a motor vehicle traveling on a flat road.
- a
main reflector 201 in which is disposed alamp 202. Thelamp 202 is in the transverse position. Anopening 221 is thus provided on a side portion of themain reflector 201 so that thelamp 202 is placed in the transverse position. Advantageously, for reasons of radiation direction, the lamp used in the optical modules according to the invention is of the halogen lamp type. In other exemplary embodiments, it is proposed to use other types of lamps, for example xenon lamps or light-emitting diodes. Thelamp 202 is disposed at a first focus F11 of themain reflector 201. It emits light rays, a first, a second and a third light ray respectively referenced 204, 205 and 206 are shown.
- a
cover 207 for intercepting a portion of the light rays emitted by thelight source 202, in order to create a cut line in accordance with the regulations. Thecover 207 is disposed at a second focus F22 of themain reflector 201. - A
projection lens 208. In the invention, as will be detailed later, theprojection lens 208 does not receive all the light rays produced by thelight source 202, but only a portion of these light rays. In particular, the light rays, such as thelight beam 206, which are reflected by themain mirror 201 are directed towards theprojection lens 208. Theprojection lens 208 is characterized by a central axis, passing through the object focus and the focal point image of the lens, thus corresponding to theoptical axis 203 of the projector device in which theoptical module 200 is intended to be positioned. - an
exit face 209, through which passes all the light rays produced by the optical module according to the invention to create a global light beam.
- a
first mirror 210, arranged and oriented so that its reflecting face receives a first portion of the light rays produced by thelight source 202, and in particular thelight beam 204; the orientation of thefirst mirror 210 ensures the reflection of the light rays it receives in a direction aimed under themain reflector 201. Advantageously, thefirst mirror 210 is placed near the cover 207: at least a portion of the light rays that it reflects would have been, in his absence, intercepted by saidcache 207, and therefore would not have contributed to the overall light beam produced. - a
second mirror 211, disposed under themain reflector 201, which cooperates with thefirst mirror 210 to redirect the light rays reflected by thefirst mirror 210 towards theexit face 209; these light rays are directed towards the exit face without passing through theprojection lens 208, but passing under it, as shown in FIG.figure 4 .
In the example considered, the shape of the first mirror is globally hyperbolic, and that of the second mirror is globally parabolic. By choosing such shapes for these two mirrors, it optimizes the compactness of the particular optical module, while optimizing a recovery of light flux; other forms of mirror, even if they can be envisaged in other exemplary embodiments, would notably cause a modification of the bottom shape of the
Comme visible essentiellement aux
- une première partie 301 consiste en une portion d'un premier volume de forme globalement parabolique, désignée comme partie centrale, dont la fonction est essentiellement d'assurer un léger étalement du faisceau lumineux global tout en assurant une forte intensité lumineuse au niveau de la zone correspondante du faisceau lumineux global ;
- une deuxième partie consiste en une portion d'un deuxième volume de forme globalement parabolique, séparé en une première partie latérale 302 et en une deuxième partie latérale 303, dont la fonction est essentiellement d'assurer un étalement large du faisceau lumineux global ;

first portion 301 consists of a portion of a first volume of generally parabolic shape, designated as a central portion, whose function is essentially to ensure a slight spread of the overall light beam while ensuring a high light intensity at the zone corresponding global light beam; - a second part consists of a portion of a second volume of generally parabolic shape, separated into a first
lateral portion 302 and a secondlateral portion 303, whose function is essentially to ensure wide spreading of the overall light beam; - a
third portion 304, disposed at the lower center of thefirst portion 301, and marked by a clear forward inclination of the optical module relative to thisfirst portion 301, whose function is essentially to ensure a significant increase in the luminous intensity of the overall light beam, essentially in the central part of said overall light beam.
- a
third mirror 212, of generally elliptical shape in this example, whose reflecting face is placed in an upper extension of themain reflector 201. The third mirror is arranged and oriented so that its reflecting face receives a second portion of the light rays produced by thelight source 202, and in particular thelight beam 205; the orientation of thethird mirror 212 ensures the reflection of the light rays that it receives in a direction aimed under thelens 208. - an optical element 213: so that the light rays reflected by the
third mirror 212 reach theexit face 209, they are directed towards theoptical element 213 disposed under theprojection lens 208. The function of theoptical element 213 is to recover at least a portion of the set of light rays after their reflection on thethird mirror 212 to straighten them and direct them to theoutlet face 209. In the example shown, the optical element is of the recuperator type from light. In the example shown, the light rays reflected by thesecond mirror 211 pass under thelight recuperator 213 before reaching theexit face 209.
- an
input face 214 through which the light rays enter thelight recuperator 213, reaching said input face in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane containing the input face, or substantially perpendicular to a plane tangent to the entrance face at the point of entry considered for each light beam, so that the light rays reaching the input face are virtually deviated; the input face is inclined with respect to theoptical axis 203 of the projector device, and has an upper limit forming the cutting edge. Advantageously, the input face is substantially flat; the light rays which do not reach thelight recuperator 213 through theinput face 214 do not participate in the production of the overall light beam. - a
lower face 215, which advantageously consists of an inclined plane from the rear to the front, at which the light rays entering the light recuperator are reflected. Advantageously, the inclination is determined so that the reflection is total; - a
curved exit face 216, at which the rays reflected from thelower face 215 exit the light recuperator to be directed to theexit face 209 of the projector device. Thelower face 215 makes it possible to straighten the light rays which it reflects, in particular - on average - to be substantially parallel to the optical axis of theoutput face 216 of the recuperator.
In fact, the recuperator has a "corner" (F3) which is the intersection between its upper upper face and its lower face, it is this corner that allows to obtain a cut in the beam coming out of this element. Rays reaching the recuperator "above" this corner do not participate in said beam.
- a
first zone 217, located in the center of afirst end 218 of thethird mirror 212, said first end being directly in contact with themain reflector 201. The light rays which are reflected by thefirst zone 217 are directed directly to theprojection lens 208, as shown in FIG.figure 2 . Thefirst zone 217 thus contributes essentially to reinforcing the maximum intensity of the overall light beam, especially in directions close to that of the optical axis; - a
second zone 219, located at afree end 220 of thethird mirror 212, and at the first end of the third mirror not belonging to thefirst zone 217. The light rays which are reflected by thesecond zone 219 are directed directly to thelight recuperator 213, as shown in FIG.figure 5 . Thesecond zone 219 therefore contributes essentially to the spread of the overall light beam.
