Definitions

  • the invention relates to an exercising device, comprising a mechanism to be rotated by a user of the exercising device via drive means which rotate about an axis of rotation, and vibration means by which the drive means can be set vibrating, said vibration means comprising an electric motor, which rotates about an axis of rotation, comprising at least one weight to be rotated about the axis of rotation by said motor, which weight is eccentrically disposed relative to said axis of rotation.
  • Exercising devices which can be rotated by a person using the exercising device, for example exercising devices whose drive means are formed by hand or foot pedals, are generally known. From US-A-3,713,438 there is known an exercising device whose drive means can also be driven by means of a motor. Furthermore, a motor with a weight to be rotated by said motor is mounted to the frame of the device that is known from US-A-3,713,438 , by means of which weight the frame can be set vibrating in several directions.
  • the object of the invention is to obtain such an exercising device by means of which a user can improve his or her fitness better than with the exercising devices known so far.
  • a vibration only in substantially vertical direction is generated by means of a compact construction, so that vibrations in undesirable directions are prevented.
  • Such an exercising device can also be used well in the rehabilitation process of patients faced with problems regarding their limbs used in moving the drive means of the exercising device.
  • Figure 1 is a schematic side view of an exercising device according to the invention.
  • Figure 2 is a larger-scale cross-sectional view of a part of the exercising device shown in figure 1 .
  • Figure 3 is a side view of figure 2 .
  • the exercising device shown in figure 1 is mainly of conventional design, comprising a frame 2 which is supported on the ground by means of supports 1.
  • the frame 2 is provided with a saddle 3, on which a user of the exercising device can seat himself.
  • the saddle 3 is adjustable in horizontal direction and in vertical direction in a usual manner.
  • the exercising device is further provided with "handlebars" 4, on which the user of the exercising device can support himself, if desired.
  • crank axle 5 is journalled in the frame, to the ends of which crank axle pedal arms 6 provided with pedals 7 are connected in a usual manner.
  • a block 8 which rotatably accommodates the crank axle 5, is mounted to the underside of the horizontally extending web 9 of a U-shaped (seen in sectional view) beam 10, whose parallel legs 11 extend upwards from the web 9.
  • the legs 11 of the U-shaped beam 10 are positioned between legs 12 of a U-shaped (seen in sectional view) beam 13, which extend parallel to the legs 11.
  • the web 14 connecting the legs 12 of the U-shaped beam 13 is fixed to the frame 2, for example welded thereto.
  • spring members 15 which are formed by hollow rubber bodies in the illustrated embodiment.
  • the hollow bodies 15 comprise upper and lower ridges 16 extending parallel to each other, whose ends are interconnected by means of V-shaped members 17. Said ridges 16 are fixed to the web 14 of the U-shaped beam 13 and to the web 9 of the U-shaped beam 10, respectively.
  • a wheel 18 is furthermore mounted to the horizontal crank axle 5, which wheel is connected, by means of a chain or belt (not shown), to a mechanism 19 to be rotated.
  • the resistance with which said mechanism 19 can be rotated by rotating the crank axle is preferably adjustable.
  • ears 23 supporting an electric motor 22 are freely pivotable about said axle pins 21.
  • the electric motor can be fed via batteries (not shown) and/or from the electric mains. Another possibility is to provide the mechanism 19 to be rotated via the crank axle 5 with a dynamo, by means of which electric power for feeding the electric motor 22 can be generated.
  • the electric motor 22 By arranging the electric motor 22 so that its axis of rotation extends perpendicularly to the crank axle 5, the electric motor can be disposed between the pedal arms 6 in an effective manner, thus making it possible to realise a compact construction of the exercising device.
