Abstract

The method involves providing rhomboid shape central cups (1, 2a, 2b) of different dimensions to image a rotogravure form to achieve different tone values or print densities by engraving. Image data for imaging the rotogravure form is assembled from image tiles (3, 4) e.g. polygonal image tiles, by a controller, where some of the image tiles contain a partial cup formed by a portion of adjacent central cups. The partial cup is connected with the central cups by an ink channel (8) in an ink-conducting manner. An independent claim is also included for a system for imaging of a rotogravure form.

Description

The invention relates to a method for imaging gravure printing forms according to the preamble of claim 1, and to a device for imaging a gravure printing form according to claim 12.

From the EP 1 568 490 A1 For example, a method of directly engraving wells for receiving gravure ink is known in which wells of different sizes are engraved in the gravure form. The cells are formed there from a predetermined number of engraved pixels. The image data provided for imaging the intaglio are parcel-shaped in a continuous pattern composed of picture tiles, each corresponding to a screen mesh. The raster meshes or image tiles comprise edge raster meshes or image tiles which, in contrast to inner raster meshes or image tiles, each contain an only partially formed cell. As a result, however, some wells in the image border raster meshes or image tiles have very small cell volumes.

However, wells in a gravure form, from a certain minimum volume or smaller, do not reliably and / or completely release the ink picked up by them from the substrate. On the one hand, this depends, for example, on the well volume, but on the other hand, for example, also on the consistency of the color, in particular its viscosity. This can lead to an erroneous expression, which is conspicuous and undesirable in tonal gradients, but also in edge contours of an image, since such a contour could then appear frayed, for example. This is especially true for publication printing as well as packaging printing.

From the DE 43 38 337 C1 a method of the type mentioned above for laser engraving is known, are arranged in the image data parquet in a seamless grid network or pattern of raster meshes so that the engraving points or wells lie with their centers on the intersections of the grid network. Since the individual engraving points can only assume predetermined positions from the detent net, each oblique contour has an uneven and jagged edge in the representation of an odd-line contour. This can be avoided by additional, in the direction of engraving or lagging laser pulses, whereby the engraving points or cups are at least partially moved in the direction of engraving from the intersections of the grid network out. The leading or trailing laser pulses can have a different energy content, so that the engraving points or wells can also be smaller than the engraving points or wells in the interior of the contour. Further, the duration of a last laser pulse used to smooth the bottom of an engraving point or cup can be extended to make a puncture to the next engraving point or cup, without compromising the side dividers needed as support points for the inking blades. The punctures, however, run only in one direction.

The invention has for its object to improve the imaging of a gravure printing. In this case preferably a Bebilderungsdatenverarbeitung is facilitated and / or automated and / or improved the gravure form of the printed image and / or improved contour acuity of the printed image can be obtained by improving the edge contours contributing wells in image border tiles even with a small cell volume of them recorded Deliver color reliably and completely to the substrate again.

This object is achieved according to the invention in process view by the features of claim 1.

The printed image can be printed easier, faster and more automated and analyzed when needed.

Preferably, according to the invention, a respective image tile is constructed or selected such that it contains a well and / or parts of neighboring wells. With such image tiles, the printed image can be recorded and processed with advantage completely and completely by a suitable tiling data.

Thus, the only partially trained wells that contribute, for example, to improve a contour are printed properly, the invention provides that at least one only partially trained wells with at least one adjacent well, which itself could also be a Teilnäpfchen, color connected, and that color-conducting connections are provided in different directions. In this way according to the invention, the well and the sub-well or two or more sub-wells together form a larger, optionally bizarrely designed cell or well system which can deliver the ink properly.

Preferably, according to the invention, marginal cells cut off by an image edge are also formed as partial cells in the gravure form by circumstances of image data. This, too, can then lead to the partially formed cup being a peripheral cup cut off from a frame by circumstances of image data, which is introduced into the printing form only as a partially formed cup and itself has difficulties in dispensing the ink. Also according to the invention it is preferably provided that a color-conductive compound is produced with a complete well.

A preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention provides that, in the case of an image edge tile located on the edge of an image by circumstances of image data, the marginal parts of neighboring wells are formed as partial cells. In particular, according to the invention, in order to avoid isolated partial cells, all peripheral parts of neighboring wells, ie the partial cells lying in the vicinity of one edge, could be connected to one well completely covered by the image edge tile and / or to another part well or even to several wells or partial wells.

According to the invention, essentially rectangular picture tiles are preferably used. Each image tile could then, for example, essentially capture the area of a raster mesh of a cell image raster. Other polygonal image tile forms would of course be conceivable, for example, honeycomb shapes or diamond shapes, or even cornerless, for example, tongue-shaped picture tiles.

Each image tile preferably encompasses or comprises a central cup and, depending on the screen angle, substantially in diagonal directions of the image tile or in the direction of the respective screen angle to find parts of Nachbaräpfchen.

If desired, wells and / or partial wells are connected in pairs, but more wells or partial cells could also be connected to one another. In particular, the provided connection options also make it possible to provide selection criteria for the respective preferred connection and / or depending on the situation, for example in the form of a selection algorithm.

Whether a partial cell or an image tile is adjacent to an image edge, according to the invention, preferably automatically, data processing technology recognized by preferably provided for imaging the gravure form image data by suppository-wise and / or pixel-wise environment comparison located on the edge of an image edge cups or parts thereof and / or image border tiles searched and these are identified by it. For this purpose, the entire environment of a well, a sub-well and / or a pixel of a well or Teilnäpfchens could be considered. Main search directions can also be specified. Such a method can also be performed self-learning, for example by preceding search sequences intelligently could be taken into account.

For a gravure printing form according to the invention which is characterized in that it is imaged by the method according to the invention, as well as for an inventive device for imaging a gravure form, which forms wells in a gravure form, which is characterized in that it is a workable by the inventive method and / or for such a method established control, preferably programming or programmability, each claiming independent protection. In particular, the method according to the invention could also be wholly or partly incorporated in a software with which the respective print job conditions can be specified.

An inventive edge section of a picture detail, on which the method according to the invention is explained again in part, is shown in the single drawing figure. From this drawing, further inventive features may arise, but the invention should not be limited in scope to this embodiment.

The figure shows only schematically and by way of example a possible section of a raster image of wells. The wells are indicated as diamonds 1, 2a, 2b. In each case with a central cup 1 in the middle rectangular picture tiles 3, 4 have been formed, the boundaries of which are indicated by dashed lines 5 and with which the raster image is recorded in a parquet manner.

In addition, a corner region of an image edge has been indicated by solid lines 6, 7 in the drawing.

Through the course of the image edge 6, 7 cups 2b are severed, part of which would be outside the image edge. From such cups 2b therefore only that part is respectively formed in a printing form, preferably engraved, which lies within the image in order to draw as sharply as possible the image contour corresponding to the image edge course.

As already mentioned, each image tile includes, for example, a central well 1 and, in the corner regions of the image tile, a quarter of a neighboring well.

The image tiles 3 are image edge tiles, which adjoin the image edge 6, 7 and therefore also include sub-cells of peripheral wells 2b. They also include wells 2a, which belong to several picture tiles 3, 4. Picture tiles 4 are inner picture tiles, which in their corner areas have only inner sub-cells of cells 2a belonging to several picture tiles. These inner cups 2a are formed completely on the printing form in the interaction of the picture tiles 3, 4.

The Randääpfchen 2b but only partially, as I said, as far as they are within the image edge 6, 7. This creates small bowl areas that have difficulty dispensing paint to a substrate.

According to the invention, therefore, image data are checked to see which image tiles are image edge tiles 3 and thus have edge cups 2b. Such Randnäpfchen 2b are then connected color-conductive by additional color channels 8 and Näpfchendurchstiche with the respective central cup of the picture edge tile so as to produce a Gesamtnäpfchen that can deliver the color of the Randnäpfchen properly. These color channels are thus generated in the printing form in the imaging with, preferably engraved with. If appropriate, a respective color channel 8 for the connection of a Teilnäpfchens 2b with a central cup 1 is sufficient.
