Abstract

An improvement of the device for unscrewing bottle caps or stoppers, comprising a handle (1) which, following to the couple of forces applied and through surfaces (2), is able to impress to jaws (3) such a pressure as to generate a self-centering movement towards rotating axis (10). In a variant according to the present invention, the device may be used as an instrument for opening containers or bottles with metal rim caps.

Description

LID REMOVER
The present invention concerns an improvement of the devices for unscrewing caps or stoppers, for unscrewing quickly and with the smallest effort, the screw caps of the bottles, out of plastic or other material.
The present invention represents an alternative to the manual unscrewing, performed with the sole force of the hands, and which sometimes might be difficult due to the considerable tightening.
Besides the use in a household, the device according to the present invention may be used in bars, restaurants, wine cellars and similar.
The devices known to the art have all proved not to be very functional.
It is the aim of the improvement according to the present invention to make the functionality practical, easy, simple and quick, so that everybody may be able to unscrew caps and stoppers without them sliding away and therefore making the device inefficacious.
The aim set forth is reached by means of the device according to the present invention; its functional feature consists in making use of a force moment or of a couple of forces onto a handle, having a diameter greater than the one of the cap or the stopper, and thus obtaining the rotation thereof with the smallest effort; and to impress to the jaws, through special surfaces,, such a pressure as to generate a self-centering movement towards the rotation axis of said device.
The advantage of the device according to the present invention appears evident.
The improvement of the device for unscrewing bottle caps or stoppers according to the present invention will be described more in detail hereinbelow according to the enclosed drawings.
Figure 1 shows an exploded view of all elements of the improvement of the device for unscrewing bottle caps or stoppers according to the present invention.
Figure 2 shows the inside of the device according to the present invention during the active phase of self-tightening and blocking of the cap to be unscrewed, coupled with the relative square section view.
Figure 3 shows the device, ready for the insertion onto the cap to be unscrewed. Figure 4 shows a scheme of a functional variant to be applied for the opening of rim caps.
The enclosed figures show an improvement of the device for unscrewing bottle caps or stoppers according to the present invention, comprising: a manoeuvre or handle element 1 which, following to the couple of forces applied, can perform a push onto jaws 3 which perform a self-centering movement with the consequent blocking of a cap 8; said jaws 3 which have the possibility of oscillating onto pins 5 ad slowly lowering laterally of the cap so that the grips 4 are positioned and take hold on the lateral bordering of said cap;
- appropriately shaped surfaces 2, linked to said handle, which perform a push onto said jaws 3, said push being directly proportional to the rotation force applied to said handle; flanges 7 inside which said handle 1 is free to perform a small rotation around an axis 10;
- springs or elastic systems 9 for performing a constant push onto said jaws in the direction of said rotation axis 10.
The functioning of the improved device for unscrewing bottle caps or stoppers according to the present invention, may be described as follows: - the device is inserted from top onto said cap 8 until said cap rests below a resting disc 6, while at the same time said jaws 3, which may oscillate onto pins 5, laterally slide downwards along said cap so that the grips 4 get positioned and take hold of the lateral bordering of said cap;
- the unscrewing of the cap takes place by manually applying a couple of anticlockwise forces to said handle 1, which is free to perform a small rotation of said flanges 7 so that said surfaces 2, appropriately shaped and linked with the handle, perform a push onto said jaws, whereby said push is directly proportional to the applied rotation force; - the push of said jaws toward^ said cap 8 determines the blocking thereof, while the rotation force applied to the handle forces the device and said cap to perform said block anticlockwise, and this determines the unscrewing.
In the variant according to figure 4, the device according to the present invention may be used as an instrument for the opening of containers or bottles 13 with metal rim caps 11, due to the presence of two grooves 12 obtained on said resting disc 6, so that the opening operation of the rim cap occurs by inserting the device according to the present invention from the top, making the grooves get set to the lateral edge of the cap and impressing a force in the direction of arrow 14.

Claims

1. An improvement of the device for unscrewing bottle caps and stoppers, characterized in a handle (1) which, following to the applied couple of forces and through surfaces (2), will impress to jaws (3) such a pressure as to generate a self-centering movement towards the rotation axis (10).
2. An improvement according to claim 1, characterized in that said movable jaws (3) oscillate onto pins (5) following to the push action received from said handle (1), and they perform a movement towards the rotation axis, laterally fixing and blocking cap (8) to be unscrewed.
3. An improvement according to claim 1, characterized in one or more friction surfaces (4) having the task of adhering and getting engaged with the lateral bordering of said cap (8) for firmly blocking it.
4. An improvement according to claim 1, characterized in springs or elastic systems (9) for performing a constant push onto said jaws towards said rotation axis (10).
5. An improvement according to claim 1, characterized in that it may be used as an opening instrument for containers or bottles (13), with metal rim caps (11), due to two grooves (12) obtained on said resting disc (6), so that the rim cap opening operation takes place by inserting the device according to the present invention from the top, making the two grooves on the lateral edge of the cap get engaged and impressing a force in the direction of arrow (14).
