Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an improvement made to a device for improving the acoustic protection of the body defining the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, in particular vis-à-vis noises of various origins created by the rolling of the vehicle on the ground and which, without particular precautions, are transmitted through the floor of this cabin, creating for the users sitting in it, an unacceptable embarrassment.
  • the present invention relates to an improvement made to a structure of this kind comprising, on the one hand, arranged under the floor of the passenger compartment, covering elements of a sound-absorbing material, on the other hand a lower acoustic screen spaced screws to the floor, and means of connection between the floor, these elements and the screen, this improvement being designed to significantly improve the performance of the assembly from the point of view of sound insulation of the cabin of the vehicle.
  • the device in question is characterized in that the covering elements are pressed against the lower face of the floor by means of at least one pressing member comprising a two-part floor profile, with at least one upper flat face applied under the cover elements and at least one lower flat surface secured to the acoustic screen.
  • the invention thus makes it possible to decouple the pressing function against the lower surface of the floor of the covering elements of absorbent material, which improves their efficiency by a better damping of the sound vibrations due to their compression thus obtained, and the function devolved to the acoustic screen whose structure is not dependent on the particular profile of the floor and the covering elements applied to it, this screen may have a particular shape different from that of the floor to improve, so independent, its own performance.
  • the pressing member may locally comprise, under the floor, profiled zones, made in particular hollow, reinforcing the damping effect of the sound and improving its own rigidity.
  • the covering elements held under the floor by the pressing member are constituted by blocks or volumes of felt or similar material, bagged in one or more envelopes of a plastic or other packaging.
  • the pressing member has ends bearing on the surface of the floor and having areas of smaller thickness, flexible, allowing this pressing member to absorb local differences in level with the floor, adjusting the support of these ends on the latter according to its height variations.
  • the pressing member is provided with lightening holes distributed in its surface outside its upper face applied to the covering elements, these holes notably allowing the flow of stagnant water having been able to infiltrate between the floor and the pressing member.
  • the acoustic screen is removably attached to the floor at the same time as the pressing member, by means of connecting fingers secured to the floor and extending perpendicularly to its surface.
  • FIG. 1 is a sectional view of the device according to the invention, illustrating its essential parts.
  • FIG. 2 is a sectional view, on a larger scale, of a detail of the device of FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 3 is a view also on a larger scale of a part of the device according to FIG. a detail of the organ near you.
  • FIGS. 4 and 5 are other sectional views of a portion of the device showing the means for fixing under the vehicle floor of the pressing member and the acoustic screen.
  • reference numeral 1 denotes, schematically, the floor of the body of a motor vehicle, consisting essentially of a sheet or other metal structure 2, suitably shaped to fit the lower part of the body. cabin, but whose particular detail does not directly matter to the invention, except to specify that this sheet 2 extends mainly in a horizontal plane above the ground (not shown) on which rolls the vehicle.
  • the floor 1 is associated with an acoustic screen 3 made of metal or a suitable rigid plastic material, this screen being placed under the sheet 2 above the ground and arranged in such a way as to delimit with the here a free space 4.
  • This screen 3 is provided to provide protection of the passenger compartment above the floor and has for this purpose a suitable profile, which varies depending on the position of the screen under the body to improve its performance, both a acoustic point of view only from a mechanical point of view.
  • the acoustic protection of the body is improved by applying and fixing under the metal sheet 2 of the floor, by gluing or by points or by zones, or by any other suitable conventional method, covering elements 5, in one material having sound absorption properties, these absorbent elements being in the form of elongate blocks or similar volumes, relatively flat to fit the lower surface of the floor 1, and preferably being contained in one or more envelopes of packaging 6 in a flexible plastic material, to facilitate their transport and especially their establishment under the sheet 2 of the floor 1.
  • the covering elements 5 are made by means of a textile felt, the fibers of which are already suitably compacted during the manufacture of the material before being put into place in the packages 6.
  • the installation under the floor 1 of the acoustic screen 3 and the elements covering 5 of absorbent material is provided by means of pressing members 7, each consisting of a sheet, preferably of a plastic material or the like, relatively thin but nevertheless sufficiently rigid, suitably shaped, these pressing members being distributed according to the surface of the floor 1 and comprising a floor profile in two parts, with at least one and preferably several upper flat faces 8 which are directly applied under the elements 5 so as to ensure the close support of these under the metal sheet 2 in further compressing slightly the absorbent material of these elements, and at least one and preferably several lower flat faces 9 which are secured to the screen 3, in particular in parts thereof which extend under the floor 1, substantially parallel to and at a distance from the latter.
  • the screen 3 and the pressing member 7 are secured to the floor 1 by means of fixing assemblies 11, the details of which are described below.
  • the lower planar faces 9 of the pressing member are secured portions 10 of the screen 3 against which they rely, by welding or by any other suitable means, such as screw and nut, clip or other.
  • the end edges 12 of the pressing member 7, on each side of the floor 1, are raised and comprise a zone 13 of smaller thickness, giving the sheet which constitutes this member increased flexibility, in particular the end 14 of this sheet which rests under the floor 2, allowing the pressing member 7 to absorb local differences in level of this floor while closing laterally the space 4 between the sheet 2 and the screen 3.
  • the upper faces 8 of the pressing member 7 which are applied under the covering elements 5 of absorbent material may comprise, as shown in the view on a larger scale of Figure 3, profiled zones 15, made in recesses, in particular by localized stamping of the sheet 2, these zones ensuring its mechanical reinforcement and also improving the damping effect of the sound.
  • zones 15 may advantageously comprise lightening holes 16 which form communication passages with the air contained in the space 4 and also can ensure the flow therein of the stagnant water which, during the rolling of the vehicle, could be introduced into this space and be distributed in contact with the covering elements 5.
  • Figure 3 also illustrates, on a larger scale, the detail of a fastening assembly 11 between the floor 1, the acoustic screen 3 and the pressing member 7.
  • This assembly 11 mainly comprises a finger 17 fixed by any suitable means under the sheet 2 of the floor 1 which extends vertically downwards, perpendicular to it, this finger ending in a spherical portion 18 arranged to cooperate with a coupler 19 by engaging in an open groove 20 of the same profile, provided in the latter.
  • This coupler 19 advantageously consists of a molded part made of a material having a relative elasticity to ensure the clamping of the spherical part 18 of the finger 17 when it engages in the groove 20, this part also having an external groove 21 into which the suitably folded ends engage, respectively 22 for the screen 3 and 23 for the pressing member 7.
  • FIG. 4 illustrates an improvement made to the fixing assembly 11, wherein the finger 17 fixed under the sheet 2 of the floor 1 and extending vertically from it, comprises, in addition to a portion of spherical end 18 intended to cooperate with a coupler 20 to secure the finger with the ends 22 and 23 of the acoustic screen 3 on the one hand, and the pressing member 7 on the other hand, an intermediate spherical portion 24 for allow to carry by the finger, between the pressing member 7 and the cover members 5, a support 25 forming a reception rack for cables, pipes or the like (not shown), housed in cells 26 of this support, that it being arranged in a space of appropriate dimensions 27, formed under the floor 1, between the latter and the corresponding part of the pressing member 7.
  • FIG. 4 illustrates a covering element 5, a pressing member 7 with a support member 25 and the acoustic screen 3, before mounting on the finger 17 of the fastener 11 carried by the sheet 2 of the floor 1, Figure 5 showing the same parts once this assembly done.
  • An acoustic protection device is thus produced for the body of a motor vehicle of very simple design, using in particular, between the screen which extends at a distance under the floor of the passenger compartment and sound-absorbing material covering elements, pressed against the underside of the sheet which forms this floor, pressing members which increase the surface compressed of these elements by optimizing their own acoustic efficiency and which also ensure the connection with the screen, these parts being secured together the floor.
  • These pressing members are independent of the acoustic screen itself and in particular make it possible to retain the aerodynamic shape of this screen, which may be substantially different from that of the floor itself; in addition, these pressure members can be easily shaped on their side edges so as to close the free space between the floor and the acoustic screen, these edges being further arranged to allow an adjustment of their height to follow the possible variations of level of the floor against which they rest.
  • the covering elements of sound absorbing material remain in place under this floor because of their attachment by gluing or other means, if necessary being maintained by the support rack engaged on the spherical portion of the finger which cooperates therewith.
  • the sheets that make up the pressing members, which apply against the covering elements could be made of other materials on a case by case basis, adapted best to the function they fulfill.
