Hardness adjustable individual spring element of a piece of furniture for sitting or lying on, consisting of a bottom part having bolt holders (14), a top part having a bearing surface and also consisting of a spring element (4) made of elastic elements that is arranged in between, wherein at least two functional surfaces (7), which are directed towards one another, of two arcuate elements (9) of the spring element (4), said arcuate elements (9) being arranged opposite and spaced apart from one another and extending from the bottom at the outside upwards towards the middle, are configured such that they can move towards one another along a horizontal reaction path (5) in the event of pressure acting perpendicularly thereto, and an activatable and deactivatable locking body (6) engages in between, said locking body partially or completely blocking the horizontal reaction path (5) in an active locking position, characterized in that the bearing surface is configured as a bearing plate (3), the locking body (6) has an adjusting knob (13) which is mounted rotatably in the bearing plate (3) and the bolt holders (14) are mounted in a base part (2) which has securing arrangements for the arrangement as desired on a rigid bed bottom part, such as a crossmember (10).
  2. Individual spring element according to Claim 1, characterized in that the bearing plate (3), the locking body (6), the spring element (4) and the base part (2) are produced from plastics that are optimized for the intended use thereof.
  3. Individual spring element according to Claim 2, characterized in that the components are connected together via latching connections.
  4. Individual spring element according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the bolt holders (14) are clipped rotatably onto pivots of the base part (2).
  5. Individual spring element according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the bearing plates (3) have different sizes and/or shapes.
  6. Individual spring element according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the base part (2) has more than two mounts for more than two bolt holders (14) of a bottom part (2) of an individual spring element (1), which has more than two arcuate elements (9) having in each case one functional surface (7), and in horizontal cross section the locking body (6) is star-shaped with three or more points, the outer end sides of which are in contact with the functional surfaces (7) when the locking body is activated and the inside corners of which adjoin the horizontal reaction path (5) when the locking body is deactivated.
  7. Individual spring element according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the base parts (2) are mounted in a longitudinally displaceable manner on the rigid crossmembers (10).
