Description

Stand der TechnikState of the art

The present invention relates to a connector assembly, in particular a connector assembly which is provided on a gear cover of a windshield wiper motor.

From the US 5,213,225 a connection arrangement is known, which is provided on a gear cover of the transmission of a windscreen wiper motor. The connection arrangement establishes a connection between the internal electrical lines of an electronic module and an electrical supply line from the outside. The electronic module is mounted in the gearbox housing. In this case, this is an autostop mechanism that limits the deflection of the windshield wipers. At the connection arrangement screw holes are provided for the attachment of the connection assembly on the gear cover.

The fastening by screws, however, generally requires a great deal of time and labor, whereby the manufacturing costs are increased. It would therefore be preferable to have a connection arrangement which only has to be plugged in and not screwed on, but at the same time permits an exact positioning of the connection to the internal electrical lines.

The DE 198 48 732 discloses a generic connector assembly. The plug body has a plug head and a plug-in element. Several electrical cables run from the plug head to the plug element and end in electrical contacts. The plug is stretched in an opening formed in a wall of a transmission. A disadvantage of this connector assembly is in particular in the missing seal. This connector assembly is therefore not suitable for the transmission of a windshield wiper motor.

From the US-A-4 589 719 is a connector assembly with the features of the preamble of claim 1 is known.

AufgabenslellungAufgabenslellung

The present invention is based on the object: to provide an improved connector assembly, whose production has a low. Time and effort required.

The object underlying the invention is achieved by a connector assembly having the features of the characterizing part of patent claim 1.

According to the invention, the plug body can be fastened in the opening by the plug element and a locking element interlocking.

Advantageously, the meshing enables accurate positioning of the at least one electrical lead.

In one embodiment, a recess is provided on the plug element, into which the locking element can be inserted.

In this embodiment, the plug-in element has a cantilevered support element on which an elastic seal is attached.

The locking element has a wedge-shaped tip, which makes it possible, when inserting the locking element, to pull the plug-in element against an elastic force exerted by the seal further into the opening.

In the following the invention with reference to the drawings will be described in more detail. Show it:
  • FIG. 1 a view of an example of a connector assembly;
  • FIG. 2 a view of an opening in a gear cover according to the example;
  • FIG. 3 a view of an embodiment of a connector assembly;

  • FIG. 5 a view of the connector assembly according to the embodiment, wherein the plug is fixed by the insertion of an element in an opening.

FIG. 1 zeigt ein erstes Beispiel einer Steckverbindungsanordnung. FIG. 1 shows a first example of a connector assembly. A plug, which was preferably produced by injection molding, has a plug body 1 with a plug head 2 and a plug-in element 3. The plug head 2 and the plug element 3 are arranged at right angles to each other and may be formed in one piece. The plug head 2 is defined as being the part of the plug body intended for insertion of an external cable. The plug-in element 3 is defined by being the part of the plug body 1 which is intended to be plugged into an opening in a wall. Plug head 2 and 3 plug element must be structurally not clearly separated from each other. An electrical line 4 extends through the interior of the plug body 1 from the plug head 2 to the plug element 3, where it ends in an electrical contact 5. In the plug head 2, a Halterungsausnehmung 6 is formed for attachment of the external cable. The plug-in element 3 is constructed cylindrically symmetrical and has a cantilevered support element 7, which rests on a wall 8, which is shown in section and belongs to a gear cover. The wall 8 is part of a housing cover of a transmission and consists preferably made of metal. Between the wall 8 and the support member 7 extends a sealing ring 9 which is fixed to the support member 7.

On the plug-in element 3, a thread with a plurality of spiral-shaped projections 10 is formed. The sealing ring 9 is shown in section, so that it does not partially cover the thread. The thread of the plug body 1 is in an opening (see FIG. 2 ) is screwed in the wall 8. In this case, the spiral-shaped projections 10 are inserted into recesses 11 located at the edge of the opening. Due to the cylindrical shape, the plug-in element 3 is always at the edge of the opening during insertion and is thus firmly positioned.

On the spiral projection 10, a nose 12 is formed, which has a parallel to the edge of the recess 11 extending edge. The position of the nose 12 is chosen so that the contacts 5 are correctly positioned as soon as the nose 12 is completely in the recess 11. A further screwing in of the plug is then blocked by the support element 7. In this case, the sealing ring 9 is strongly compressed, so that the plug is well sealed, as is required for a windscreen wiper motor.

When screwing in the plug 1, the nose 12 is pressed against the wall 8. The wall 8 then yields elastically (this will be with reference to FIG FIG. 2 explained in more detail) and returns behind the nose 12 back to their original position. The nose 12 hooks with the wall 8 and prevents unscrewing of the plug 1. Alternatively to the nose 12 and the slope of the spiral projection 10 can be chosen so small and matched to the size of the recess 11 that the spiral projection 10 against the wall 8 suppressed. Then, however, the slope of the protrusion at the location first inserted into the recess should be steeper to facilitate screwing the protrusion under the wall 8. The helical projection is then completely screwed into the recess and the wall 8 returns behind the helical projection 10 to its original position. Thus, the end of the helical projection replaces the nose 12. In the first embodiment, the engagement of the male element 3 and the wall 9 thus means concretely that the helical projection 10 or a nose 12 attached to the helical projection 10 rests against the edge of the recess 11. The contacts 5 are suitably positioned for connection to internal lines.

FIG. 2 zeigt die Öffnung 13 in dem Gehäusedeckel. FIG. 2 shows the opening 13 in the housing cover. At its edge, the recesses 11 are formed as ring sectors. In the wall 8, a slot 14 is formed, which ends in the recess 11. Through the slot 14, a tongue 15 is created with the same width as the recess and the spiral-shaped projection 10, which yields under pressure due to the nose 12 and the spiral projection 10. Once the nose 12 and the helical projection 10 is completely in the recess 11, the tongue 15 clicks back to its original position.

FIG. 3 zeigt eine Ausführungsform einer Steckverbindungsanordnung. FIG. 3 shows an embodiment of a connector assembly. A plug body 16 differs from the plug body 1 according to the example by the plug element 17. The plug element 17 preferably has a rectangular base and has a likewise rectangular support member 18 which rests on a wall 19 shown in section. The plug element 17 is in an opening inserted in the wall 19 and not screwed and abuts the edge of the opening, which is adapted to the rectangular shape of the male member 17, that is also rectangular. Due to its rectangular cross-section, the plug-in element 19 is not only fixedly positioned in the opening, but also can not be twisted. The cross section may also be circular, as with reference to FIG. 5 will be explained.

Parallel to the wall 19 extends on the male member 17 has a recess 21. This may extend through the middle of the plug 17, but will preferably be formed at the edge where no electrical lines 4 extend. The recess 21 is positioned so that without a force through which a seal 20 which extends between the wall 19 and the support member 18 and is secured to the support member 18 is compressed, the recess 21 is not flush with the wall 19 but a step between the wall 19 and the recess 21 is formed.

FIG. 4 shows the plug FIG. 3 from another side. The plug has a plurality of electrical lines 4, which extend from the Halterungsausnehmung 6 and the contacts 5 below the plug-in element 17.

FIG. 5 shows the connector assembly Fig. 3 wherein the plug 16 is secured by the insertion of a locking element 22 in the recess 21 in an opening. At the front of the locking element 22, a wedge-shaped tip 23 is formed. When the locking element 22 is inserted into the recess 21, the wedge-shaped tip 23 abuts against the lower edge of the recess 21. Thereby, a force is exerted on the seal 20, which is compressed. The plug 16 is therefore fixed and close to the wall 19, which is important for a windscreen wiper motor. The locking element 22 additionally prevents rotation of the plug, if a circular cross section was selected for this one. In the second embodiment, the engagement of the plug element 17 and the locking element 22 thus means concretely that the locking element 22 is inserted into a recess 21. The locking element 22, on which any electrical components 24, such as capacitors 24 may be attached, is preferably made of plastic. However, it can be a simple spring element, if such a fuse is sufficient, for example due to the rectangular configuration of the male element 17.

An electrical connection is made in accordance with the embodiment in that the contacts 5 press against designed as spring elements ends of the internal electrical wires. The internal electrical leads can also be soldered to the contacts.
