Claims (17)

    - a slit which is arranged between the first and second supports and the back (15) of the piece of furniture;
    - a counterweight (1, 1') which is intended to be inserted in the said slit.
  2. Anti-tipping device for a piece of storage furniture of the wardrobe (A) type according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the counterweight (1, 1') is located close to the base (18) of the piece of furniture.
  3. Anti-tipping device for a piece of storage furniture of the wardrobe (A) type according to either of claims 1 or 2, characterised in that a first side of the counterweight comprises a profile which permits the insertion, in the slit in the second lateral wall (20), of a second side of the said counterweight in such a way that the latter can be pivoted in order to permit the insertion of the first side in the slit in the first lateral wall.
  4. Anti-tipping device for a piece of storage furniture of the wardrobe (A) type according to any of claims 1 to 3, comprising elements such as drawers which can be deployed beyond its front face, the said wardrobe (A) being made up of a frame of parallelepipedal appearance to which a vertical back (15) is fastened and of which at least the lateral sides (16, 17) are lined with an inner wall (19, 20), characterised in that:
    - slits are arranged between the rear edges (11) of the said inner walls (19, 20) and the back (15);
    - at least one plate (1, 1') of rectangular appearance made of a heavy material is inserted and kept vertical in the said slits, the said plate (1, 1') having, on a first lateral side, a profile (2, 3, 4, 5, 5') which varies its length with the effect of reducing it towards at least one of its upper or lower edges (11), the said reduction being intended to allow pivoting in relation to the opposite upper corner (6) of the plate (1, 1'), which assumes a rounded shape for that purpose;
    - gripping means (14) are provided in order to move the plate (1, 1') with a view to putting it into, or taking it out of, the wardrobe (A).
  5. Anti-tipping device for a wardrobe (A) according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the first lateral side comprises, in its centre, a rounded lug (2) which is followed, towards its lower and upper ends, by an edge portion (3, 4) which causes the length of the plate (1, 1') to decrease in a regular manner.
  6. Anti-tipping device for a wardrobe (A) according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the said portions (3, 4) are straight, and terminate in a rounded corner (5, 5').
  7. Anti-tipping device for a wardrobe (A) according to one of claims 4 to 6, characterised in that the second lateral side of the plate (1, 1') comprises, at its upper and lower ends, two rounded lugs (6, 7) which are separated by a straight portion (8).
  8. Anti-tipping device for a wardrobe (A) according to any of claims 4 to 7, characterised in that the gripping means consist in at least one orifice (14) which is situated in the vicinity of the upper end (5) of the first lateral side of the plate (1, 1'), the said orifice (14) being dimensioned so as to permit at least the fingers of an operator to pass through.
  9. Anti-tipping device according to any of claims 4 to 8, characterised in that two vertical openings (9, 10) open, in the lower edge (11), into a widened-out centring portion (12, 13), the said openings (9, 10) being intended to cooperate with rollers belonging to a guide system on the frame of the wardrobe (A).
  10. Anti-tipping device for a piece of storage furniture of the wardrobe (A) type according to one of claims 1 to 3, comprising elements such as drawers which can be deployed beyond its front face, the said wardrobe (A) being made up of a frame of parallelepipedal appearance to which a vertical back (15) is fastened and of which at least the lateral sides (16, 17) are lined with an inner wall (19, 20), characterised in that:
    - slits (12, 13) are arranged between the rear edges (11) of the said inner walls (19, 20) and the back (15);
    - at least one plate (1, 1') of rectangular appearance made of a heavy material is inserted and kept vertical in the said slits, the said plate (1, 1') having, on a first lateral side, a profile comprising, in its centre, a rounded lug (2) which is followed, towards its lower (5') and upper (5) ends, by an edge portion (3, 4) which causes the length of the plate (1, 1') to decrease in a regular manner, the said reduction being intended to allow pivoting in relation to the opposite upper corner (6) of the plate (1, 1'), which assumes a rounded shape for that purpose;
    - gripping means consisting in at least one orifice (14) which is situated in the vicinity of the upper end (5) of the first lateral side of the plate (1, 1'), the said orifice (14) being dimensioned so as to permit at least the fingers of an operator to pass through.
  11. Anti-tipping device according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the portions connecting the lug (2) to the upper and lower edges are straight and terminate in a rounded corner.
  12. Anti-tipping device according to either of claims 10 and 11, characterised in that the second lateral edge of the plate comprises, at its upper and lower ends, two rounded lugs (6, 7) which are separated by a straight portion (8).
  13. Anti-tipping device according to one of claims 10 to 12, characterised in that two vertical openings (9, 10) open, in the lower edge (11), into a widened-out centring portion (12, 13), the said openings (9, 10) being intended to cooperate with rollers belonging to a guide system on the frame of the wardrobe (A).
  14. Anti-tipping device according to any of claims 4 to 13, characterised in that the plate (1, 1') is made of steel.
  15. Anti-tipping device according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the thickness of the plate (1, 1') is between 4 and 10 mm.
  16. Method aiming at preventing the tipping of a wardrobe (A) with the aid of a device according to claims 4 to 15 by the installation of at least one plate (1, 1'), characterised by the following stages:
    - the oblique positioning of the plate (1, 1') against the back (15), with the first lateral side upwards;
    - the insertion of the upper end (6) of the second lateral side of the plate in the slit in one of the lateral sides of the wardrobe (A);
    - the pivoting of the plate (1, 1') about the said upper end (6) with a view to inserting the first lateral side in the opposite slit in the wardrobe (A) ;
    - the rendering of the plate (1, 1') horizontal by bringing it into contact with the base (18) of the frame of the wardrobe (A) or the upper edge of a plate (1, 1') which has already been positioned.
  17. Method according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the rendering of the plate horizontal is accompanied by an insertion of the rollers belonging to the guide system in the openings (9; 10) made in the lower edge (11) of the plate (1, 1').
