Description

ARTICLE OF LEATHER GOODS

The invention relates to an article of leather goods attached box, pilot's suitcase, laptop bag (computer case) or other baggage and its method of production.

There is known a leather article of this type, self-supporting and generally not substantially deformable under normal conditions of use, of parallelepipedal overall shape, having a bottom recessed and a cover associated with the bottom pivotally and capable of being fixed to it in the closed state by a suitable fastening means - such as for example a zipper -. In a known embodiment, the article is made essentially of aluminum or rigid plastic material. In another known embodiment, the bottom and the cover comprise a rigid core - for example made of metal or rigid plastic - assuring the self-supporting nature, and outer and inner decorative panels made of thin sheets, in particular of leather, fabric or plastic material. . If necessary, it is expected the interposition below the outer face of a compressible thin layer clean to give the article a visual appearance slightly padded. Such an article of leather also includes an outside handle and, where appropriate, inner straps. According to possible embodiments, the article comprises on its edges and / or outer corners of the inserts, in particular leather, substitute for leather, fabric, or metal, providing both a protective function including wear or shocks, and a decorative function. Thanks to its structure, the indeformability and self-supporting characteristics of the article can be assured. In the case of an aesthetic bias involving a rigid core and leather siding, it turns out that the article is often quite heavy, for example exceeding 1, 5 kg for a single box attached.

Document FR-A-2 785 224 proposes a sandwich structure comprising a foam core and two leather-facing facings, the core being bonded at least partially to both facings to prevent any displacement in translation. This structure is self-supporting but also deformable resiliently in flexion, torsion and compression, which is why it is mainly intended for the realization of seats.

Document FR-A-2 354 933 describes a bag where a similar object whose body is made from a blank shaped by folding along fold lines.

The invention aims to provide a leather article of the type mentioned above, which is based on an aesthetic bias involving external and internal leather or leather substitute sidings, which is light - for example of a weight less than 1, 5 kg for a single box attached - without the character of indeformability and self-supporting character of the article are substantially affected.

For this purpose, the invention proposes a leather article of the type mentioned above, self-supporting and not substantially deformable under normal conditions of use, of parallelepipedal general shape with two large plates and peripheral edges, adjacent to each other in forming edges and externally rounded corners, having a bottom and a lid associated with the bottom pivotally between a closed state where it is likely to be fixed to it by a fastening means and an open state, the bottom and the lid being delimited each by a peripheral free edge, the article also comprising, most often, an attached handle and optionally one or more internal straps.

According to a first variant, the bottom has a shell shape and the lid a substantially flat shape and not shell-shaped. According to a second variant, the bottom and the lid each have a shell shape.

According to the invention, the bottom and the lid are each made from a sandwich structure including two superposed parts, respectively inner and outer, leather or leather substitute, fixed on either side of an internal core interposed between them and elastically compressible transversely, thanks to a fastening means such as glue, the two inner and outer parts forming around the core, two narrow edges, protruding, superimposed and secured to one another by means of a first securing means. In addition, the core is shaped so as to present, inwards and at the location of an edge, a notched hollow profile where it is of reduced thickness.

An edge is formed either by straightening the sandwich structure from a flat, at the location and thanks to an original hollow of the V-shaped core, or by superimposition and joining of two pairs of superposed projecting edges of two inner and outer parts through a second securing means.

The inner and outer parts provide the facing function of the article and, simultaneously, in combination with the core, the fastening means and the securing means, participate in the self-supporting and non-substantially deformable characters of said article, in addition to being light and aesthetics.

According to other features, an inner or outer part is a leather cut such as natural cow or equivalent, flexible, with a thickness of the order of 7/10 ^th to 9/10 ^th of mm, and more particularly of the order of 8/10 ^th of mm, while a core is a cutout of cellular plastic, flexible but having as a whole a certain strength, having a density substantially of the order of 45 kg / cm ³ to 70 kg / m ³ , and a thickness of between 4 mm and 20 mm, preferably of the order of 6 to 8 mm. The core has, at the location of the profiled hollow notch, a thickness less than or equal to the order of half of its thickness outside the hollow, more particularly of the order of 2 mm.

According to other features, the sandwich structure of the bottom - and if necessary of the shell-shaped lid - consists of two parts inner and outer applied against - and glued - on the two opposite sides of the soul first to the place of the large dish and then to the place of the songs, in such a way that any relative movement is prevented, especially glued on all or substantially all the surface in contact, the first securing means of the two protruding edges and superimposed two parts, especially a sewing thread, being placed outside but in the immediate vicinity of the free edge of the soul.

A first zipper portion, disposed along the peripheral free edge, has a strip against the inner face of the inner wall, a first spacer strip placed against the zipper strip on its inner face, and a second protective band - wider - placed against the first band on its inner side so as to be protruding, the band of the first part of the zipper, the first and second strips being secured to the projecting edge of the inner walls and outer by a sewing thread. The third piece is a leather cut such as natural cow or equivalent, of a thickness of the order of 7/10 ^th to 9/10 ^th of mm, and more particularly of the order of 8/10 ^th of mm. .

A second zipper portion is disposed along the peripheral free edge, the strip of which is interposed between the third piece and the inner piece thus being secured by the first securing means.

According to another characteristic, the first and second parts of the zipper extend over all of the two free edges of the bottom and the cover, except for a length on one side of these free edges where there is , fixed at the bottom and at the cover, a hinge strip, positioned and fixed on the cover as the strip of the second part of the zipper and on the bottom, similarly to the strip of the first part of the closure at slide.

The article of leather goods according to the invention is an attache case, a pilot's suitcase, a laptop bag or an analogous bag which, on the one hand, is self-supporting and, on the other hand, is not substantially deformable under conditions normal use.

The luggage 1 comprises a bottom 2 and a lid 3 associated with the bottom 2 pivotally. It can be either in a closed state where the cover 3 can be fixed to the bottom 2 by a fixing means, in this case a zipper 4, or in an open state.

Unless otherwise stated, the luggage 1 is described and shown in the closed state, with the bottom 2 downwards and the lid 3 upwards, a hinge 5 for tilting the lid being horizontal, like the top face 6 of the lid. In addition, the hinge 5 is backward. It is in relation to this typical position of a piece of luggage 1 in front of and which can be opened that the words "horizontal", "vertical", "superior" or "high", "lower" or "low" are understood. The word "inside" refers to what is in baggage 1 or more closed to the center of bag 1, while the word "outside" refers to what is outside baggage 1 or more closed on its periphery. As for the word "internal", it refers to what is located in the very structure of the baggage 1, without being normally visible to the user.

In the embodiment described here, the bottom 2 is in the form of an open shell and the lid 3 is essentially flat. In another embodiment, the bottom 2 and the lid 3 are both in the form of an open shell. In all cases, the bottom 2 and the lid 3 are each delimited by a peripheral free edge which, with respect to the bottom2, defines its opening.

The luggage 1 has, in the embodiment described here, a parallelepipedal general shape. It comprises first two large flat 7 and 8, respectively lower planes belonging to the bottom 2 and upper belonging to the cover 3. It then comprises four peripheral edges 9, 10, 11 and 12, namely a rear edge 9 where the hinge 5 is located, a front edge 10, and two side edges 11 and 12 on either side. Of course, the luggage 1 may have other forms.

The two large plates 7, 8 and the four peripheral edges 9, 10, 11 and 12 are adjacent to each other and form on the one hand a pair of four large horizontal rectangle edges 13, 14, 15 and 16, on the two large plates defining the length and width of the baggage, and on the other hand four vertical edges 17, 18, 19 and 20 corresponding to the height of the luggage 1. At their intersections, three edges form a corner 21, 22, 23 or 24, on the one hand, and 21 ', 22', 23 'and 24' on the other hand. Baggage 1 considered therefore has eight corners. The edges and corners are externally rounded. Unlike many achievements of the state of the art, the luggage 1 does not require the presence of protective inserts on its edges and / or outer corners. Of course, it is possible that such parts are provided for decorative reasons.

In one embodiment, the largest edges are the front 14 and rear 16 edges, which have a length of substantially between 330 and 500 mm. The two lateral horizontal edges 13 and 15 have a smaller length of substantially between 280 and 410 mm. As for the vertical height of the luggage, it is substantially between 80 and 155 mm.

According to the dimensions given above, the total weight of the luggage 1 can vary substantially between 700 g and 2050 g.

The bottom 2 in the form of an open shell is made from a sandwich structure formed of three flat blanks whose shapes - rectangular or inscribed in rectangles - and the dimensions are determined precisely according to the final assembly. This assembly is made by superposition, setting volume and securing the cuts by means of glue and sewing thread.

The three cutouts are an inner part 25, an outer part 26 and a core 27. An inner or outer part 26 is a leather cut such as natural cow or equivalent, flexible, of a thickness more especially of the order of 8/10 ^th of mm. A core 27 is a cutout of cellular plastic, flexible but having as a whole a certain strength, having a density especially of the order of 66.5 kg / m ³ for the bottom 2.

The core 27, used to make the bottom 2, initially has a thickness of 12 mm. The cellular plastic material that composes the core is thermocompressed to have a thickness of 6 mm. This operation makes it possible to produce a core of density greater than that of the cover 3, making the bottom 2 more resistant.

Regarding the core of the lid 3, it has a thickness of 6 mm and a density of 50 kg / m ³ . The lid core is not thermocompressed.

For large luggage models, it can be expected to make the core 27 of the lid or bottom with a thickness of about 8 mm.

Originally, the core 27 is shaped so as to present towards the inside and at the place to form an edge during the setting of volume, a V-shaped hollow 28 having a reduced thickness towards the point.

The inner 25 and outer 26 parts are applied against - and glued - on the two opposite faces of the core 27. This application and this collage are made first at the place of the large plate 7 and then at the place of the songs 9, 10, 11 and 12. First, the inner part 25 is glued to the core 27 by fixing the piece 25 of the center of the room (and first by filling a hollow 28 original V-shaped core) to the edges of the room, so as to chase all possible air bubbles. FIG. 4 shows the part 25 glued on the core 27. Then, the shape is shaped by pounding the assembly glued along the hollow 28. The outer part 26 is then glued in turn on the entire free surface of the soul 27.

The bonding is such that any relative displacement of the cuts is prevented. For this purpose, the adhesive is deposited on all or substantially all the surfaces in contact.

The two inner and outer pieces 25 form, around the core, two narrow edges 29 and 30, protruding, also superimposed and secured to one another by means of a securing means, in this case a thread of seam 31. This is placed outside but in the immediate vicinity of the free edge of the core 27, thus closely trapped between the two inner and outer parts 25.

The horizontal edges 13, 14, 15 and 16 of the rectangle are formed by straightening (it is meant by folding, the latter may as well be a lowering) of the sandwich structure from a plate 7 or 8, to the 28. The result is that the hollow 28 is closed on itself to finally present, after assembly, a notch shape 32, where the core 27 is of reduced thickness.

In one embodiment, the core 27 has, at the location of the recess 28 profiled notch, a thickness less than or equal to the order of half of its thickness outside the hollow, more particularly of the order of 2 mm.

The inner part 25 is fixed to the core 27 flat so as to match the original hollow of the V-shaped core. In the final baggage, the inner part 25 also marries the notched profiled end recess 32 of the soul 27. At this place, the inner part 25 forms a reentrant right angle. Although it enters the notch 32 and considering that it is closed on itself, there is a visual continuity of the inner part 25 between the large plate 7 and the songs 9, 10, 11 and 12.

For its part, the outer part 26 forms a slightly rounded protruding right angle constituting the edge.

A vertical edge 17, 18, 19 or 20 is formed by the superposition and the joining of two pairs of projecting edges 29, 30 superimposed on two inner and outer pieces 26 by a securing means, in this case a thread of sewing31. This edge, frank, is defined by the edge of the two pairs of inner and outer parts 25 which is located perpendicularly to the plane of a large flat 7 or 8.

In the embodiment shown, this edge ends near but away from the peripheral free edge of the bottom 2, at the location of the two projecting edges of the two edges defining this free edge. In addition, each of these two borders is extended beyond the ridge to form a small tab. The two small legs thus produced are secured to one another by stitching.

At the bottom 2 of the luggage 1, along its peripheral free edge, is associated a first portion 33 of a two-part zipper (each formed of a strip 34 and teeth 35, one of the parts comprising in addition to at least one movable cursor 36). More particularly, the strip 34 of the first zipper portion 33 is disposed along the peripheral free edge against the inner face of the inner wall.

It is further provided first a first band 37 - said spacer - placed against the band 34 of the zipper on its inner face, and then a second band 38 - said protection - wider than the first band 37, placed against the first band 37 on its inner face. This second band 38 is thus projecting towards the top of the bottom by strictly delimiting its peripheral free edge.

The band 34 of the first part of the zipper, the first band 37 and the second band 38 are secured to the projecting edge of the inner and outer walls along the peripheral free edge by a sewing thread 31.

The band assembly 34 of the first portion of the zipper, first and second strips 37 and 38, extends over the entire free edge of the bottom 2, except for a length on a long side thereof. free edge where is located at the bottom (and the cover), a band 5 forming a hinge, positioned and fixed on the bottom, similarly to the band 34 of the first portion 33 of the zipper.

The structure as just described is such that the inner and outer parts 26 of the bottom 2 not only provide the facing function of the luggage 1, but also, simultaneously, in combination with the core 27, the glue and the sewing threads 31, participate in the self-supporting and non-substantially deformable characters of the luggage 1, characterized finally by its lightness and aesthetics.

The lid 3 is in this case essentially flat and not shell-shaped. It therefore comprises a large flat 8 and is devoid of edges and edges obtained by straightening the sandwich structure or by superposition and sewn connection of two pairs of superimposed projecting edges of the inner and outer parts 26, as has been described. for the bottom 1. In addition, the core 27 is devoid of hollow V-shaped (original hollow) or notch (final situation). This cover 3 has a structure derived from that of the bottom 2. Like the bottom 2, it comprises two inner and outer parts 26 and a core 27. Like the bottom 2, the sandwich structure is secured by means of glue, so as to prevent substantial relative displacement. Like the bottom 2, the two protruding edges 29 and 30 and superposed of the two parts 25 and 26 are secured by means of a sewing thread 31 placed outside but in close proximity to the free edge of the core 27.

The lid 3, however, also comprises a third internal piece 39 included in the sandwich structure as follows: the outer piece 26 and the third piece 39 are fixed on either side of the core 27, while the inner piece 25 is attached to the third piece 39 opposite the soul 27.

The third piece 39 is a leather cut-out similar to that of the corresponding inner and outer pieces 26.

The second zipper portion 40 is disposed along the peripheral free edge of the lid 3. For this purpose, the strip 34 of this second portion 40 is interposed between the third piece 39 and the inner piece 25, thus being secured by means of to the first securing means 31. As for the bottom 2, the second part 40 of the zipper extends over the entire free edge of the cover 3, except for a length on a long side 9 where found, fixed to the cover 3, the band 5 forming hinge. The luggage 1 also includes a handle 41 attached to the outside on one of the songs of the bottom 2.
