Description

RECESSED HANDLE
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a recessed handle for sliding leaves. In particular, the present invention relates to a recessed handle for sliding leaves, having at least one elastic member connecting it to the leaf. In more detail, the present invention relates to a recessed handle for sliding leaves, having at least one elastic member connecting it to the leaf, and deformable in a direction parallel to the direction of sliding. BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION
As is well-known, the practice is known of snap- coupling recessed handles to slots in stiles of sliding leaves by means of a locking device carried in an end position by a casing which is part of the handle, and in particular between sides of the casing itself which are parallel to each other. The French company Ferco produces a recessed handle which has a first locking member connected rigidly to the casing and a second locking member connected elastically to the casing, in order to snap-connect it elastically to the end lips of the installation slot. The second locking member includes a fixed striker and a locking element thrust outwards by a spring and retained by axial end-stops carried in an end position by the sides themselves. Normally these end-stops are formed by punch- strokes executed subsequently to the insertion of the locking element, and this must be done while compressing the spring located to the rear. The installation of this device, and in particular of the second locking member, requires time and care, in particular in forming the end-stops. This complicates the operations of preparing the handle, and also maintenance operations, given that the presence of the punch-marks complicates the replacement of the locking element, which easily compromises the mechanical seal of the sides.
In view of what is described above, it would be desirable to have available locking members of elastic type that are easier to install, which, besides enabling the disadvantages, typical of the known art set forth above, to be limited and if possible overcome, could define a new standard for these types of handles for sliding doors. SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT INVENTION The present invention relates to a recessed handle for sliding leaves.
An object of the present invention is to create a recessed handle which will permit the resolution of the disadvantages set forth above, and which will be capable of satisfying a series of requirements to which in the present state of affairs there is no answer, and therefore of representing a new and original source of economic advantage, able to alter the current market in accessories for doors and windows .
According to the present invention a recessed handle is created, and the principal characteristics of this handle will be described in at least one of the claims which follow. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Further characteristics and advantages of the recessed handle according to the present invention will appear more clearly from the following description, explained by reference to the attached drawings which illustrate some non-limiting examples of embodiment, in which identical or corresponding parts of the device itself are identified by the same reference numbers. In particular:
- Fig. 1 is a schematic perspective view of a recessed handle according to a first preferred embodiment of the present invention;
- Fig. 2 is a frontal view on an enlarged scale with parts in section and parts removed for clarity of a detail taken from figure 1; - Fig. 3 is a schematic perspective view of a recessed handle with parts removed for clarity according to a second preferred embodiment of the present invention;
Fig. 4 is a schematic perspective view, on an enlarged scale, of a detail taken from figure 3; - Fig. 5 is a schematic perspective view of a recessed handle according to a first preferred embodiment of the present invention;
Fig. 6 is a schematic perspective view, on an enlarged scale, of a detail taken from figure 5; DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
In figure 1, no. 1 indicates, in its entirety, a recessed handle for sliding leaves (known and not illustrated) . Handle 1 includes a respective elongated casing 10 provided with a substantially flat plate 11 and a pair of sides 14 facing each other, which extend transversely from plate 11 and are delimited longitudinally by respective end portions 16. Each portion 16 is provided with a respective hooking device 18 for the stable connection of casing 10 to a (known and not illustrated) slot formed frontally in a (known and not illustrated) stile of the (known and not illustrated) leaf. In particular, one portion 16 carries a fixed hooking device, which for convenience is not numbered, and the other carries an elastic hooking device 19, represented at the top in figure 1. Each hooking device 19 includes a toothed member 20, elastically activable in a longitudinal direction in order to connect casing 10 to the (known and not illustrated) stile by gripping it with a snap action in cooperation with plate 11.
Each member 20 is in elastic connection with a box-like body 22 of substantially paralleliped box shape, open towards the top in figure 1 and carried solidly by casing 10 between the sides 14 in selectively removable manner. The assembly consisting of each member 20 and the respective box-like body 22 makes up a locking module 24 securing the casing 10 to the (known and not illustrated) leaf, which allows the simplification of the operations of preparing the casing 10 for the purpose of installing the handle to the (known and not illustrated) leaf.
Each toothed member 20 and the respective box-like body 22 are mechanically connected to each other through the interposition of an elastic member, which in figure 2 is formed by a longitudinal torsion spring which, for convenience, is represented by the same reference number 28 as already used. It will be noted that toothed member 20 and box-like body 22 are shaped in such a way as to complete a retaining device 30 and to be movable with respect to each other in substantially prismatic manner, forming a longitudinal constraint for toothed member 20 with respect to box-like body 22. In this connection, retaining device 30 presents at least one projection 32 carried solidly by body 22 in an end position, which extends inwards in such a way as to intercept an external edge 34 carried at the bottom by toothed member 20.
Still according to figure 1, each toothed member 20 and the respective box-like body 22 are mechanically connected to each other through spring 28, which tends to thrust toothed member 20 outwards, butting at its opposite end against a bottom portion 36 of box-like body 22, which therefore functions as a retaining/opposing member for spring 26 itself.
The use of handle 1 described above is clearly comprehensible from what is set forth above, and does not require further explanation.
Finally, it is clear that modifications and variations may be made to handle 1 here described and illustrated without for this reason departing from the protective compass of the present invention.
For example, in the case of the handle illustrated with reference to figures 3 and 4, for the marking of which an identical numeration is used to the numeration of the handle in figures 1 and 2, the concave/box-like body 22 is open at the front and rear, and the respective spring 28 is formed by a sawtooth-shaped body delimited longitudinally by respective ends connected rigidly to toothed member 20 and to concave body 22 in the vicinity of bottom portion 36. According to the variant in figures 5 and 6, for the marking of which an identical numeration is used to the numeration of the handle in figures 1 and 2 , toothed member 20 includes at least one projection 40, elastically deformable in a transverse direction to plate 11 in order to form a stable bond between casing 10 and the (known and not illustrated) leaf.
It will be noted that in this case concave body 22 is open at the front and rear as in the case of figures 3 and 4, and is substantially U-shaped. In particular, the toothed member 20 includes two diverging projections 40 and is connected as one piece to concave body 20 in such a way as, together with the latter, to form a single body 50 shaped at the top in figure 5 similarly to an inverted letter omega whose closed portion is substantially squashed and squared .
From the constructional point of view, the single body 50 may be formed by the plastic deformation of an elongated element 52 of substantially rectangular section. Element 52 includes a metallic strip of constant section profiled by plastic deformation, for example by the pressing of metallic material.
On the other hand, providing the stresses were not too great, and for the purpose of containing costs, a positive assessment could be made of producing body 50 by the moulding of plastic material.
On the basis of the description given above, it is easily comprehensible that handle 1 described above with reference to figures 1 and 2, or to figures 3 and 4, or with reference to figures 5 and 6, allows the disadvantages described above to be resolved.
It should be noted that locking module 24 and/or single body 50, and their corresponding use, present various advantages by comparison with the known art. First of all, the fact that both locking module 24 and single body 50 can be easily installed in proximity to the end of casing 10 between the sides 14 of handle 1. Furthermore, the concave body 22 in the version in figures 1 and 2 can carry toothed members 20 profiled in conjugate manner to the profile of the (known and not illustrated) stile to which the relative handle 1 is intended to be coupled. Single body 50, moreover, being geometrically very simple, is also very cheap as well as being very simple to install, requiring only the application of pressure on the two diverging projections 40 during the insertion of concave body 22 between sides 14.
