Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a garbage-containing apparatus and, more particularly, to a cover set for a garbage-containing apparatus.
- Referring to Fig. 11, a conventional garbage-containing
apparatus 90 is shown to include abin 92, acover 91 pivotally connected to thebin 92 and twoelastic elements 93 for lifting thecover 91 from thebin 92. Near the end of the lifting, thecover 91 however hits thebin 92 fiercely and makes loud noise. The hit is often strong so that the entire garbage-containing apparatus rattles and makes more noise. Such noise is annoying. - The present invention is therefore intended to obviate or at least alleviate the problems encountered in prior art.
- According to the present invention, a cover set includes a ring mounted on a bin, a cover pivotally connected to the ring, a lifting device for lifting the cover from the ring and at least one buffer for buffering the cover near the end of the lifting.
- The primary advantage of the garbage-containing apparatus according to the present invention is quietness during the lifting from the start to the end.
- Other advantages and features of the present invention will become apparent from the following description referring to the drawings.
- The present invention will be described through detailed illustration of three embodiments referring to the drawings.
- Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a garbage-containing apparatus equipped with a cover set according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
- Fig. 2 is an enlarged exploded partial view of the cover set shown in Fig. 1, and shows that the cover set includes a ring, a cover pivotally connected to the ring, a lifting device for lifting the cover from the ring and two buffers for buffering the cover during the end of the lifting.
- Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional partial view of the cover set of Fig. 1.
- Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional partial view of the cover set in another position than shown in Fig. 3.
- Fig. 5 is a reduced cross-sectional view of the cover set of Fig. 4.
- Fig. 6 is a cross-sectional partial view of the cover set in another position than shown in Fig. 4.
- Fig. 7 is a cross-sectional partial view of the cover set in another position than shown in Fig. 6.
- Fig. 8 is a perspective view of a garbage-containing apparatus equipped with a cover set according to the second embodiment of the present invention.
- Fig. 9 is a perspective view of a garbage-containing apparatus equipped with a cover set according to the third embodiment of the present invention.
- Fig. 10 is an enlarged exploded view of the cover set shown in Fig. 9.
- Fig. 11 is a perspective view of a conventional garbage-containing apparatus.
- Referring to Fig. 1, there is shown a garbage-containing apparatus including a
bin 1 and acover set 2 according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Thecover set 2 includes aring 10 mounted on thebin 1, acover 20 pivotally connected to thering 10, alifting device 30 for lifting thecover 20 from thering 10, twobuffers 40 for buffering thecover 20 near the end of the lifting and twoshields 50 for shielding thebuffers 40. - Referring to Fig. 2, the
ring 10 includes aplatform 11 formed on an internal side of thering 10 and located lower than an upper face of thering 10, fourears 12 formed on theplatform 11 and twoplates 14 projected from the internal side of thering 10 and located lower than theplatform 11. Each of theears 12 is formed with aboss 13. Each of theplates 14 defines ascrew hole 141 and twoapertures 142. - The
cover 20 is formed with four ears 21 for pivotal connection to theears 12 and anextensive portion 23 for contact with thebuffers 40. Each of the ears 21 defines an aperture 22 for receiving a related one of thebosses 13. Hence, thecover 20 is pivotally connected to thering 10. - The
lifting device 30 includes twotorque springs 33. Each of thetorque springs 33 includes two looped portions each arranged around a related one of thebosses 13. Therefore, thelifting device 30 can lift thecover 20 from thering 10. - Each of the
buffers 40 includes abent portion 41 mounted on a related one of theplates 14 and acurved portion 42 for contact with theextensive portion 23 of thecover 20. Aslot 43 is defined in thecurved portion 42 of each of thebuffers 40 so that the flexibility of the latter is improved. - A threaded
bolt 60 is driven in thescrew hole 141 of each of theplates 14 through an aperture defined in thebent portion 41 of a related one of thebuffers 40. Thus, thebuffers 40 are secured to theplates 14. - Each of the
shields 50 includes twohooks 51 each inserted in a related one of theapertures 142 of a related one of theplates 14. Hence, theshields 50 are secured to theplates 14. Theshields 50 shield thebuffers 40 from a side while thering 10 shields thebuffers 40 from another side. - Referring to Fig. 3, the
cover 20 is lifted from thering 10. The pivoting of thecover 20 gets faster and faster. - Referring to Figs. 4 and 5, near the end of the lifting, the pivoting of the
cover 20 reaches its top speed, theextensive portion 23 of thecover 20 begins to contact thecurved portions 42 of thebuffers 40. - Referring to Figs. 6 and 7, the
extensive portion 23 of thecover 20 pushes thecurved portions 42 of thebuffers 40. The speed of the pivoting of thecover 20 is reduced. Therefore, thecover 20 is buffered by thebuffers 40. Thecover 20 does not hit thering 10 and does not make any noise. The lifting of the cover set is steady and quiet. - Referring to Fig. 8, there is shown a cover set according to a second embodiment of the present invention. The second embodiment is like the first embodiment except including only one
buffer 40 and only oneshield 50. - Referring to Figs. 9 and 10, there is shown a cover set according to a third embodiment of the present invention. The third embodiment is like the first embodiment except including a lifting device 30' instead of the
lifting device 30. The lifting device 30' includes two units each including a first cap 31' connected to thering 10, a second cap 32' connected to the cover and a helical spring 33' with an end connected to the first cap 31' and another end connected to the second cap 32'. In each of the units, thespring 33 is substantially not loaded when thecover 20 is lifted from thering 10 and loaded as thecover 20 is lowered onto thering 10. Thus, the lifting device 30' is used to lift thecover 20 from thering 10. - The garbage-containing apparatus according to the present invention exhibits at least two advantages. Firstly, the lifting of the cover from the ring is steady and quiet from the start to the end. Secondly, the buffers are durable since they are protected by the shields.
- The present invention has been described through the illustration of the embodiments. Those skilled in the art can derive variations from the embodiments without departing from the scope of the present invention. Therefore, the embodiments shall not limit the scope of the present invention defined in the claims.
Claims (15)
- A cover set comprising a ring (10) mounted on a bin (1), a cover (20) pivotally connected to the ring, a lifting device (30; 30') for lifting the cover from the ring and at least one buffer (40) for buffering the cover (20) near the end of the lifting.
- The cover set according to claim 1 wherein the buffer (40) comprises a first portion (41) attached to the ring and a second portion (42) for contact with the cover (20).
- The cover set according to claim 2 wherein the second portion (42) of the buffer (40) is a curved portion.
- The cover set according to claim 3 wherein the second portion (42) of the buffer (40) defines a slot (43) for improving the flexibility thereof.
- The cover set according to claim 2 wherein the first portion of the buffer (40) is a bent portion (41).
- The cover set according to claim 5 wherein the ring comprises at least one plate (14) formed on an internal side for supporting the bent portion (41) of the buffer (40).
- The cover set according to claim 6 comprising a fastener (60) for fastening the bent portion (41) of the buffer (40) to the plate (14).
- The cover set according to claim 7 wherein the fastener is a threaded bolt (60), and the plate (14) defines a screw hole (141) for receiving the threaded bolt (60).
- The cover set according to claim 6 comprising at least one shield (50) installed on the plate (14) for shielding the buffer.
- The cover set according to claim 9 wherein the shield comprises at least one hook (51), and the plate (14) defines at least one aperture (42) for receiving the hook.
- The cover set according to claim 1 wherein the lifting device (30) comprises at least one torque spring (33) arranged between the ring (10) and the cover (20).
- The cover set according to claim 1 wherein the lifting device (30') comprises at least one torque-providing unit arranged between the ring (10) and the cover (20).
- The cover set according to claim 12 wherein the torque-providing unit comprises a first cap (31') connected to the ring, a second cap (32') connected to the cover and a helical spring (33') with an end attached to the first cap and another end attached to the second cap.
- The cover set according to claim 1 wherein the ring comprises a plurality of ears (12) formed thereon, and the cover comprises a corresponding number of ears (21) pivotally connected to the ears of the ring.
- The cover set according to claim 14 wherein each of the ears of the ring comprises a boss (13), and each of the ears of the cover defines an aperture (22) for receiving the boss of a related one of the ears of the ring.
