Description
Stützhülse für Zylinderkopfschrauben und ZylinderkopfSupport sleeve for cylinder head bolts and cylinder head
The present invention relates to a support sleeve for cylinder head bolts and a cylinder head made of aluminum.
For aluminum cylinder heads, the clamping force of the cylinder head bolts is often too high to be absorbed by the aluminum material. It is therefore necessary to use support sleeves, which are usually made of steel, in the cylinder head, which absorb the forces of the cylinder head bolts and introduce into the material.
According to the prior art, these support sleeves were either cast in the aluminum cylinder heads during casting, or subsequently screwed into threads in the cylinder heads.
These prior art solutions have encountered the following problems:
In the cast-in support sleeves, it is very difficult to ensure the correct positioning of the support sleeves during the casting process.
When screwing in the support sleeves, it is necessary to first cut appropriate threads in the openings of the cylinder head. Furthermore, then often occurs a poor fit of the support sleeves in the pre-cut threads because the threads of the support sleeves and the cylinder head do not fit together perfectly.
In the screwed support sleeves also the extra work for the threading and cleaning the cut threads before inserting the support sleeves is particularly cost-increasing.
Object of the present invention is therefore to provide a support sleeve for cylinder head bolts and a cylinder head in which with minimal technical effort, the support sleeve can be used in perfect position and with perfect adaptation of the threads of the support sleeve and the cylinder head.
According to the invention this object is achieved by a support sleeve for cylinder head bolts, which is provided with a self-tapping external thread, and by a cylinder head made of aluminum, in which the abutment of the cylinder head bolts are provided with support sleeves, wherein the support sleeves in through the support sleeves even when their mounting grooves are set.
In this way, the problems when pouring the support sleeves are completely avoided and yet it is not necessary to provide the openings for the cylinder head bolts in the cylinder head with threads prior to insertion of the support sleeves. Rather, according to the invention, the support sleeves are screwed directly into the openings of the aluminum cylinder head, which furrow their own thread. Thus, both the thread cutting operation and any problem with mismatching between the internal thread cut in advance in the cylinder head and the external thread of the support sleeves are avoided. Supporting sleeve according to the invention sen can of course also be used advantageously in other applications than cylinder heads in which also housing of aluminum casting or aluminum die-cast must be bolted, and thus the same problems occur, for example in gearboxes.
It is particularly preferred in this case if the support sleeves are provided with a polyhedral internal drive. In this way, the self-tapping setting of the support sleeves in the aluminum cylinder head can be done very easily. Preferably, the inner drive comprises eight flat surfaces which are arranged parallel to the central axis of the support sleeve. By this arrangement, the support sleeve can be kept very thin, although it has a sufficient force attack.
Preferably, the steel support sleeve according to the invention is cold forged.
Es zeigt :In the following the present invention will be explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawings. It shows :
Figur 1 eine erfindungsgemäße Stützhülse von der Seite, von der sie vom Werkzeug erfasst wird; undFigure 1 shows a support sleeve according to the invention from the side from which it is detected by the tool; and
Figure 2 shows the support sleeve of Figure 1 from the side, partially cut away.
Figure 1 shows a support sleeve 10 according to the invention from the side at which it is provided with the drive, so with the attack for the setting tool. Such a support sleeve 10 consists essentially of a relatively thin, open top and bottom hollow cylinder, which is cold forged steel. The support sleeve 10 according to the invention is outside with a self-tapping thread 12 provided. At the end facing away from the viewer in Figure 1 (this is the end with which the support sleeve 10 is inserted in advance in the corresponding opening in the cylinder head), the thread 12 is provided with a chamfer 14, which facilitates the self-tapping of the thread 12 .. At the opposite end of the support sleeve 10 according to the invention is provided with an internal drive 16. This end of the support sleeve 10 is facing the viewer in Figure 1, in Figure 2 below. This internal drive 16 serves as a force attack for the tool with which the support sleeve 10 according to the invention is placed in a corresponding opening in the aluminum cylinder head, which need not be prepared otherwise.
Preferably, this internal drive 16 consists of eight flat surfaces, which are arranged parallel to the central axis of the support sleeve 10, and merge into one another by means of relatively small radii.
Preferably, the steel support sleeve according to the invention is cold forged.
