Definitions
- the technical field of the invention is that of the warheads formed charge, and more particularly that of the core generating charges.
- the formed charge warheads conventionally include a concave liner which is applied against an explosive charge associated with initiating means.
- Core generating charges generally have a coating generally having the shape of a spherical cap. During the detonation of the explosive, this coating is set in motion by the incident pressure wave. It is deformed by turning "in glove finger", that is to say that it is transformed into a projectile (or nucleus) whose front part is constituted by the central zone of the coating and the rear part is a formed skirt by the periphery of the coating.
- the FR2627580 describes such a charge.
- the FR-2698163 describes a piercing projectile associating a bar and a shaped charge. It is indicated that the charge formed may be a core generating charge and the bar passes through the coating of the formed charge to generate a tubular core.
- the bar has a feathered portion outside the casing, a middle part inside the load and a free front part. This patent does not provide for a positioning of the rear part of the bar inside the explosive charge and at a distance from the bottom of the casing of the load.
- the WO 85/01572 describes a hybrid charge intended more particularly for a buried mine.
- This charge comprises a cylindrical metal tube which is incorporated in the explosive charge and surrounded by an inert case. This load is intended to produce during operation a projectile constituted by the tube and a second projectile constituted by the disk or coating.
- the detonation wave bypasses the shaper and causes axial compression of the tube which is projected at high speed ahead of the disc.
- the FR-2771486 discloses a detector mount for a formed charge ammunition.
- this munition there is provided an electrical connection to a high frequency element. This is to promote the kinetic distribution of gases to obtain a projectile rich in energy.
- the US Patent 3948181 discloses a hollow charge incorporating incendiary material for penetrating a target behind the jet formed by the charge. It is not about conformation of a projectile.
- the patent US-4841864 discloses a tubular core generating charge according to the preamble of the independent claim 1.
- This load comprises a mandrel which is disposed on the outer face of the coating of the load and which ensures the shaping of the tubular core.
- the vibrations received by the military head during its operational implementation will lead to a separation of the mandrel and the coating or to a simple misalignment leading to poor formation of the core.
- a piercing projectile associating a bar and a shaped charge.
- the load can alternatively be a load generating a tubular core.
- this projectile has the main function of ensuring a perforation by a kinetic bar and the size of the ammunition is important.
- the object of the invention is to propose a military head that does not have such disadvantages.
- the head according to the invention thus has a reduced axial size while having a robust structure for operational integration in an ammunition.
- the invention relates to a shaped warhead having a concave coating applied against an explosive charge, disposed in a casing having a bottom, and which is associated with priming means, head having at least one insert disposed in an axial manner with respect to the coating, which insert is intended to give a tubular profile to the core generated by the coating during the initiation of the explosive charge, characterized in that the insert passes completely through the coating and penetrates into the the interior of the explosive charge, the insert having a rear portion which is remote from the bottom of the envelope.
- the rear part of the insert will be at a distance from the bottom of the casing greater than or equal to the diameter of the insert.
- the length of the insert which is located outside the load will preferably be greater than or equal to 0.5 times the size of the load.
- the insert may be completely cylindrical.
- the insert may comprise a conical rear portion.
- only the tapered rear part of the insert can enter the explosive charge.
- the head advantageously incorporates a rear containment block which has a cylindrical outer surface fitted to the inner housing of the casing and has a conical inner bore whose conicity is substantially the same as that of the rear part of the insert.
- the insert may be made of steel.
- a shaped charge warhead 1 has a concave coating 2 which is applied against an explosive charge 3 contained in an envelope 4.
- the explosive charge 3 is associated with means of initiation which comprise a detonator 5, integral with a bottom 4a or rear part of the casing 4, and a detonation relay 6 which is interposed between the detonator 5 and the explosive charge 3.
- This head 1 comprises an insert 7 which is arranged axially with respect to the coating 2.
- the insert 7 has the same axis of symmetry 8 as the warhead 1. It is intended to form the coating during the initiation of the explosive charge so as to produce a tubular projectile.
- the insert 7 passes completely through the coating 2 and penetrates inside the explosive charge 3.
- a cylindrical bore 9 is made inside the load 3. This machining is performed after the casting and the solidification of the load 3.
- the insert 7 is thus held both by the bore 9 and the coating 2.
- the securing of the insert is ensured by gluing.
- a material having a sufficient mechanical strength will be chosen to support the deformation of the coating 2 as well as the guiding and the formation of the latter.
- the steel insert may be made with a coating made of nickel.
- the insert comprises a rear portion 10 which is located at a distance D from the bottom 4a of the casing 4 (and also at a distance from the priming means 5, 6).
- This distance D is preferably greater than the diameter (d) of the insert.
- the distance D makes it possible to ensure that the insert does not disturb the initiation of the explosive charge 3 nor does it hinder the progression of the detonation wave inside the explosive charge 3.
- the length L of the insert which is located outside the load will be chosen greater than or equal to half the caliber C of the load.
- the caliber C considered here is the value of the outer diameter of the coating 2. We will thus have L ⁇ 0.5 C.
- the insert 7 will have a diameter d which will be chosen according to the desired diameter for the internal bore of the tubular core. It will be noted that the greater this diameter d is, the more the tubular core obtained can realize a cut reactive protection without initiating it. Indeed, for a large bore diameter of the core, there is no recombination shock waves at the level of the explosive impacted reactive protection.
- the insert 7 is completely cylindrical. It is of course possible to give the insert a different profile, for example slightly conical.
- the figure 2 shows a military head 1 according to a second embodiment of the invention.
- the insert 7 has a rear portion 11 which is conical and which is placed in a complementary conical housing 12 which is machined in the explosive charge 3.
- the conical rear portion 11 of the insert enters the explosive charge 3, the cylindrical portion of the insert is guided by the axial bore of the coating 2.
- the insert 7 is again glued to the explosive charge 3.
- the rear tip of the cone 11 is at a distance D from the bottom 4a of the casing 4 (and also at a distance from the priming means 5, 6).
- the military head 1 also incorporates a rear containment block 13 which has a cylindrical outer surface fitted to the inner housing of the casing 4 and which has a conical inner bore 14.
- This containment block 13 is made for example of a light alloy (for example an aluminum alloy) or plastic. Block 13 guides the detonation wave in the explosive charge 3 during the initiation of the latter.
- the taper of the bore 14 is substantially the same as that of the rear portion 11 of the insert 7.
- the rear portion 11 of the insert acts as a shaper for the detonation wave. This embodiment therefore ensures both a good maintenance of the insert and a good initiation of the load.
- tubular cores having a large internal diameter are particularly interesting because they can cut a reactive protection without initiating it.
- a large diameter is obtained for the boring of the core by increasing the diameter of the insert, but there is then the problem of the bootability of the explosive charge of the warhead itself.
- This embodiment of the invention therefore makes it possible to ensure the primability of the military head incorporating an insert of large diameter.

Description
On aura donc L ≥ 0,5 C.
figure 1 .
